Dear all,

What agencies are good for booking flight tickets for us? Is STA Travel good? Can any travel agencies do this (like Reliance, etc), even though what I want are only flight tickets and not their tour packages? Do they charge us or the airline for the commission?

I know, most of you will probably say, "book yourself la". But when the tickets involve multiple time zones and destinations and some other factors, things get complicated. Plus, there may be promotions from foreign airlines we don't know about and these travel agencies would know about them.

Thanks a lot smile.gif

Hi, I'm interested to sign up Red tomato card membership because they offer package RM599 membership entitle for 2 ground tours (4 star hotel, meal, tour guide and transportation, exclude air ticket, tippings and visa) for 2 pax, can transfer to others. The ground tour only can choose from 4 places - 5D4NBeijing, 5D4NShanghai, 4D3NChengdu and 4D3NGui Lin, select any 2 places, must complete this 2 tour package within one yr. Besides, they will deliver red tomato Chinese newspaper to your house every week for 1 yr. This membership also comes with vouchers for hotel, yoga, fitness centre, courses, health check, etc. For more details, visit red tomato website

So, i would like to get feedback from ppl who already signed as member and went for the trip because I'm afraid this is a scam. My friend already signed up during the Matta fair and she said many ppl join. But, I can't find any online review on this membership. As I know, red tomato newspaper just launch in June 2009 and membership card just launch during Matta Fair. So, might not many ppl go for the trip. Anyone can share?

Attached File  redtomato_card.pdf ( 1.9mb ) Number of downloads: 69

Thank you.

I plan to go to Taiwan OR Phuket during chinese new year but judging from the fact that most taiwan tour from reliable tour agency are fully booked, I think Phuket is the only one to go now. Any suggestion which agency to go for? Or plan everything by myself. This is the first time I go to phuket. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Around Wisma Central there's a lot of travel agencies.

For places around Asia, apple holiday also not bad. just goggle it

Sorry I had to open a new thread for this, I need to get tickets to Vancouver urgently, by tomorrow as parents need to fly out before 19th of March.

I need a recommendation for any good travel agent within PJ (section 14/SS2 or new town area) or Sunway area, or anywhere within that radius.

Also don't mind going to KL so can recommend there too. They must have Korean Air on their books. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!

Has anyone here been on Reliance's Europe Tours? Saw their advert in the papers the other day and the prices look reasonable.

But I googled them and it seems like there are some people who went with them to Europe and were not satisfied with their services.

Any feedback on Reliance?

Usually big travel agencies are more reliable and price maybe be higher a bit. Still depending on where you planning to go.

Few big and reliable travel agencies

Apple Holidays
Bestour
Holiday Tour
Reliance
Mayflower

Wisma Central and along Jalan Imbi, there's a lot of travel agencies you can do research and compare as well.

If you do not have the time, the best way to check out the travel agencies is at the Matta Fair since most of the players are there and you can compare their prices and itineraries. It is generally safer to go with the more established players. The fiasco with Excellence Holidays 2 years back should not happen again, hopefully. Among the big players, GTT tends to be the most expensive but I heard good feedback. I took a package trip to Turkey under Parlo Tours last year and it was very good but the whole trip in Turkey was handled by a local Turkish tour operator so don't know how the other tours would be like. I went to Greece under a two-to-go package under Sedunia Travel (in Wisma Genesis) and it was well-organised (again they were using a local Greek tour operator). For those package tours lead by a local (I mean Malaysian), I think a lot depends on the actual package and the tour leader or manager since his/her experience and knowledge of the places counts. Otherwise I believe they are more or less the same for the estabished players and the deciding factor will be the itinerary and the cost of the tour that best suits you.

Can anyone recommend a tour agency which mainly caters to an english speaking crowd. I have been on several tours which start off in English for the 1st 12 hours and then carried out in another language. I miss out on a lot of the interactions within the group and of course getting my money's worth. I have put in complaints about this in the past but its an ongoing problem.

I'm actually looking to go to China at the end of the year.

Cheers. smile.gif

I have gone on a few package tours arranged by local oprators here and all were using English mainly. Myabe you should clarify with them in the very beginning, before booking the tour. If you want tours that caters to 100% English speaking group, then you can try those UK based operators such as Cosmos, Trafalgar or Insight. I just tried one by Cosmos to Germany and it was well managed. Only problem, you need to make your own flight arrangement to and from the starting point of the tour. I don't think they have tours to China, though. sad.gif
