QUOTE(davidmak @ Mar 31 2008, 08:25 AM) Actually we can have good maps without using our data services, navigational software and fast locking speed with our N95. Just buy a tiny Bluetooth GPS receiver module and pair it with the N95. Well, it'll decrease portability by a notch but the performance is really good. The internal GPS module only has about 6 channels and take ages to get a signal lock. Any external GPS module can get more than 20 channels and lock a signal in just seconds. Holux M-1000 for example is one good recommendation. That way, you don't drain your N95's battery. The Holux M-1000 can easily run for more than 17 hours, good for up to a week's use. How much does those external gps module costs? and exactly what brand is sold here in malaysia? For software you can try using Garmin Mobile XT and one of those Malsingmaps. Its the most accurate and detail map for Malaysia and Singapore. Just support Malsingmap.com, contribute and you'll get a map. Garmin Mobile XT can support S60, Palm and Windows Mobile. For this to work, you need a Garmin-GPS receiver but if you search hard enough, you can find a workaround. have you tried it before? |

I was trying to connect to a WLAN connection using my N95 today and I found out that the connecting process took longer than my previous firmware! Once I got connected to the network, I started typing the address and far below my expectation, the phone showed an error message stating that there's no gateway reply!
The WiFi access point signal strength is at full bar and is a free public WiFi access point where I used to connect without any problems at all with my older firmware. Anyone has faced the same problem? p/s: My current firmware version is the latest v21.0.016 whereas my previous firmware was v12.0.0xx (Can't recall) |

Had a field test today to bring me around Putrajaya. So far my combination of navigation software, map and the GPS receiver seems to be very effective. You can try Holux (which is what I am using). I bought mine (Holux M-1000) for RM250 including warranty from a friend I know in Malsingmap.com. have you tried it before? If you want more information, feel free to PM me and I can guide you from there. |

Go get it xeNOS No lag even after install many apps and game in it... performance is superb. Yes is does support SDHC... using a Sandisk 4GB one rite now. To add more umph, high quality camera, smooth video, GPS, BT, Wifi, built-in motion sensor and superb 3D engine. This is one of my favourite phone compare to my Dopod D810 & Sony P1i. In term of speed and sound quality, the N95 pawn them. Only con is no touch screen & average battery life. |
