That's where I differ. I love how it feels. That's why I never minded on the 48fps. But I do admit that I had some sort of eye strain and wanted to relax so i took them off to compare how the depth was.
It's what I would think is a way to go forward. But not necessarily THE way. Getting accustomed to it will be the real issue. |

QUOTE(PhilHellmuth @ Dec 10 2013, 04:21 PM) 1Utama.if you need to buy it, buy it soon. 9.45PM is filling up (thursday). But 6.30PM is.... FRIGGING EMPTY. In case you can't find it, you have to a bit lower in the movie selection, as it starts with 3D HFR Atmos, in that order. It's easier if you just choose By Cinema and go to 1 Utama. A lot more easier even. |

QUOTE(PhilHellmuth @ Dec 10 2013, 04:25 PM) thanks bro !!! Reviews are ok so far as an action movie. but it all depends on how fast and fluid it is. I have seen action sequences that are too fast, that makes everything look like a blur. So it's not worth the time for it to be in 3D. For example, action scenes in Captain America were so much of a blur, that it made it less engaging.im watching tonight at 845pm .. if the movie is good i''ll rewatch it in 3d and this time in 1u haha But oddly, it's hailed as a great action movie. Haha. |

QUOTE(tonYe @ Dec 11 2013, 04:35 PM) I'm not sure if the Atmos hall in 1u can cater 3D HFR but the surround sound is awesome. The press preview of the film was in 3D IMAX, it wasn't very impactful to me, I even thought the film was converted to 3D because of it. I guess we will know this Thursday though. |

Owh crap. Now I have pressure on me.
I think the 6.45PM slot is about to begin. Then again, the 2D version is underway now. So lets hope there's someone here who can help us with an earlier Atmos review. There is however, 1 thing that bothers me. It's a fantasy movie. what if certain sounds, are just meant to be downplayed? How would I know on that one? But I'll let you know if I end up looking behind me if there's coming from there. That's what I'm looking forward to. |

QUOTE(Claire Farron @ Dec 12 2013, 05:24 PM) Nope they didn't, that's another reason why I think we were just hearing regular surround sound instead of Atmos. Hey! Secret Life of Walter Mitty is going to be fun! (I hope During the 30 minutes before the movie started they were showing the opening of the movie, again and again, sometimes it's 3d, sometimes it's 2d, sometimes it's just a distorted version. Then they showed some movie trailer with Ben Stiller, but even that also got problem and they didn't finished showing the trailer But I did saw those overheads speakers on the roof just like in that Atmos video. But not sure if it was used or not during my screening. |

Lets get somethings out of the way.
The movie was slightly uneven. There were great parts (The river scene, the exchange between Bilbo and Smaug) and then there were very hammy cheesy ones. The weakest link however, proved to be Thorin himself. He's not the wise nor fearless leader that we all knew from the first movie. he's a little more conflicted this time around. And I hate to say this, but suddenly looking out of place. Ah the Atmos Experience. You know what's funny? I thought I was greeted with the Dolby Atmos demo, but NO. It had to be... THE THX DEMO. Which I thought was very awkward and funny. And then came the demo. For the first time, I can hear sounds above me. The audio demo was fantastic. A simple setting in the jungles, and the sounds of birds chirping (ABOVE ME. ABOVE ME), the winds brushing around, the whole experience is no doubt a lovely one. But when it came to the use of the movies, some scenes stand out more than the rest. The beginning rain scene, the river scene (again) the Mirkwood forest scene, those were the true standouts. But I think I love the dialogue scenes a whole lot more. Whispers are a little closer to lifelikeness, while echoes in the halls of Erebor were a soft delight. Don't worry about the money. If you have the chance, go Atmos. As for HFR 3D, still stunning, and the river scene wins entirely. ENTIRELY. Although, I have to say, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but did I just notice 2 frame rate dips in the movie? Because, i'm pretty sure I did. (The one wear Orcs was running along the river and another one closer to the end) |

QUOTE(Sgt_Pepeer @ Dec 13 2013, 11:47 AM) I was watching the Atmos version too last night, luckily they already fix the problem, Dolby Atmos is simply amazing, the surround effect fill up the theatre with extra punch, it actually make u less aware the existence of surround speaker around ( & above) you, bcoz it's so damn seamless. Definitely worth the extra money to experience it. You know what?the Atmos intro clips before the show really a good demo for showcase the accurate positioning of the system : BTW. why the spider & Smaug talk like Gollum ? The price for 2D Atmos at One Utama is RM 14. But the 2D (Only) at MidValley is RM 15. btw, which row bro? This post has been edited by Kyoyagami: Dec 13 2013, 11:55 AM |

The 3D version is common. it's another RM5 extra surcharge anywhere even. (maybe minus TGV with their 3D-X glasses.)
So I had to compare apple to apple with other halls as well. |
