No 1:1 pixel mapping.. you'll get scaled image even after you switch to 4:3, and Bravia's scaling ability is very bad. If you insist get an external scaler to do the work for you, but then you could get a quality 29" CRT with the price of said scaler. The choice is yours.

QUOTE(bllizard19 @ Aug 26 2008, 01:43 PM) just want to ask all the sifu here, i just upgrade my xbox from the component to HDMI to my aquos. Just that your TV takes longer to activate the panel, nothing to be afraid of. Unless you mean the console itself takes longer.. but I don't have that kind of problem using HDMIbut there are some delay for xbox to start when i choose the input? issit normal of something i need to worry? |

QUOTE(KRU @ Sep 7 2008, 04:23 PM) Anyone know the difference of Sony Bravias series? I dunno all look the same with those W,S,V series..considering one in the future though. One worse than the other, seriouslyEdit: even htkaki not selling any Sony, further proves my point This post has been edited by gundamalpha: Sep 7 2008, 04:54 PM |

QUOTE(Neo_Y @ Sep 8 2008, 09:25 PM) What you buy is quality with satisfaction. Besides, I believe every people got different perception toward the LCD TV. I'm afraid not, what you buy is actually packaging and marketing. Sony has completely cut off their TV R&D about 3 years ago. Panels are bought from Samsung or Benq, while Bravia engine is 100% outsourced for tuning. You are paying the extra for the Sony "stamp" and marketing. Not to say they are terrible, but I, as a consumer, wouldn't agree with their business strategy. |

Update, Toshiba's newer batch of LCD TVs isn't what they used to be. I can't really tell whether it's the panel or the Regza, but something just doesn't go right. It just happen to local models (or may be even some other SE Asian country as well, but not Singapore). Pay extra attention when buying one, make sure you are satisfied with its quality rather than the brand before paying.

From my minimal testing, I find the contrast not as good, and the textures on display isn't as smooth (or should I say too smooth I can't really see the pixels). That's just from watching Blu Ray & DVDs, can't confirm what's the difference from gaming. I didn't really care to test out any TVs lately until my friend (an A/V shop owner) invited me to test them out.

QUOTE(vampiric @ Sep 9 2008, 05:59 PM) Hi, I have a question, not sure if this is the right place to post. Could it be your GC has problem with HDMI output? Or resolution problem?Basically when I hook up my pc with VGA cable D-sub to my LG scarlet on full hd, it work fine. Problem start when i hook up HDMI, the picture quality drop drastically. Even if i do a pixel to pixel (just scan in LG), it's still look very bad. It seem like certain detail or color is missing and it's not sharp at all. I tried my notebook it has the same result. The HDMI cable is working fine i suppose, cause when i hook up with my monitor, it seem normal. Could it be a defect? |

Which model are you using? Might need some who have accessed to that model to be able to pin point the problem. I wouldn't mind going over to your place to see things out, but I'm from Sabah, minority here.
Otherwise take some pictures of it and I might be able to help as this kind of things are difficult to elaborate by words. |

That sucks, and I really feel sorry for you. I remember I had to send my first LCD TV purchase the first day I got it. Tough luck? No, I still think flat panels have a long way to go to claim reliability.
May htkaki can help you out before sending it for repair as he has access to various panels. |

Just a page ago quite a few agreed with me you are better off with panels other than Sony's, unless you are willing to pay a premium for anything but quality.

I wonder if any local retailer can get Sharp Aquos from Singapore.. The Japanese made Sharp Aquos is way better than non Japanese made ones, like all those found locally

QUOTE(Zeliard @ Sep 22 2008, 08:01 PM) Bought my PS3 during the launch, bought a HDMI cable as well. I noticed my LCD TV does not have a HDMI output, only DVI, PC and HDTV. I was looking for a HDMI-DVI adapter to connect my PS3, anyone knows where to get it in Perak, maybe a specific shop in Ipoh?? Please make sure your TV is HDCP compatible first, or else you'd be wasting your money |

QUOTE(advocado @ Sep 29 2008, 02:28 PM) Am considering between a 32" TV Samsung Series 5 & Samsung 24" Monitor T240. Price is about rm600 difference. How far are you planning to sit away from your display? That's the most important thing to think about before looking at specsWould like to know for Video Game & Computer Monitor use, which one is a better choice? I compared the specs of TV & Monitor, seems TV wins hands down on the numbers. Only thing is the 32" TV has bigger pixel than the 24" monitor. Just like to know is there any catch for this? Why monitor tend to have longer response time, less contrast ratio but are usually more expensive compared to TV of same class? |
