Got reply from TGV for HFR 3D-ready cinema list:
Hi Ninja, we will be screening The Hobbit 3D in 48fps at TGV KLCC, Sunway, Bukit Tinggi, Tebrau City, SetiaWalk & Wangsa Walk. Please stay tuned for more updates on the tickets advance sales ya. Thanks!

*
Got anymore updates bro?
How to know which screening is 48fps? I'm assuming all IMAX screenings at Sunway will be 48fps, right?

Got the following update from TGV. Apparently, IMAX version will be 24fps only, not 48fps. Normal 3D will feature 48fps.

Thanks bro!

BTW 1Utama TGV already opened?

Just got back from HFR The Hobbit at TGV.
HFR is freaking awesome drool.gif

Was a bit skeptical at first because people been saying it's like watching those soap operas on TV or behind the scene footage, but it's NOT. It's totally different.
Looking forward to watch more movies in this format.

Ok. I'm going to do a little analysis here with regards to the movie and Tolkien's book.

Don't get me wrong. The Hobbit : An Unexpected Journey is not a bad movie by far. Great production values and special effects. I'm just a little bummed out that they dragged it out like they did but that's just me.

As always, analysis cannot be made without revealing details of the movie so spoilers are ahead.

Enjoyed reading your opinion, bro.
I think you would've love Del Torro's The Hobbit better.

Tickets are selling already !!

Anyone remember where the new 3d HDR was showing ... was it all TGV and IMAX halls?

At tgv website, there's even a new option called 3D-X ... but only KLCC and non PJ places.... whats 3D-X ?
*
Here, from last year's post:
QUOTE(maxpudding @ Dec 15 2012, 12:40 PM)
TGV

IMAX 3D: 24 fps
3D, 48 fps : KLCC, Sunway Pyramid, Bukit Tinggi, Tebrau City ,1Utama, SetiaWalk (Puchong), Wangsa Walk, Bukit Indah, Rawang (locations not mentioned, will screen in 24 fps)
Non 3D halls : 24 fps

GSC got only two places showing hfr 3D if I'm not mistaken, the gardens and pavilion
*
But not if they doing the same for this year or not hmm.gif

This time I'm gonna watch with Dolby Atmos . Last time I watch Oblivion in  Vietnam's Atmos theaters , the sound system is amazing
*
Dolby Atmos is available at GSC 1 Utama hall 3 right?

Hmm now I'm torn between watching it on Dolby Atmos at GSC or HFR 3D at TGV

I can see they now have Atmos for the 3D/HFR version (scroll down) for GSC 1u now available for booking - 3 shows per day.
*
So its Atmos + HFR 3d at GSC 1U? It's the one on hall 3 right?
Then definitely gonna catch it there.

Bye bye Tgv tongue.gif

So the atmos hall in GSC 1U shows it in HFR right?

Does TGV IMAX in 1U show it in HFR?
*
Yup the GSC 1U Atmos hall shows it in 3D HFR, and they're showing it in 2D as well,

3.15PM & 1.00am= Atmos 2D
12:00PM, 6:30PM, 9:45PM= Atmos 3D HFR

TGV IMAX at 1U only normal 3D, not HFR.

That was for regular hall. IMAX hall only normal 3D, not HFR.

Now inside hall 3... stupid 3d HFR is not working! !

Its already 30mins and they keep playing and stopping... testing in progress!!

WTF... THEY SHOULD HAVE TEST BEFORE this.... WTF! !
*
QUOTE(crazyconsumer @ Dec 12 2013, 03:18 PM)
Just finished the movie.

After some shouting and booing, staff with walkie talkies informed whoever in projector room about the unrest. Finally, movie started without issue... what the heck were they testing before that?!? Stupid., end up no trailers etc.

Even got calibration pattern... major fail beginning.

[attachmentid=3765551]
HFR was normal like tgv experience. Not even sure Atmos was in action.... like no difference. Not surprised they screw that up too. Some scenes have nice surround effects eg forest, rain... but I can't say if its due to atmos
*
Haha I was in the same hall as you just now.

Maybe they were calibrating the Atmos during those 30 minutes and when that guy with the walkie talkie informed the projector people they decided to go ahead without the Atmos doh.gif The surround sound effects that we got was pretty normal, IMAX TGV 1U is miles better.

Agree with you, they have plenty of time to do it, the show starts at 12.00, why must do it at last minute.

Any one else catching the movie at GSC Atmos later? Make sure to give us your feedback.

Okay, waiting for your feedback. Night show sure more people if they do funny things like just now again sure more commotion.

And give us your feedback about the Atmos, hope they'll get it right for your screening.

Did they show the Atmos demo clips before the movie start ?
*
Nope they didn't, that's another reason why I think we were just hearing regular surround sound instead of Atmos.

During the 30 minutes before the movie started they were showing the opening of the movie, again and again, sometimes it's 3d, sometimes it's 2d, sometimes it's just a distorted version. Then they showed some movie trailer with Ben Stiller, but even that also got problem and they didn't finished showing the trailer laugh.gif

But I did saw those overheads speakers on the roof just like in that Atmos video. But not sure if it was used or not during my screening.

Owh crap. Now I have pressure on me. laugh.gif

I think the 6.45PM slot is about to begin. Then again, the 2D version is underway now. So lets hope there's someone here who can help us with an earlier Atmos review.

There is however, 1 thing that bothers me. It's a fantasy movie. what if certain sounds, are just meant to be downplayed? How would I know on that one?

But I'll let you know if I end up looking behind me if there's coming from there. That's what I'm looking forward to.
*
haha no need pressure la, just tell us your experience and if you have to wait for 30 minutes like us just now laugh.gif

and maybe you could look out for any Atmos intro or demo before the movie starts. Like last time got that THX intro.

They showed that trailer like 3 times just now, but each time it got distorted and didn't finish. doh.gif
The final time they showed it there's a scene where was Ben Stiller at a door just "stuck" at the screen and it stayed there even when the Hobbit already started, before they just shutdown the projector.

definitely my worst experience ever at a cinema.

Hmm no one still haven't mentioned about that Twilight level love triangle? laugh.gif I cringed so hard during that scene where Kate was healing Kili.

Also Smaug while he looks great and all, and that scene between him and Bilbo was quite interesting, it all went downhill when he starts chasing the dwarfs. He looks so dumb and clumsy. Is he like that in the novel too? I thought dragons supposed to be intelligent and cunning? Reminded me of Tom from Tom and Jerry when he tried to chase them.
Also Smaug looks more like a wyvern than a dragon, no?

Anyway GSC still goofing around? doh.gif

So no Silmarillion movie or any other form of adaptations of it, at least until who ever that owns the right to it after Christopher Toilken, allows it.

QUOTE
But Jackson won’t make the film — because he’s not allowed to. Peter Jackson doesn’t own the rights to The Silmarillion.

The rights to the book reside in the hands of Christopher Tolkien, J.R.R. Tolkien’s son who published the book. And Christopher Tolkien has made it very clear that he doesn’t like Peter Jackson’s adaptations of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. It gets worse. Christopher Tolkien has also stated that Jackson will never get his hands on the rights to make a Silmarillion movie. He also won’t sell the rights to anyone who might sell them to Jackson. In an interview with Le Monde, Tolkien’s son spoke out about Jackson’s adaptations.

“They gutted the book, making an action movie for 15-25 year olds. And it seems that The Hobbit will be of the same ilk… The gap widened between the beauty, the seriousness of the work, and what it has become is beyond me. This level of marketing reduces to nothing the aesthetic and philosophical significance of this work.”
