More than that actually, but my main gripe is they outsource everything and stamp a Sony logo and sell at ridiculous prices.

They outsource everything, like R&D and panels. If they are good I wouldn't mind paying for the extras they charged, but this isn't the case, well at least not for me.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion in regards which is best. Sony isn't for me, but others may think otherwise which is fine as long as they are happy with it smile.gif

Really? hmm.gif My bad then notworthy.gif

The last time I followed they close down their R&D department for TVs, may be things have changed now.

I tot R&D in bangi only doing dvd players?
I also had friends working there too....
Oh well, might not be the whole story lol..

That's what I thought, but I have to admit I haven't been following their news until they recently laid off even more R&D staffs in Japan. Not sure about the operations here in Malaysia.

Yeah, I'm a bit skeptical about it too but I really want to try it out for myself. That's the only thing that can display a Wii correctly

Because Wii's max resolution is is 480p, meaning 4:3 ratio, yet some of their games force you play in 16:9 ratio

it's the same thing when you play at widescreen crt or widescreen lcd. you will still have black border when the signal is 480p but want to display that looks like widescreen. normally widescreen tv have zoom function, means 4:3 video with black border that when zoomed in will cut out the black border part.

Yeah, that's the problem with LCD rescaling vs CRT native. I don't really enjoy scaled image sad.gif

I set my lcd TV and Wii at 4:3,and it displays Wii correctly.no stretching/scaled image.Only thing is I need to put-up with black-borders on the left & right of screen.

Unless your LCD TV has 480 horizontal lines, it's scaled sad.gif

xxboxx, what 'viewable' resolution do you think the Wii is putting out on a forced 16:9 game like RE4? Are we losing 120 horizontal lines of details if such games are played on a 4:3 TV?

It means scaling will be done to match TV's resolution. Same thing goes for 480i, 480p, 576i, 576p, 720p and 1080i, no matter what's the resolution it will be scaled to match the LCD TV's native which in your case is 768p.

It can accept 1080p, but it will display at 768p only as that's its native resolution.
