i never take any other grade except grade 8 for violin. saved me a lot of money.

nope, my major is piano, but somehow violin give me more feel, and i can express myself more with violin. everytime i pick it up to play, i have a feeling that "this is the instrument representing my soul".
we're talking about the grading system of those examination boards like ABRSM, Trinity, Guild Hall etc. they grade the level, grade 1~8, depends on the skill required to play the songs, sigh reading (means read taugeh and play on the spot), scales (do re mi fa so la ti do), aural (singing/hearing etc).

after grade 8, it'll be diplomas already.

you also mah, 13 years old (if i remember correctly) can get diploma already hehehe.
not neccesary a grade per year, it's not surprising that there're a lot of 12 years old can get grade 8/diplomas. i've even come across a 10 years old kid playing diploma pieces, a local chinese kid, not some kind of angmo.
typo la it's sight reading lol!! anyway whenever i try to do sight reading and always end up *sigh*. lol~

ah... so you just started violin. may i ask, how much is ur violin class fee? becoz i'm also a beginner

I teaching beginner 30min only RM70. never increase pass 4yrs.  Hope melaka here fee can follow KL future.

hmm... i bought mine from an old music shop. i guess the shop tauke doesnt see much guests visiting his shop, so... he was so keen to sell any of his violin.

so i just bought the violin he recommended... around RM280 nia lei. but i must say the violin looks... not so new. but still i like it. hehe...

i use Crown GLM-200 as the mic, going through M-Audio FW410, just that simple. the cello and harpsichord are virtual instruments played with keyboard...

now i listen back again my hair stand cause really shaky playing and intonation.

nope i use PC, cause i sort of want to see how my recorded violin sounds like.

hmm ya...it's hard for me to satisfy with my playing...

yes, i recorded 3 times, all 1 take lol. i record until the chopped part messed up that's why i cut away the rest. it was a test recording but i thought maybe i just make it into full parts and post it up to ask for opinions.

i use cubase.

oh and forgot to mention, the mic is clipped on the chin rest and the mic is on top of the violin (some where around on top of the area between bridge and tailpiece) pointing the soundholes.

only 1 mic, but i recorded 3 times. the mic will not disturb my playing, it's because i really not so good la haha. the mic need to be near to capture more sound since it's a mini mic.

no, it's clipped on the chinrest, but it's the holder that's clipped on the chinrest on one end, and the other end is the mic hanging in the air.

Hi guys, can anyone of you recommend me a shop where i can change my violin strings and bridge and provides violin tuning? I learned violin last time for about 2 years before i stopped to further my studies, and now i wanted to play my violin again and its terribly out of tune, did try tuning it using the online violin tuner but i think i'm suck at it, coz no matter how i tune it, its just doesnt sound right..
