star can easily differentiate by their star pattern. indian or sri langka normally more than 6, while the other is 6 or less. the shape of the stars i mean. haha... right uzairi?

golden thread turtle i saw someone selling in the net. wanna ask is that this turtle is the normal 'grass turtle' that we found in malaysia? wondering around bushes and grass land... my friend from seremban saw the picture just now and said he always saw this type of turtle wonder around his house.. ( a bit in kampung )

The common "grass turtle " is most likely Cuora amboinensis or Malayan / Asian Box

Whereas the Golden thread is from Taiwan and surround ( But they thrive like RES when released so if you find one in the wild dont be suprised )

Is the below link the one you saw selling in the net - http://www.adpost.com/my/pets/18401/

Ocadia sinensis (sinensis of course refers to organisms that came from china) is a non-native species, it could not be naturally found here. most probably your friend misID'ed the picture as a boxie.

(there are specimens of formerly captive turtles that escaped or were released by their owners here, but the number is quite small to be considered as 'normally' found in malaysia)

common box i think what they mean has got yellow strip on each side, but the golden thread turtle is something like red ear slider, but its not the same as its pattern of pigments and shell shape is different.
correct me if i am wrong...

On my LFS list they cost slightly more than a RES

RES wholesale for RM 7 - 8 a pc

Where as the Ocadia for RM 9 a pc

based on your (vague) description, my guess is you could have stumbled upon either:

i) Elongated tortoise
ii) Someone else's missing star or radiated (hands licin sikit) or some other valuable tortoise
iii) Something else that you totally misIDed

if it was either (i) or (ii), i'd say... your lost dude!
nothing came out of drain for me except boxies and res.

the tortoise in the particular picture (i believe the original picture belongs to jq_tan) could be worth 3 to 4 digits depending on size and gender.

base on your description, the one you saw could be something that worth even more in terms of value and rarity

anyway, as sam mentioned.. you already let go, so no ID can be confirmed.
