QUOTE([="@k£LwIN@"=] @ Feb 28 2008, 05:25 PM) hey guyz, can somebody help me with this... I juz got my mobile phone unlocked at the 3 shop this afternoon. So I was wondering is it possible to post it back home? or anyone actually had exprerience with this? and yeah.. I'm worried abt security of the delivery. I had a quick run-thru on the Australia Post website, the air-mail offers the most affordable method but it does not require addressee for the signature-on-delivery, if I'm not mistaken so, anyone.. ANYONE pls, shed some light on this or tell me some story about u or your fellow friends as to posting handphone back home Thank you v much! do NOT even think of sending anything of value through msian post.......it is NOT likely to reach.......

QUOTE(KVReninem @ Mar 20 2008, 01:10 PM) If you are coming in to study MBA, your wife can come as tourist visa. Your case about your wife working as accountant, i suggest you go thru skilled migration visa bcos accounting still in demand. Try to consult a legal agent in malaysia if you wish to proceed further on bringing in your wife and getting pr, this is studying in aus sir and i have limited of info on this that is incorrect info.......... all info required are here, just do your own research.....http://www.immi.gov.au/ it is NOT necessary to go through agents....

chris, i think jex is saying, he goes in as a student (legit), and the wife will be an accompanying person....yes, in this situation, his wife is allowed to work, i believe, although there will be some restrictions........
of more concern to me is, whether the wife's qualification is recognised or not.......most qualifications not from oz or nz are NOT recognised, so some kind of accreditation process is needed, and that takes time and money......
of course, many people will take jobs which do not need accreditation, which will be mostly menial jobs like cashiers, stackers, fast food crew etc........even though they are professionals in their own countries, to earn some money..........
i think the info is all quite clear, students, and dependants can apply to work max 20hr/week (must apply there, not automatically given), the exception being family of masters students by course work, where work is then unlimited......

QUOTE(SeeD @ Mar 20 2008, 11:04 PM) Hmm? What do you mean? Students who has a student visa have to apply (what ?) before working ?? yes........which part don't you understand? remember you are a student, supposed to be there to study not work........they are generous enough to allow full time students to work max 20hrs/week during semester time and unlimited during holidays, but you have to apply for that permit separately when you arrive.........

QUOTE(chris_c28 @ Apr 17 2008, 07:15 PM) Don't you think that's pretty discriminatory? Don't the majority of Malaysian students here have an excellent command of the English language? Taking IELTS seems like a waste of money and time. how is that discriminatory?........how do they know your english proficiency otherwise?...spm english is a joke........the rule applies to ALL foreign students........oz is one of the most fair and egalitarian country in the world........ in any case, if you apply for a PR, ielts is again compulsory......... you ain't seen discrimination yet till you see msia.......

QUOTE(zltan @ Jul 31 2008, 10:01 PM) 17th August is also Melbourne Uni's open day. The most generous faculty in terms of freebies is commerce and the most stingy is medicine. they don't even need to have 'open day' for undergraduate medicine......there are many more times eligible applicants than places..... we will see how the graduate entry application numbers are like in 2011.........many graduate programmes find that they are NOT attracting the best students......

i think maybank has a branch in sydney......but i don't think they do retail banking........
if you want to do intra bank transfer, try hsbc.......
otherwise, the cheapest way to transfer money is by bank draft.....

in emergency, use tt, but be prepared to pay, at both ends......
bank draft will take 1 week to reach by registered post, and then 3 working days to clear......
but really, you should manage your finances such that 'emergencies' do not happen.......if you wait till your last dollar before asking your parent for money, that is bad management.......

withdrawals via international plus/cirrus is limited to the atm's limit, so is useful for emergencies only, and there is a significant charge.......use it as a back up.....
you are advised to nevertheless keep a buffer of funds, and transfer large amounts (like your fees) via drafts.........
