Speed Guide... (still on development)
QUOTE(after install BitComet)
1. Set a limit to your upload speed
For 512k user, set the limit it to 15kBps
1M user can set the limit to 24kBps
2. Portforward and allow BitComet connection in firewall
3. Enable Protocal Encryption (although it is not very useful now since that TMNet using DPI...)
QUOTE(question about BitComet)
http://www.bitcomet.com/doc/faq.htm
FAQ by P2P forum
In depth FAQ for slow BT  <-- guide in LYN

How to Configure BitComet for the Best Possible Speed
Public vs. Private Trackers
A trouble shooting guide

For the XP SP2 connection limit. You can use latest version of BitComet, go to Preferences > Advanced > TCP/IP Limit
Set your 'New Half-Open Limit' higher than 10 (recommended >50)

About the Max Simultaneous Half-Open TCP connections settings under Preferences > Advanced > Connection. It is "Auto" by default. For BitComet, it usually mean '10'. However, if you experience any slow surfing or online gaming, you can lower that value (recommended '8'). but if you didnt have any surfing or online gaming problem, and download speed in BitComet is slow, then you can try to set it to a higher value.

Resume download after change version
The download task will still listed in BitComet after you upgrade or downgrade version. But if you cant find the task, try open that torrent again, choose the same "Save Location" to where the files you are downloading, and choose "Download later"
After that, hash-check the task. It will continue back to the percentage you have downloaded.

If you want to resume download using another client, you can try to remove the .bc! extension OR change the incomplete file extension to the other client "incomplete download file extension"...
open that torrent with the another client, hash-check again...and enjoy your download with new client!!!

QUOTE
If anyone experience slow internet browsing when using bitcomet, but the line didnt have any problem
then you may try these step
1.) Limit your download speed OR upload speed OR both
if this cant help....
2.) Reduce the value of "Max simultaneous half-open TCP connections"
set the value to any value that lower than 10, personally suggest 8...
if the value is "Auto", then make it to 8
IF, still cant help
Last, and is also the Best solution
3.) Disable the "DHT Network"

Out of sheer curiosity, how's Bitcomet's ban doing so far?

Has it actually been improved yet? Private trackers accepting Bitcomet once again or what's the story?

Been outdated on Bitcomet for so long already...

UR torrent deleted?
But the file you downloaded half still there or not?
IF yes then the only option is to go back to the website.. Find the torrent link and put the download into the same folder..
It will auto hash check and resume download..

I think there is something wrong in your guide......

connect as PPPoA?? I think we can't do it except if we subscribe for SOHO package...
Turn off firewall... this will make his computer vulnerable to malware attack...

Added on March 18, 2008, 11:14 amIf you ask me what to do after download BitComet
I will only want him to set upload limit, portforward, and allow the BitComet connection in firewall... thats all... since that BitComet will do most of the settings automatically

Less down time compare with PPPOE. I can connect whole 2 week without disconnect.

Bitcomet name it LongTime Seed , something like H2H (Http)

quote other forum

Here is something about P2SP: P2SP is an extension of P2P, the "S" represents Server, which mean it utilize HTTP/FTP servers in addtion to the P2P peers, thereby increase the availability, stability and performance of the download. P2SP is available in other software like Gigaget, XunLei long time already, and it really help to increase the download speed significantly.

FIY, XunLei (aka Thunder) is a popular download software from China which is well known for its P2SP feature, many sites in china support this software and therefore the download speed is very fast, you can download XunLei

I still cant figure out why my Bitcomet keep crashing. Can't let it download overnight.

I like uTorrent cause it use less memory so I can torrent and play game but the download speed is x5 times slower than Bitcomet..

Any other program to recommend..?

Just wondering maybe my Bitcomet using the same port as my 2nd PC?

I have this torrent, size 500MB+. Speed is 50kB/s, so usually in around 5 hours it should finish. However, the ETA column shows 20+ hours, sometimes reaching 60+, sometimes 99. My DU Meter shows there is data coming in, but the ETA is so horribly long, and the % finished moves very very slowly. Why is that? Where are all the incoming data going?

Thanks if anybody could shed any light on this.

Sorry, didn't notice this post

what version of BitComet you using now? and can't reinstall fix the problem??
other program that recommended will be xunlei since that many people said it is fast...

But if 2 BitComet using the same port under the same router... it is strongly not recommended

I managed to fix my Bitcomet already.. Don't know what is the exact problem but now it's gone.. Can download like previously without crashing.. 30 episodes of drama halfday done already..

Not bad la can try out different download manager.. Now only I know BitComet is always the fastest.. I tried xunlei, utorrent & azureus.. All max is 20kB/s only..

Anyway to Dannyl, I think it's normal for some file to act like that..
I download 100Mb file @ 190kB/s .. In 1 minute time it suppose to be at somewhere around 10% but it only shows 3%.. Maybe the seeder sending rubbish.. I asked that question before but no one answer me..

Wait a minute. You are using manual connect or auto connect?

What u mean only can download 1 file only? Izzit the download speed stays at 0kB/s or the file got diamond logo beside it?

Try go to preference and change maximum download task to 3 ..

After you reset your router modem, don't forget to do the portforward again.

Make sure your portforward procedure is correct, and make sure there is only 1 firewall using in your computer. Do not use 2 or more firewall in the same computer (this include Windows Firewall)

Please update your BitComet to latest version
and make sure that every file in the BitComet folder is not "Read Only"

Please tell me what version you using after you update (in case if you are not update to version 1.00)

rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif I got TM Streamyx 1M with Billion ADSL Router.
May I know where can I set these::

Go to your modem setting. Open explorer and simply type 192.168.1.1
Key in the username and password.

Go to services. Enable the NAT. Click Submit.

Then use NAT Rule Entry. Click ADD. It will show something like this :-

user posted image
Once again the port number must be the same like what is shown in the Bitcomet's Listen Port.

In the Protocol drop down menu. Pick TCP now and make another one for UDP with the same setting.

Click Submit.

Then go to IP Filter. Set your security level to low. Other settings just put " Accept ". Submit again.

Go to Admin tab > Commit & Reboot. Press Commit. Then press Reboot.

Disconnect. Reconnect. Try your download again. You should get good speed now.

IF not getting good speed ( with many seeders ). Try :-

1. Stop the download and start again
2. Disconnect and reconnect again
3. Check your 3rd party antivirus / firewall program
4. Disable any worm protection

Just set the Protocol Encryption to "Always"
and you will get most of them......

anyway, I just see the DHEv2 on BitComet later version... I also not sure what is that... tongue.gif

which version is the most stable one? Preferable 0.90+ version...

because recently my computer has weird things happened. Yesterday I was downloading and I change upload setting, after click ok and minimize it, my computer suddenly shut down by itself.

and i now i use 1.01 version which quite clashing with zonealarm

I'm not sure whether is Bitcomet causing the problem or maybe is hardware problem...

If like that
then try check your speed...

If your download speed is fast, then ignore the yellow light because it is possibly false alarm...

Else, if your speed is slow, then go to look at the 2nd post of this thread.

Since that the upload is fast, then it probably mean you have did portforward and firewall have allow the BitComet connection...

It is better you limit your upload speed like what I have posted in Post#2...
If it is still slow, blame the peer and our ISP

I'm not sure about the speed since that I didn't download anything nowadays...

But if I'm not mistaken, Singapore doesn't allow P2P... once you use it, get caught... and I don't know what will happen...

If you have applied 3rd party tcp/ip patch then there is no need to apply the bitcomet patch anymore
e.g. EvID4226Patch223d-en http://www.lvllord.de/?lang=en&url=downloads

Btw, tan_pang, can please update my bitcomet version at the first page? I have upgraded to 1.02, thanks.

Because you have limited bandwidth.

Try Cfospeed traffic shaping.

First, i've just check CfosSpeed site and i've read some forumer said that this software can boost internet speed, maintain low ping in online games, fast downloads but theres a few individual said it doesnt affect bitcomet download speed... And im a streamyx 88 per month package so which one i should download?

Second, why during noon till midnight bitcomet download speed is so slow, limited bandwidth also?

try to limit your upload and download speed if you wish to surf smooth while you are downloading.
for e.g. 1mb package, you can limit the upload to 24KBps. And try to limit the number of connections per task also.

or u may try the latest version of bitcomet 1.02

cfosSpeed does help a bit in a way or so, but depends on how is the situation. FYI, cfosSpeed still couldn't handle too much connections simultaneously.

if the speed always drop during that period of time... could b possible cause of throttle... but i'm not too sure on that... which area you in btw?

you need to download and install programs like WinRar or 7zip to extract the content first. Those .r01... until .rar are multiple archives compression.

to get 7zip (it's a freeware): http://www.filehippo.com/download_7-zip/3541/

just install as normal program, then after complete installation, right click on the .rar file and choose extract here.

Currently I'm using Window XP Home Edition SP3, Bitcomet 1.02 and Tmnet Streamyx 1mbps package.
How do I turn the listen port become green which shown in the picture below?
I remembered last time I did it and the download speed is extremely fast (70~100kb/s) as i can receive from local and remote.
I'm now receive all Local only and the speed is around 30~39kb/s , sometime will reach 50kb/s but just a while only sad.gif

I'm experiencing the same problem as pspknightx.

Followed portforward.com's instructions and allowed BitComet in all firewall applicatoins. However, still no avail.

May be you can try to limit the number of connections per task? Or the upload limit to a lower value?

When there is no one surfing, you can always set the download speed to unlimited, while maintain your upload speed around 24KBps.
As for the other question... better google to find out brows.gif

Mine too.

I decrease the max simultaneous half open TCP connections and disable DHT network and I'm able to surf and download again.

But somehow my upload seems to sucks badly, haven't figured out that yet.

the recent windows update is revising the tcpip.sys and restricting the half-open tcp again. i increased the limit to 50 and so far it's working fine.

Hello torrent freaks. tongue.gif

I got a problem. Yeah, as usual. Most new post or replies are problems, problems and loads of problems. LOL

Aight, the problem is goes like this; I used to have 0.92 BitComet previously. All of a sudden, someone un-installed BitComet off this PC. So, the solution is to get it installed back again. Downloaded the latest BitComet 1.02 and got it up and running. So far, I've only managed to download 3 tasks ever since using this new 1.02 version.

Now, the problem shows up like few posts above, in a pop-up ballon saying 'Yellow Light'. Well, I took the initiative to Google it up for a solution. Then after reading the so called solution (from BitComet blog) I simply right click the 'Yellow Light' and chose 'Check Again'. After few tries, still, the Yellow Light still there. unsure.gif

I have no idea on how to get it solved.

I might try PortForward it. I think I haven't done it yet since 0.92. doh.gif

well, lets see if it goes any better.

oh btw, I simply install it. Didn't do any setup of download setting at all. Should I do?

pspknightx, your IP dude! Get the sccrenshot removed! laugh.gif

for those having problem with surfing the net after installing the latest windows update, do you have ZoneAlarm firewall installed?

I read somewhere that you need to update your ZoneAlarm to latest version, then it should be solved.

btw, still using Bitcomet 1.02 here and happy with the speed. But I notice if my IP starts with 218.xxx.xxx.xxx the d/l speed and number of seeds will be different than with 60.xxx.xxx.xxx

ah.. nvm. Just figured it out how to solve my own problem. Port Forwarding! tongue.gif

Oh ya, I wanted to know like my case, I do not let my router switched 'on' 24-7 and so that'll make my case falls under 'dynamic IPs'. Now, what bothers me is, do I need to do port forwarding each time the router is restarted because the IP will be differnt from previously?

I thought the first thing to do in port forwarding is to make sure your PC has a static IP address?
Manually assign your PC with a static IP address (e.g. if your router IP is 192.168.0.1, then assign your PC 192.168.0.2, with port forward to your IP). If you have other PCs in the network, just change the DHCP IP to start from other range to avoid conflict.

LOL... you're understanding it wrongly. The 'dynamic IP' you're referring to is the WAN (Wide area network) IP - otherwise known as IP given by our internet provider, Streamyx. It usually starts with 60.xxx.xxx.xxx or 218.xxx.xxx.xxx (maybe there are other ranges, but I never get them)

The IP you're using to port forward is your LAN (local area network) IP. Otherwise known as the address given by your local router or your PC's individual address. You can set this IP to be static.

Don't confuse ya? icon_rolleyes.gif

you can test the port forward at this url: http://www.whatsmyip.org/ports/ (under custom port)

if the test result is positive, then what you can try is restart your bitcomet or restart the modem to refresh the connection, or just try a few rounds of checking the IP

btw, how's the speed of download? some people can still get good speed although it's showing yellow

if I'm not mistaken DSL600EW is 3-in-1 device with modem/wired router/wireless router built in right? if so, it is easier to configure and port forward than a separate modem and router set up

perhaps you can let us know what is your current LAN IP and Gateway IP. You can get this by Start > Run > type in "cmd" without the quotes > type in "ipconfig/all" without the quotes

by default, the Gateway IP should be "192.168.1.1" and your LAN IP should be Automatic if you haven't set it manually

Port forwarding is not easy as it sounds; you need to know/set your Gateway IP, LAN IP and allow the ports in your router, Firewall and application (ie Bitcomet). Only then you can get full speed/green light in Bitcomet

Tested the port at the website given and the result was 'Port 17320 Timed-Out'. doh.gif

Checked the IP via 'ipconfig /all' and the IP address is just the same as what I have done yesterday for the static IP address. No changes. I used 192.168.1.10 and both the one in Network Connections and Command window shows the same IP address.

Btw, I think I have another problem. I was trying to see if I did the port forward correctly (if the port number I entered in Port Forward is the same as what BitComet is using). So, opened up new window and keyed 192.168.1.1 to load the modem page. Nothing fancy here, the page loads as usual. Then, I clicked on 'Advance' to access the advance settings. No drama as well, the 'Advance' page loads perfectly. But, the drama starts when I clicked on Port Forwarding. It says that I need to insert LAN IP address in order to do that. huh.gif

Something like this:

[attachmentid=534890]

What should I do? icon_question.gif Is this normal after you setup static IP address?

The modem/router model is Aztech DSL600EW.

yes, you are correct! Its a 3-in-1 modem/router.

LAN IP address : 192.168.1.10
Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1

I have already set the IP address manually yesterday. tongue.gif

The port Bitcomet listen to [17320 TDP, 17320 UCP] are already exempted by Windows Firewall. And already did the port forwarding via the router yesterday.

Currently doing 2 tasks simultaneously but only 1 task that is downloading because the other task has only 800 seeds while 8000 leechers so it's physically not moving. tongue.gif The max download speed I can get just now is 32kB/s for 512kbps line I'm using and with yellow light. unsure.gif

I followed everything shown previously.

And now, I cant do port forwarding anymore because whenever I tried to click on Port Forwarding in the modem setup page, it'll ask me to enter LAN IP address (refer my previous post). What the hell is that? huh.gif

now.. what should I do? It's still blocked.

The thing is, last nite I port forward using my WAN IP address as my Static IP address during the Port Forward. After port forwarding, no more blocked and its green light. Any reason why? hmm.gif

about the LAN IP address, you just key in any IP within the range, for your case, it's from 192.168.1.2 until 192.168.1.254 (or you can even enter your static IP), after that it wont bothers you again.

you can manually assign it under LAN section as well.

forward to your WAN IP will only works when you are still using that IP. Unlike LAN IP which always works no matter what WAN IP you get.

The port forward is to be done at your modem/router. What is your modem/router's brand or model?
Or may be you can try find it here http://www.portforward.com/english/routers...routerindex.htm yourself?

Hi guys, just want to ask - Bitcomet's Scheduler doesn't work at all, right? I know that Utorrent's Scheduler works but BitComet's doesn't.

Perhaps there is a way to 'make' it work?

Try change the listen port...

By the way, 12345 is not safe to use because some malware is using it to transferring data...

The "Global Address From" in the NAT setting mean from what IP start to apply this rules...
The IP here is LAN IP, and you have to make 1 first...

Hi guys, please help me with this

I started downloading a 20gb anime torrent on BitCom... but I got not enough hdd space, so i started only 5gb. After the 5gb completed, I forgot to do a manual hash check to confirm complete.

I backup the 5gb and then deleted the original files from the C:\Download.... and set the completed files as "banned" under the priorities. However, when i play the anime, i found that the files not complete and cannot play properly. But when i put back the files into C:\dowloads, and reset the priority to "normal", and do a manual hash check, BitCom still can't recognize it and start the download from 0% again. Is there a way I can continue my download? I even tried renaming the file with a .bc! extension behind but still cannot...

Thanks first

dear kaizsheng, can u provide us your modem/router model?
Listening Port 23440, set in virtual server with tcp/udp listening mode.
Tick the Enable UPnP port mapping.
Beside that, u had told me that u cant browse internet after u port forward your bitcomet. Can u please post a screenshot of TCP/IP in your bitcomet setting? It should be at least 500 above (i set it as 10000) biggrin.gif
Below are some screenshot of my bitcomet setting.

Don't forget to post ur modem or router model here too !

And i am using 4mb/s RM160/mth Package, i don't think a normal 1mb/s package can reach that speed as well. And u have a good 218 ip over there. Forget to mention, i only full speed seeding when after i finish my downloads. so i capped my upload speed per task at 3kb/s. icon_idea.gif

erm i somehow try to learn how to port forwarding. but i don't understand from this step..

QUOTE
Step 4:
I want you to write down some of the information in this window. Take down the IP address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, and Name Servers. Make sure to note which is which. We are going to use this information a little bit later.

The name server entries are a bit complicated. Name Server is just another name for DNS(domain name server) server. Some router's act as a proxy between the actual name servers and your computer. You will know when this is the case, because the Default Gateway will list the same ip address as the Name Servers entry. We need to have the correct Name Server IP addresses. If we do not, you will not be able to browse the web. There are a couple ways to get these. The first way is to log into your router's web interface, and look at your router's status page. On that page you should see an entry for DNS Servers, or Name Servers. Write down the ip adresses of your Name Servers. Another way to get the correct Name Servers to use, is to give your ISP a call. They should know the ip addresses of your Name Servers right off. If they ask you why you need them, you can tell them you are trying to setup a static IP address on your computer. If they try to sell you a static external ip address, don't buy it. That's an entirely different thing that what you are trying to setup.

Type exit in this window, then press the enter key to close it.

from portforward.com

some pls tell me how to "log into your router's web interface, and look at your router's status page" to find the Name Server ip. i realy dun understnd this step.

It is simple. Just type the default gateway in your internet browser (IE, firefox)

example: http://192.168.0.1

mine's default gateway might different with you.

To get router/gateway IP:

click [Start] > click "Run" > type: cmd > click [OK]
At the Command Prompt, enter: ipconfig /all
from the screen, you should be able to see your default gateway IP or your router IP.

from your posted snapshots, the last one may be you can apply a larger number of 100 ~ 256

yep, just followed what yelsew said. patch the tcp/ip too 100 ~ 500 or higher than that, will allow more connection inbound (correct my if i am wrong).

Hey guys, do u feel any slowdown with Bitcomet today? I'm using Utorrent 1.8 and just starting from today my download speed is rarely above 15kb/s. Yesterday still can get 50kb/s average (using Streamyx 66 package)
*
just to report back that my utorrent is up again, going full speed around 52kb/s averagely from yesterday's max 15kb/s

I think if you have the right configuration, then will not have any problem...

Even the speed issue also because of our ISP......

So, let check the 2nd post in this thread...
is there anything I need to add, remove or edit??

The application C:\Program Files\BitComet\BitComet.exe cannot establish connection with server 00.000.000.00. Please check your internet connection settings. If you have a firewall installed, check that the application avp.exe is allowed internet access.<<<

actually it depends on the number of seeders..
means if u really have a good connection but the number of seeders is low..so u cannot get the high speed

i had a bad experience regarding BC.
whenever i on BC, it prompts me to change the tcpip half open limit. I read that i should "Set my 'New Half-Open Limit' higher than 10 (recommended >50)".. after done tat, and restart, my laptop cannot connect to internet or LAN anymore. Coz it canot create IP. i try to delete the tcpip.sys and rename the tcpip.sys.ORIGINAL but failed.
anyone can help? coz i think my BC should not be so slow.. there is always no seed for the torrent files. Im using MAxis broadband and BC version 1.00.

thx ;p

Are you using WindowXP Home Edition? Try to start your window in safe mode, then proceed to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers , rename the tcpip.sys.ORIGINAL to tcpip.sys. IT should helps.

Hi All,

I am experiencing slow download in bitcomet since tuesday night (16/09/2008). The maximum it can reach is only less than 10kb. Before this it can go up to 60kb (my streamyx package is 512mbps only).

When i look at the peers, i notice that i can only connect to remote peers. All the local peers including persistent seeds were not there. Dunno what's wrong.

Did anybody also facing this problem? Just want to find out whether this happen only on me. Thanks.

I remember this happen before. It was around 2 or 3 months ago. But just for a few days. After that my download speed back to normal as according to my package…..Dunno whether this time they are going to do it for permanent or just temporary…...

I think at the time being, we may have to use other p2p download software. I tried Xunlei, it looks like the speed is quite ok. I can sometimes get 50-60 kb (I am satisfied with this speed coz my package is 512mbps. Refer to the attachment). But sometimes the speed not so stable. It can drop until 10kb or 0kb but it will go up again after a while.

I actually prefer bitcomet coz i found it is more stable compare to xunlei. But at the moment got no choice. Have to try others until TMNUT stop their blocking on P2P or at least open back the LT Seed connection ??? (Dunno whether that day will come or not)

Hi JavaKom09088,

I don't think is the windows update problem. My windows is up to date but it still doesn't help to speed up my download in bitcomet since tuesday.

Added on September 20, 2008, 12:30 pmCamel90,

U have to do a port forward in your modem/router in order to make it green/unblocked.

U may try to look for some guide from here:

thanks ur suggestion sounds logic but not so much common sense.. tq
if this block goin on permanently i think the best boycott would be all StreamyX subscriber downgrade their package to the basic one...and let's TMNUTS have a huge revenue fall by the end of the year.. telling them ur reason to downgrade ur package is I DONT NEED SO MUCH BANDWIDTH for Surfing!

I'm new to use Btorrent...while using streamyx 1Mbps packages....I'm wondering what might cause my dl rate is too low ...only 1 kbps...??? I'm not setting any speed limit at Btorrent...and i'm using a wireless router, checked there is no speed limit function...what could it be the reason???

The speed increased may be the peer is from Malaysia not internation peers.

I complaint to tmnut I subscribed b'cos their FAQ say I can use p2p at non-peak hour.
And I told them I will dgrade it 'cos I dun need so high bandwidth for web surfing and email.

Lets dgrade it!!!!

all are just same theory..~
since u can reach the list of option for games...then try to add ur a new application port by urself..
if u really not sure how to did it...go google about how to port forward for your router..

Did u do double router port forwarding? U need to do port forward on both DI-524 & DSL-500T. U may do a search in google on how to do double router port forwarding.

Added on September 23, 2008, 12:47 pmCan anybody confirm whether the BT speed is back to normal and able to download at full speed as mentioned in Post #297 by unknown ?

Hey guys,

I started using Bitcomet 0.64 modded version like 2 weeks ago. Everything was fine, d/l speed was very good. Then... recently (these 2 days), my internet connection always disconnects if the PC is left idle with bitcomet running. If I'm surfing the Net while bitcomet is running, then no problem.

The major problem is, I can't re-connect my line unless I restarted my PC (resetting my modem router doesn't help either). Anyone of you ever experienced this? Is it something to do with the settings under the modded version? Any re-configuration to the Preference that could avoid disconnection without compromising the current d/l speed?

TQ

BitComet didn't work for me since the first version came out. My PC disconnects when I uses it. The Internet light on my modem goes off. I use BitLord still okay but getting very slow speed.

Well, guys, do what I do.. Keep Complaining to TM hotline @ 1300881515.

They will ask you to do a speed check at
http://www.speedtest.net/
but be warned, the figures are adjusted to make it look likes its fast. Just tell them a shortage of download around 350+ and upload of 200++ and make them log-in a report
Follow up daily and keep bugging them. I even threaten to complain to Consumer Rights, refer :- http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/771011

Anyway, my point is, KEEP COMPLAINING AND FLOOD THEIR DAMN LINE!!!!!... and maybe they will do something about it

means streamyx is controlling the maximum speed you can get thru bitcomet
no amount of port forwarding will help you regarding this

lately dont know what's wrong with bitcomet download... seems to be a major down fall of the speed :/

just tried xunlei for 30 minutes++, the speed seems to be more impressive than the current bitcomet performance...

hopefully bitcomet will get through this and once again become our favourite bt client smile.gif

Happen this about 1 week ago, which most ppl facing this kind of problem i think? Tuesday if not wrong...

Before this, my average download rate is 1xxkb/s for one torrent, even I'm not a register user.

Btw, I'm from sarawak. I tried the speedtest.net, it shows that my dl = 13xxkb/s, up = 4xx/s.

Sigh while throttled by cb streamyx. I switch to use xunlei. I guess streamyx forgot to throttle that, getting max speed 450kb/s instead of 2kb/s when downloading naruto..
downloading now, just 5 mins, already 50%.

http://www.bitcomet.com/doc/download-achive.htm

I found this site with all versions/releases of Bitcomet.
I wanted to know what is the use of the plugins. For example BitComet_1.04_plugin.
Will it speed up my downloads ?
I used to get around 70kB/s but now I get about 20kB/s at the most and on average 5kB/s

I'm going to try xunlei today and see what happens

look at what the f**kin TmNut got in for us shakehead.gif vmad.gif

http://www.streamyx.com.my/customer_care/c...ir_usage_policy

QUOTE
TM is committed to ensuring our customers receive the best broadband service at the most competitive price. To achieve this goal, we provide a contended broadband service. This means our Internet bandwidth (capacity) is catered to be shared by all our customers at any one point in time, to ensure we provide a satisfactory and acceptable performance on an equal basis to all our customers.

However, a small number of customers use more than their "fair share" of the Internet bandwidth provided by us. On average, about 10% of our customers are using a disproportionate amount of Internet bandwidth. These customers degrade the performance of our broadband service by taking bandwidth away from other customers, who use the service fairly.

For example, some customers use P2P or file sharing software, which constantly sends and receives videos and other types of very large files, throughout the day. These activities (download and upload continuously) use a lot of bandwidth and can significantly reduce the connection speed, which other customers are getting to access the Internet during peak hours. We don’t believe this is fair to the vast majority of our customers.

We wish to bring to your attention our traffic prioritization policy with regards to P2P and Fair Usage Policy. We would like to reiterate that the P2P throughput is subject to peers (seed) availability and their throughput as well.  Kindly note that TM does not have any control over peers’ availability or throughput.

The Fair Usage Policy automatically identifies the extremely heavy users and manages their bandwidth in order to protect the service of all our other customers. This traffic prioritization policy will protect the quality of service for the majority of our customers when they use the service, while at the same time, still allowing the extremely heavy users to continue to send and receive files with certain restrictions. With this policy in place, we will prioritize Internet activities like web browsing, live streaming, messaging applications and VOIP access while traffic to P2P sites will be given lower priority, due to the high bandwidth consumption of such services.

We wish to also highlight that as an Internet Service Provider (ISP), TM only provides access to the Internet and does not guarantee content delivery and performance where it is not within the domain of TM as an ISP. In fact, our international traffic management policy is designed to cater for all our customers so they have an optimal surfing experience within the normal limits of Internet usage.

As our priority is for all our customers to have a positive Internet experience, we wish to emphasize that it is important for all our customers to practice responsible usage of the allocated bandwidth based on normal usage.

We would like to reiterate that we are not against the use of P2P but we would like to educate our customers that the usage of excessive P2P does impact the overall service availability to our other customers.

TM does provide every customer with an allocated bandwidth, where other customers may use when not used by the others.  Unfortunately, the nature of P2P more often than not, takes more than their allocated bandwidth, thus causing undue setbacks for other users when they want to use the service.

As a responsible service provider, we believe it is our responsibility and commitment to educate and encourage responsible usage of the infrastructure we provide.

We are using more than our fair share??!!! vmad.gif They are seriously cari pasal here vmad.gif Did we use some hack to steal bandwidth? No! We use the internet as what they've advertised and promised in the 1st place. Unlimited 1mbps. And now they accuse us of using "MORE THAN OUR FAIR SHARE" vmad.gif vmad.gif

Let us flood the SKMM mailbox with complaints, streamyx is really in for a fight now. vmad.gif

Tried XUnlei and it seems like it has no difference, just getting 7KBps average speed from it.

PS: I'm getting better speeds using Utorrent, around 20KBps as apposed to 7KBps from Xunlei.

but i have also encounter the program close after a few second.

i still remember the steps, i made before and after installation, see whether it helps.....

1) right click and run administrator on the xunlei setup exe file
2) i did off my firewall,
3) everytime i start xunlei, i always use "run as administrator"
4) uninstall other torrent clients

as long as it's a green light at the right-lower-corner infront of your IP, that one doesnt matter.

it's grayed out when you have applied other TCP patch.

sorry, I got confused the port forwarding with the TCP patch doh.gif

the yellow light shows all the time or just sometimes? If it's all the time then u better check ur port forwarding.
If it's just sometimes, it's normal.

as for TCP patch, u can check with this page here.

it's for Windows XP and it's been tested world wide that it's working fine.

I used it on my XP PC and so far no problem.

But bear in mind that if u use that 3rd party patch, u dont apply the one in bitcomet. It's a one time patch.

one time patch means u only need to apply once.

the only place u might see a difference is at the Event Viewer where u wont see a 4226 warning message log. Download speed not only depends on that patch, there are still other factors affecting it.

That in normal circumstances isn't recommended. Would saturate your connection with overhead. Furthermore, certain routers have issues with handling such large numbers of connections.

Generally 300 connections global max (I set mine to 23) and 80 per torrent.

But then again this is on an unthrottled connection, not sure how your settings work in an throttled scenario like TMNet.

Hi,
I'm very very green in the world of torrents.
I have always been scared of torrents because i never know how to use it.. Forexample, now I'm using uTorrent and my download speed is only around 4kB/s, very slow compared to normal download of 40kB/s. BTW, I'm in Penang using streamyx $66/month package.

After reading some of the post in this thread, i learn that:
1) I should use BitComet.
2) Set portforwarding
3) use only 1 firewall in windows XP

Hmm.. if i use Streamyx $66 package, what is the download speed i should expect..? Sure it should be higher than 4kB/s right..?
Can all the BitComet sifus please help me to get better download speed.. Thanks alot..

Oh.. one more thing i forgot to ask.. Sometimes i see people talking about adding dunno what name and BitComet version number to the list.. what list is it..?

torrent download not really faster than default/http download, it depends on what u are downloading and from where... but then some stuffs you can't get them from regular download sites "free"

please do read more on the bt downloading articles (try google and wikipedia) in order to understand more on this field.

and.... welcome to the BT world wink.gif

w/o ad is more better, lite usage when using it.
but u need to have enough ram to run it, unless u use hehehunter the classic xunlei as that one is lite usage.

guys, I'm using 1.02. Just curious if this sounds right.

Seed/Peer[All] = 3/10[16/1921] = 7kBps
Seed/Peer[All] = 3/9[7/193] = 0 kBps
Seed/Peer[All] = 1/7[9/820] = 0 kBps

downloading 3 files simultaneously with Global dl rate set to 50kBps and Global ul rate set to 10 kBps.

Hi
I've been having some problem with my bitcomet. I'm using version 1.00, and this problem started since last monday.
Whenever a task in Bitcomet is downloading, even when i limit the global download speed to 15kb/s, my browsers (IE, Chrome, Safari, Firefox) all cannot access internet. And Windows Live Messenger will fail to connect to the server, Kaspersky will not be able to connect to the update server. Basically besides bitcomet, all other programs will be isolated from the internet. is there a way to fix this?? I tried uninstalling n reinstalling, but it will not be fixed.
I use bitcomet because it can do BT and HTTP downloads using one program.. uTorrent is light but doesnt do HTTP downloads..

I don't understand why some ppl cant download at high speed using torrents.
If seeders exceed 100, your download speed should reach ard 50kb/s.
300 seeders and above should be around 100kb/s.
My highest record was 245kb/s with about 1000 seeders.
And I'm using 1mbps tmnet streamyx.
Maybe its because you're using a lousy torrent software.....

May be it's other programs that conflict with your bitcomet? or try to do some reg cleaning

I just downloaded bitcomet yesterday, and I noticed that most ppl use the term "kbps" in their thread, but mine shows kBps (the little square thing showing download & upload speeds), is there something wrong with my settings?

I'm using TMnet 512kbps, did port forwarding, but still show yellow light, and my download speed is a whooping 60+ kBps last night. If i'm not mistaken, 1 kBps = 8 kbps, why is my speed so high even though I have yellow light?

Thanks for advice..

Added on November 19, 2008, 4:51 pmI used www.canyouseeme.org & www.whatismyip.org to test my port, and both confirmed that my bitcomet port is open, but why is the yellow light is still there?

Hi there!
I use this program since v0.6 for the past 3 years, now I have the first problems because my ISP is killing bandwidth. I'm trying to fing a way to avoid their detection of p2p code. The new versions have encription protocol wich at first worked, but now again the same problem, my speed is less than 20k/s with continuous amount of peers conected and disconected like a rollercoaster.
I think you are experts in this because you have this problem since more time, please help me!!!
I instaled the ARP thinking that it make diference... but not.
And now i'm thinking in that DHE protocol, which I have no idea from where download it.
Any sugestion will'be welcome.
Thanks.
Ari from Argentina.

50 is edy good enuf for torrent more then bt client 1000 connection
1000 task is killing ur modem and router...too much connection modem and router chip will very hot then hang or restart

200 task connection is good enuf

The bitcomet passport does affect your download speed FYI, the higher level you get the you get higher constant speed. But stupid Tmnut blocked the trackers so I can no longer use Bitcomet anymore. Now the bitcomet wont even go past 1KB/s.

FYI, if I logout and dun use the bitcomet passport I get about 40~70KB/s, after I log in I get a constant speed at around 100KB/s.(level 22 rank colonel)

last time i use this tweaked bitcomet 0.64 on my XP SP2,the speed can reach 200kbps
but now on Vista 32bit,the speed just about 50-60kbps
TCP half open(on bitcomet): 200

well 1st reason might be that torrent is not shared by many and thus when no one online u can't leech from them... or 2nd reason is the streamyx problem.. try connect and disconnect to get a good ip..

I'm a 1MB package subsricber. Using BC from version 0.64 until the latest version. when i start use BC version 0.99 my download very superb can reach 100 kb/s but then all of sudden my speed drops to max 10kb/s but still that time normal download without BC can reach 50 kb/s. i thought that time maybe my BC obsolete, so i change to a new BC version but still problem occur. i even restart my modem to get best IP but still no changes and to make it worse even normal download without BC also poor and only reach 7kb/s. any advice on my situation? is it true if download more than a quota( heard a rumor about this) provided by TM, you will be throttle by them evethough your package are unlimited download. Is subscribe to third party ISP will solve this problem? Any constructive suggestion are welcome.
