For GSC, you can check which hall is showing if you have an e-payment login. Once you've selected the cinema, the movie listing has an 'HFR' to distinguish between 24p and 48p.

For me, the 48p in Gardens was worth it. For RM32, you get physically excellent seats, no queue, 48p and the best of all, THX. But I do admit the hot dog was abit expensive. RM7 is like a KFC meal.
48p works fantastic during the action sequence. But it kind of dulls down during dialogue session. Maybe it was the camera angle, maybe it was the characters. Not as 'memorable' as the Fellowship. Heck, I can't even name a single dwarf. Ok, ok, The Hobbit was originally meant as a children's book.

Before I watched it, heard LOTS of comments about the WTF ending. So, here's what I initially though will happen - Bilbo masuk the dragon lair, show dragon head, then credits roll. But I was wrong. Very wrong. And I don't have any problems with the overall ending.
Between Atmos and THX, it's a gamble. Those who saw it in Atmos had positive comments on the barrel scene. Coz Atmos is built mainly on surround. Those who watched in THX had positive comments on the dragon scene. Coz THX is mainly on 'kick'. Obviously, Atmos can deliver the same 'kick' as THX but you can find alot of comments saying that they recessed the Atmos punch for unknown reasons.
Oh, and for the first time, I saw Legolas got slightly hurt. Not as badly as Aragon. But he 'was' near immortal in LOTR123.
