1.1.2 rocks .... i think we really don't have a stable and fully working 1.1.3 for now. Furthermore, the BB is still 4.02.13_G (via the current Soft-update methods) , ... maybe we should wait until there's a proper and complete fool-proof way to fully go 1.1.3 (with an unlocked 4.03.13_G BB).

Perhaps the people with IPSF-unlocked iPhones can do the "proper update" and still stay unlocked.

wow ... this 1.1.3 is really going nuts !

think i'll hang on for a while with 1.1.2 until there's a proper 1.1.3 with unlocked 4.3.13G BB.

Can't afford to mess up my unit coz it's my everyday phone tongue.gif

Mebbe try one of those nifty convenient installer apps ....
add "http://i.unlock.no" as a source into your AppTapp..... <this you gotta know how to do right? >

Yes DiGi users also will kena that "call forward" message..

OK, this is for 1.1.2 iPhone:
The elegant solution would be to NOT use iWorld, modify the AppSupport to properly support Malaysia numbering format, and then create a plist for whatever carrier you're on.

also create the symlinks of the MCC/MNC to that plist .

I think there's a page in hackint0sh that describes how to do it step by step.

Look under the keywords of phone.app crashing or SMS.app crashing in 1.1.2

Modifying the plist might be abit tedious at first . but the end result is very rewarding .. u can set your default EDGE settings inside, and also add HTTP links as if your iPhone was "sanctioned" by Apple to be on your carrier.

You can also all quick dial lists , esp for DiGi users to put the *128# via a button access on the phone settings page.

ETC ETC...

i have asked for help some post back, u must be on celcom too, doesnt seem to bother the maxis users. U need to edit your carrier.plist unfortunately it is in binary the file and u need a converter to extract it out. i have a converted one.

Modified carrier.plist

Use WinSCP and go to /System/Library/Carrier Bundles/Unknown.bundle/

Backup original carrier.plist and copy over the one you have downloaded.

Remember works well with my celcom line at the moment.

Ah, just tried your file -- I didn't have the directory Carrier Bundles so I had to make one -- I think it is carrier specific so its not working for my DiGi line. Anyone have a modified carrier.plist that disables the call forward menu for DiGi network?
*
are you on 112 or 113 ?

If you're on 112, PM me your email, i'll send u the "DiGi.plist" i created for 016 network (also removes the irritating call forwarded screen" ).

If you're on 113, sorry i no can help you .. mebbe some of the 113 gurus here can assist...

Hi all,

Just have some interesting facts to share re iPhone users in MY.

DiGi has detected about 2200 unique iPhone handsets in its network.

Given that most of the early adopters are on DiGi, we can roughly also estimate on Maxis and Celcom.
Maxis would be abit lower but could have a higher adoption rate since they patched their network.... so I'd estimate 500 to 1500 units on Maxis.

Celcom ... mebbe estimate 500 units due to user demographics.

If anyone with "inside" info from Maxis or Celcom can correct my estimates, then we'll know whats the iPhone population in MY !

Current estimate: 2200 (DiGi) + 1000(Maxis) + 500 (Celcom) = 3700
... so, maybe just under 4000 iPhone users, give or take a few hundred!

Not bad for a country with 99.9999% hacked iPhones !!

here's the hotline for you to complain / flame / taruh / etc etc ... 016-2211800. (it is Toll Free for DiGi callers).

if the rumours of Apple demanding 30% o the voice revenues from the Telco, then the iPhone is never destined to come to MY, and Telcos here with the price war are already running at close to or less than 30% margins already. This is due to MCMC controlled inter-connect rates between local telcos.

simple economics ...

their purchasing power is much stronger than us, and also higher expat population.

Another example: There are more Macbooks sold in SG than whole country of MY although KL/Klang Valley itself has a larger population than SG's entire island.

QUOTE(redzafahmy @ Jan 31 2008, 11:18 PM)
I'm just wondering why singapore that have much less population than us is considered a 'big' market compared to us? They will most defintely get iphone there. So to say that we're a small market is not that applicable in my opinion

actually i've successfully paired iPhone with other phones, PDAs, PC ... etc etc.. but its a totally useless exercise.

Thats because the only bluetooth profile thats supported by the iPhone is the "heatset 2.0" and "handsfree" profile.

This means:
no file transfer
no VCF card (OBEX push... )
no stereo headphones
no serial port communications
no ... just about everything else !

True true ... after using iPhone .. i find it so hard to use a WinMobile device. In fact, iPhone user interface (sent from heaven) is like a cure for the Windows Malaise (clumsy, slow and just plain dumb).

Also with iTunes 7.4.3 or later, there is a charging icon in iTunes desktop when iPhone is plugged in.

For the newbies... if an application hangs and the home-screen doesn't appear when u press the home button. Just hold the home button down longer (force-quit the application) until u get the home screen. If all else fails, hold down both the home and power button to "force-shutdown" the phone.

QUOTE(tarpaucase @ Feb 3 2008, 05:11 PM)
No LED indicators of any sort! so you have to check your phone manually!

When you plug in to charge you should see battery on screen.

Cancel applications - just press home button. Get rid of the windows mobile mentality.. its just like what the ol' Palm used to be. Things don't eat up resources like the notorious windows mobile when you leave them in the background.

Mate, where have you been? These xSIM methods are already obsolete! A thing of the past! The BL 4.6 has been soft-unlocked, meaning now the baseband for BL 4.6 phones are no longer protected from modifying and downgrading... Use the gUnlock method posted by the guys before this, then say goodbye to your HyperSIM rclxm9.gif  rclxm9.gif

a 3.9BL is still preferred to the 4.6BL for ease of various hacking means.

Follow GeoHot's explanation about the secpack validation especially on the "Greater than or equals" versus "Greater than only" in order for programs to access the NOR seczone.

Just wanna ask, since iphone can display chinese words but is there any chance it can type chinese words too? This is the most important feature for me as I often type chinese words...Or any 3rd party application allow to do this?
*
easy easy ... go to www.iphone.org.hk

there's also an Installer link there ... just put it in your Installer, and then install "NativeCN". It will turn the Japanese keyboard into a chinese keyboard. With choices for pinyin, simplified, traditional, cantonese pinyin ... etc etc.

BTW, if you don't see the list of keyboard choices in your iPhone, install that keyboard region thingy doohickey ( i forgot, mebbe from from the modmyifone installer repository, <someone pls add the link if they know/remember it?> ) and you'll have alot of intl keyboards to choose from incl the japanese one.

i also saw my friend's iphone's installer having a taiwan link in the installer too , which also has provisions for chinese capabilities.

Again, Google is your best friend.

one of them is the regular restore ... means iPhone not fully konked but awaiting some "rescue" from iTunes.

The other one with the blank screen is more low-level, where the iPhone doesn't boot beyond the bootloader (i think) . This one is also known as "DFU mode".

DFU = device firmware upgrade.
