I only plan to used celcom 3g occasionally when travelling. Phone set getting hot shall not be an issue to me.
Instead of forking out RM600-700 for a USB modem, I may decide to get N95. Can N95 8 MB user recommend a good dealer in KL for N95 orginal set? |

something to consider if you intend to buy the phone for 3G usage.
even though it supports HSDPA, but maximum speed you will get is less than 1Mbps even with USB cable. battery life is also another issue... |

QUOTE(niel @ Apr 5 2008, 09:54 PM) something to consider if you intend to buy the phone for 3G usage. Yes, I believe the problem lies with N95 USB transfer rate is very poor at only 0.8 MB/sec.even though it supports HSDPA, but maximum speed you will get is less than 1Mbps even with USB cable. battery life is also another issue... A review for Nokia N96 says its USB transfer rate is 7.5 MB.sec, almost ten-fold improvement. This post has been edited by Fearless: Apr 6 2008, 09:27 AM |

Hi all...,
add me to this big family... baddie - 29th March 2008 - RM1K trade-in with a precious N70 - CSL set... 2 days ago, I'd upgraded the firmware from v12.* to this V20.0.015 noticing that, -messaging function a bit slower -battery power drained too fast but, mostly, the benefits is greater... I don't know what application drained the battery most, as when I pressed the Menu buton, no application running (except back to standby shortcut)..hmmm..seems like so much external handlers running in backround... anybody experiencing the same? but, I LOVE MY N95.. superb with GPS, powered with Garmin Mobile XT... one thing, and one thing only... the BATTERY... anybody know how much the price of the BL-5F Desktop Charger ? care to find one, current battery stand-by time does not exceed 12 hours...yes,you read it right, Stand-by time < 12 hours! Oh, dear N95.. This post has been edited by baddie: Apr 7 2008, 08:17 AM |

QUOTE(baddie @ Apr 7 2008, 07:59 AM) Hi all..., There's already a newer firmware and it is V21.0.016 (I think should be this number). I just upgraded last Friday. Battery performance is like that if you use it vigorously. Also it is still new so it might require a few rounds of charge and discharge to get to the optimum level. Give it a few days. My N95 can lasts around 3 days if I just use its phone and stuff like that. Add playing games, WIFI and GPS, 12 hours seems to be the number. WIFI and GPS does uses a lot of battery power. Now I don't use its internal GPS, but paired with an external GPS receiver when I bought it for my PDA phone.add me to this big family... baddie - 29th March 2008 - RM1K trade-in with a precious N70 - CSL set... 2 days ago, I'd upgraded the firmware from v12.* to this V20.0.015 noticing that, -messaging function a bit slower -battery power drained too fast but, mostly, the benefits is greater... V21.0.016 already? going to look up for that.. thanks anyway, davidmak.. but, the things is, I didn't use the internal GPS (with Garmin)..and plus more I didn't use WLAN..just use it as a phone like normally do... I wonder how long can it take when I use those WLAN and GPS.. huhuhu...going to check with new firmware.. |
