Most recent would be the Munich tribute in Old Trafford. The fact that all the fans behaved and honored the lost lives plus the fans hoisting up the red and white banners towards the end of the game despite a poor performance from the team on the pitch. People feared that the tribute would have been disrupted and in shambles but the people united for a common cause proved them wrong.

Istanbul for me, FA Cup 2006 was great but not til the extend of bringing tears to my eyes.

Qualified thru Gerrard's goal, beat Juventus 2-1 with Luis superb goal, Luis 'invisible goal' against Chelsea and the final.

Still bring tears to my eyes when i watch the vcd over and over again nod.gif

1) Hillsborough. Although I never knew the victims personally, it was an overwhelming experience to stand in front of the memorial and see those 96 names.
2) Istanbul, especially the rendition of "You'll Never Walk Alone" at half time. Watched "One Night in May" again.
3) Titi Camara playing, scoring and then dropping to his knees in tears at the Anfield Road End, on the very same morning his father passed away. There's commitment for you
4) The return of God to Anfield
5) Gerrard's awesome goal against Olympiacos to send us through to the knockout stages of the Champions League
6) Beating Chelsea in the semi-finals of the 2005 Champions League, putting us through to the final at Istanbul. The celebrations after the match were amazing as the Kop burst into song. Mourinho still hasn't forgiven us for that tongue.gif
7) Reading stories of Shankly and how he touched the hearts of Liverpool fans
8) When we were on tour in Thailand and greeted by fanatical support, Jamie Redknapp who was then captain whispered to one of the foreign lads, "now you know what it means to play for Liverpool FC".
9) When Robbie Fowler visited Thailand with the team, he was appointed an ex-military captain as a body guard. The bodyguard (can't remember his name) told Robbie that he'd visit Liverpool one day. 2 years later, he saved up enough money and went to Melwood to see the team train. After training he called out to Robbie who recognised him and even remembered his name. Robbie took him out to dinner with the lads and paid for everything during his duration of stay. The fans will always be remembered.

I'm a soppy sap.

AFAIK, football brings me more joy than pain hmm.gif especially when we are on the winning team. I only shed tears when we lost in special/sentimental occasion.

Southampton getting relegated after losing to Man U ( who played their usual first 11 even though they can't win the EPL anymore ) sad.gif cry.gif cry.gif

On a happier note, watchin replays of Southampton beating Man U in 96, especially this goal brings a tear to the eye...how did we fall from winning Man U in the EPL to scraping draws in the CCC cry.gif cry.gif

I'm curious to hear from posters who have shed tears when 'their' national sides lose; why is it you do so? This is not a challenge, I'm really curious to know where the emotional attachment comes in.

Dukey,

And these are probably the same bunch who crucify their actual national team players.

Its the same reason why i don't fancy international matches as much as i do for club matches involving Arsenal. I mean i don't mind watching World Cup/Euro Cup and so on but i don't get the same excitement as watching club games.

I share your sentiment. When it comes to internationals, I watch teams that play good football.
