Yes, but electric bass and guitar have frets...so it's not hard at all.

I'm not good enough to play violin for quartet. I major in Piano, Electric Guitar, Classical Guitar and Keyboard. Violin is for fun...and I also play Erhu..which is much harder to play than violin.

Anyone tried erhu??

Yunnie, where are you located? I can recommend a good violin teacher to you if you are in Jln Klang Lama or Kuchai Lama areas.

Icy, no la...I major in classcial Piano, contemporary Keyboard and Vocal. Playing Violin for fun. Every few months my MPO friend will come to my hse and I will ask him to teach me the foundation...which has helped a great deal. His teacher in Juliard school is the same teacher as Sarah Chang's! Wow...

I love playing Erhu too....but it's many times harder than violin. Try it...and you'll know what I mean. Many can play erhu 'cincai' style with flat notes...but to play it well in pitch ...hehehe...that's the KILLER! LOL!

Bro, you can check out many music schools in yellow pages. They sell cellos for kids too. Cello players are in great demand cos there's too many violinists in malaysia. Look around and see if you dont believe. How many kids you know are learning cello?? HOW MANY ARE LEARNING VIOLIN??

Once your daughter grows up and IF she plays it well, she'll be so in demand..cos really....violinists outnumber Cellists like 10 to 1. Hard to find good cellists. I'm surprised you wanted your daughter to learn cello and not violin. Did someone advise you?

9 years old is considered a bit late to start...but better late than never. WHo knows...if she's very talented, she may catch up quickly. BUt you gotta push her to practise. If you as a father dont do that..dont expect any result. It's common sense.

I can recommend you a good cello teacher too. PM me.

You wont know cos you are not a cellist. Gotta bring a cellist who plays well to test for you. Then hear his comments.

You should see my MPO friend play. He too is very aggressive on the violin cos his teacher is the same as Sarah Chang's.
