The new hyundai elantra is seriously a good deal, for 94k you can get a 2.0 mid size saloon with full spec goodies, simply one of the bargains we can find now. But from what i know, this could be an introductory price, and possibility it will priced to 100k a few months later. Still its cheap.
The only gripe for me with Hyundai is the local distributors, Kah Bintang which i seriously not fond with. Their notorious "cheapo" scheme by taking out some essentials to cut cost and their infamous additional accessories is still haunting the otherwise fabulous new Hyundai Accent 1.6 (the bodykit is a must go away, bring the 2nd airbag and rear disc brakes), but luckily they spared the Elantra. Hope this goes all the way, i dont want to see a RXS version of Elantra with huge GT wings. |

QUOTE(Omage007 @ Jan 22 2008, 06:53 PM) again, malaysian only look at used car valuetherefore they insist on the T and H badge most of them value the used car value over anything else, including driving dynamics(no, im not saying the elantra is nice to drive |

QUOTE(demio121 @ Jan 23 2008, 12:29 PM) Extractly, that the thing i hate about Kah Bintang. How i wish Hyundai malaysia or Inokom bought over Kah Bintang and fire all their chinaman executives and management. I think even Inokom is better than Kah Bintang. Now Kah Bintang is showing off fuel consumption to get buyers. Hmmm |

The Elantra isn't a mid-size saloon, it's a C-segment (compact size) car in the likes of the Altis and Civic.
Of course, in Malaysia, a Perodua Viva is called a Supermini (Myvi, Getz and Saga is supposed to belong in this category) so I guess for Malaysians you can call it mid-sized. I've seen this car on Australian roads last year, looks pretty good. The interior shot on the first post looks very good too. I think Hyundai has greatly improved recently. Of course, I probably prefer buying a 2nd hand one as it's much cheaper, but this is a new model so it leaves that option out. |

well..most people would worried about korean cars' FC. if it's good enough like those jap cars..i think it would be a hit here locally. just imagine it's 15-20K cheaper than the nearest competitors..T & H gotta sell cars cheaper then.

It will be a while before ppl can accept korean cars like how we receive japanese cars now. In europe today Korean cars like the Kia has impressed alot and doing even better than some European marques.QUOTE(solidsnake_84 @ Jan 23 2008, 05:42 PM) Is it true Kah Bintang taking out some essentials to cut cost on this New elantra? I not sure about the new Elantra, perhaps maybe reducing 4-6 airbags to 2. The one they cut off a num of accessories will be the current accent. Worse they add an unnecessary bodykit with fake dual exhaust. We not getting the full specs meh? |

Just test drove this car today.
My score: 8.5/10 Pros: 1) VERY VERY VERY quiet engine. Honestly, I didn't even know if the engine was turned on. No jerks, no sound, no vibrations. 2) Powerful, very smooth transmission too. 3) Interior. Beautiful interior for its price. Blue ambient lighting which you can actually set the brightness. Nice CD player with AUX for iPod too. 4) Auto climate airconds. Air conds that can adjust to the temperature and auto set the coolness. 5) Talking reverse sensor. A sensor that tells you how many feet are you aways from a wall when you reverse, it's a girl's voice anyway 6) Leather seats, leather gear knob and leather trimmings. 7) A lot of extra accessories like a lot of cup holders, sunglass holders etc. 8) The spare tyre is the same exact size (16") and it's the same sports rims! 9) Oh, did I say VERY VERY VERY QUIET AND STABLE ENGINE? Cons: 1) Beige-coloured seats, not my taste. 2) No passenger air bags 3) No auto-fold side mirrors It's only RM93,888. To me, it's a real bargain. Really considering it now. Oh by the way, waiting period is only 10 working days. |
