Wont be buying it since I am a cheapskate and peasant. Will get all the BDs and return the BDP1400 after a month of review. Sometimes, this fella tends to forget abt the player.
Dont believe? Ask ar188 as there were 2 loaned DVDP that could upscale via component left uncollected. LOL! |

Going to setup the rear surround this weekend. Didnt realise I have a pair of cheapo surr spkrs at my parents home. Temporary use this while saving $$$ to buy a pair decent surround speakers.

QUOTE(moviebuff @ Aug 2 2008, 09:35 AM) HTkaki, Thanks for the reply. After you have check on the setting, can you let me know about setting? Trully appreciated. Ok, do a snapshot of it. My HM accidentally tripped on my coffee table. My HD65 fell onto the carpeted floor. |

The ceiling aint sturdy enough to have a pj mounted. Thought of that too. Now, must banned HM from crossing the coffee table. Only couch area.
The pj side is dented. Post the pic later. At the mean time, will install clamps with sponge at the coffee table. If trip also the pj only knocks the side and wont fall. Yesterday, went to a HT member pad. Fuyoo, using velo SPL-1200 with full B&W 700 series speakers (7 channels). Powered by AVR-3806 and Rotel mutli-channel power amp and a 2 channel power amp. Very nice room. The center channel is a bit lacking in terms of vocal reproduction. Very impressed with surround dispersion and the low thumping Velo SPL. moviebuff, some BDs are not encoded with Dolby TrueHD. Which Sharp model that you are using? The BDHP-20A? |

Dont think so. Either PCM or bitstream for all codecs.

QUOTE(moviebuff @ Aug 4 2008, 07:46 PM) Htkaki, yeah, my bluray player is sharpBDHP-20A. Tested Andy Lau latest bluray concert on it. These disc carry dts-hdma track. The dts-hdma lit up on de display panel of RX-V1800. Tested Spiderman 3 bluray. Select dolby truhd 5.1 on the disc menu setup. The display panel on the RX-V1800 only display dolby digital. Don't know where went wrong. Saw your RX-V1800 panel displaying dolby truhd on one of the pic you posted here. Really need your help in these matter That's really strange. I assume that you had set the audio setting as bitstream in BDHP-20A since RX-V1800 lit up DTS HD MSTR but not Dolby TrueHD. Do you have any other BD with Dolby TrueHD encoded? Same result? anyway, here's the setting by YPAO : ![]() ![]() ![]() And here's my bruised HD65 ![]() ![]() |

QUOTE(moviebuff @ Aug 5 2008, 03:15 AM) Htkaki. there are two option for me to choose in the audio setup. You either go auto or pcm(surround). I go auto. Tested 300 bluray. Same thing. Dolby Digital only. The front panel on the player stated it support Dolby truhd. Can you check for me your Ext Surr in the sound menu of the RX-V1800, Is it auto or some other thing? By the way, I heard the sammy player that you are having can play region one std dvd. Don't know if there is any truth in it. I agree with aiman. Either one could be faulty.I will try to pop a Reg 1 DVD to test it tonight (if I have time) |

QUOTE(aiman04 @ Aug 10 2008, 08:21 AM) Really ar? 6.1/7.1 setup should do it. Didnt check mine. Will look out for it Strange, I never have this problem. Whenever I play DVDs with DTS/Dolby Digital, my AVR automatically set to DTS-ES Matrix/Dolby Digital EX, and I can hear sound from the surround back speakers. And when I use my PS3, the multi-channel PCM input always show PCM+Dolby EX on the AVR, and again the surround back channels are active. QUOTE can someone recommend a good value for money centre speaker? What is your current front speakers? Your budget? |

QUOTE(ycs @ Aug 10 2008, 05:28 PM) Since you have Rega spkr, Rega R Vox center will be perfect match. But, it will be way above your budget. For me, I would save enough to get the Rega center to have timbre matching. If not, try to get some Brit center spkr then. Monitor Audio BR LCR is one of the choices and it is slightly below RM1K. rated at 90dB, pwr handling at 120W and 6 ohm, it is not difficult to drive ![]() |
