i use cubase. oh and forgot to mention, the mic is clipped on the chin rest and the mic is on top of the violin (some where around on top of the area between bridge and tailpiece) pointing the soundholes.

QUOTE(Violin! @ Mar 21 2009, 01:52 AM) I see. There is two mics? only 1 mic, but i recorded 3 times. the mic will not disturb my playing, it's because i really not so good la haha. the mic need to be near to capture more sound since it's a mini mic.I think if the mic is too near to the violin, it will have difficulty to play. |

a plus sign on top of a note means you plug with your left hand.

yes, both song also got the left hand pizzicato, the cap no.24 is easier but the full version of la campanella is, well, crazy... La Campanella by legendary Leonid Kogan. |

QUOTE(youjian @ Mar 21 2009, 11:49 PM) ya i think it is brownish... yes, i know that part quite well, you press the E (on A string) note with little finger and play a short staccato with bow, then you prepare your middle finger on C and plug with your little finger.eh wait when u mean plug wif left hand , u mean pluck wif little finger? for example, if a play C (wif the +) on A string , so i press down C wif middle finger and plug wif little finger? |

i still have my donimant strings on my violin more than a year, seems to play in tune and the windings is still intact.
the windings can come off, can be many reasons. when the nut or the bridge don't have lubrication (pencil) or the groove not properly applied, the string will stucked there and begin to pull between the nut and bridge. but naturally, some brand can have this happed. evah pirazzi, despite a RM200+ strings, can have this happen out of no reason, and it's especially happen on A strings. |

QUOTE(TandooriC @ Apr 7 2009, 10:56 PM) Hey all, I've just started taking violin lessons 3 months back. I'm usually only free to practice at night but wouldn't want to disturb others. You can head to sri hartamas, look for this shop Carismen Dolce at sri hartamas shopping center. they sell the huge rubber mute and metal mute for practice purpose. not sure they still got stock, but you can phone them first.Anyone knows where I could buy a violin mute? Somewhere near Kepong or Subang area? or alternatively you can try Euro Music, same in the sri hartamas shopping center. hmm, i wouldn't recommend practice with mute, nor the electric violin. both won't give the best practice effectiveness. best if you could practice in day time, or earlier night in bed room, with windows and curtain closed. that's what i do. i don't practice in late night after 10pm. how much your bow cost? where's the broken part?
if yours is under RM100, better get a new one. even if you have money to repair the bow, it's not worth it. |

hmm it's better to buy a new one, i've had a bow broken at the tip there. even if you glue it on, it'll still come off sooner or later. if it's not a bow that cost a few thousands or even few hundreds, then get a new one. cheapest bow can go below rm100, but since you're into a new one, better get something in the rm200 range.

vitamin string quartet...insteresting.
sounds good to me, but in a too "serious" way for my taste, namely too classical in the playings. i enjoy more of "vanilla mood", not exactly string quartet (1 violin 1 flute 1 cello 1 keyboard, sometime flute replaced with 2nd violin), and over-commercial for my taste. but their arrangements and playings are lovely. |

QUOTE(annabelle89 @ Apr 21 2009, 12:16 AM) consider buying a hard copy (book)? head to music store and ask for the suzuki violin book volume 1, revised edition for international distribution. there's minuet 1~3, with CD included. not cheap, quoted RM42.90 at chamber music @ sungei wang.or...just search around. this song is too famous, can be found easily i'm supposed. |

QUOTE(Cheras16 @ May 15 2009, 09:17 AM) is Euro Music Distributor S/B at City Squre, Jln Tun Razak shifted? I've been calling 03-2164 2389 for few weeks - keeps on ringing but no reply. Wanted to send my violion for "check-up" & realign the bow strings as I'm keen to pick up violin again after long rest. Enquire music centres before where they recommend a new bow at RM90-RM120 instead of fixing. Acceptable? euro music moved to sri hartamas shopping center.if you mean you want some new hair for your bow, it's around RM100+-. if something is wrong with the bow, better buy a new one, better if you willing to spend some RM200 at least to buy a new bow. rm1000 bow is pretty standard among most local violinists. your 1st teacher is your tutor, your 2nd tutor is a good violin, and the 3rd tutor is a good bow. spend more on violin/bow will allow you to dicover more. |

QUOTE(Cheras16 @ May 15 2009, 01:12 PM) Thank you, Little Ice. I don't even remember to call it hair for the bow as I thought it's named string. Neglected my violin for too long period. that said, if your bow is worth more than that or you like it very much, then don't change, just rehair. and if you want a rehair job you can approach calvin, euro music @ sri hartamas or mr. wong, early music venture @ taman desa which is nearer.Actually there's no breakage to the bow & I'm only interested to change all the loosen hairs. I'm just afraid that upon changing to a new bow, it does not match to my violin - fr colour to wood texture. Mine is a Korea violin. Is it worth to just change the hairs for RM100+- instead of getting a new one for RM90-RM120? The music centres seem to favour the option of getting a new one. Added on May 15, 2009, 1:40 pm QUOTE(kimmie @ May 4 2009, 12:49 PM) yuhhooo:) anyone home? you can teach violin anytime if you're prepared your homework, means what to teach, when to teach, and how to teach. pass on your knowledges to the next generation.i have been giving a lil thought.....thinking of teaching violin part time but dont know where to start.. had teach piano awhile to some students during their school holidays.. please keep in mind that, the responsibility of teaching a beginner is much greater than anything else. QUOTE(kimmie @ May 15 2009, 02:20 PM) yes i know that it takes more paitence to learn violin compare to other instruments once u dont teach the beginner well and they dont progress right its very difficult to change their way of playing. i know it since i encounter it myself;p but question is where to start? what book to read? i had read suzuki method of playing...any other books u want to recommend? sorry for the late reply.i don't know of any book that can give much informations on teaching cause i never read them. all i do is to search youtube and visit forums, and learn quite a lot from there. currently imho suzuki method is the best and the fastest to learn, but like any other methods, there's no perfect one. suzuki method is like teaching a young kid to learn a language without read and write first, they learn to speak and listen. so it means there gonna be problem with sight reading in the future. so it must be accompanied with other books, let the kid stop and play other book ("making the great" is very good book, another one is "party time" but that's all i can remember about the book name). the rest, is your own creativity. it took me quite a long time to consider and prepare teaching, i ask my self questions like "am i responsible enough for my student?" "am i willing to learn how to teach?" "am i willing to deal with kids?". if you have doubts, ask your teacher about his/her opinions on how to teach, and remember to treat your teacher a nice meal for that. |

an update of the shop Euro Music, they've moved to the jalan imbi, just few buildings next to the CK music, upstairs. they've also closed down the sri hartamas branch, and city square is renovating for 2 years so they're also forced to move out. perhaps they want to focus on just 1 shop instead of 2 or more.
their new number is 03-21440188. i find most of their stuffs are nicely priced, in fact some of them are cheaper than what's priced else where. Added on May 28, 2009, 1:18 pm QUOTE(feyhime @ May 28 2009, 10:59 AM) Hi all! it's never too late to start to learn violin, it's a plus if you at least can read the music notations, namely taugehs. the big questions are:I would like to ask if it will difficult for an adult without proper music background/foundation to learn violin? I have musical lessons in primary but sad to say, due to family issue, I wasn't allowed to pick up any proper classes on musical instruments. And those lessons from schools, I think I've returned a large majority of it back to my teacher. Would appreciate feedbacks. Thank you. 1. do you have childrens to take care? 2. do you have time to practice? 3. do you have the motivation to practice? 4. what is your goal to learn violin? the 4th question above is most important, many people stopped halfway because they simply don't have a goal and eventually stop. you must have a goal, and that's the core of the motivation to practice. the rest are actually pretty much lame excuses - you can watch movie, drama, surf internet, but you don't have time to practice, it doesn't make sense, unless you don't even have time for entertainments.
