Onkyo TX-SR605 OK what, most important is that it's future proof.

The PCM/Bitstream thing is only for BD / DVD. You do that in the BD/ DVD settings.

For CD, or any 2-channel source (including MP3s on the harddisk), you need to go to the Sound settings. Set HDMI audio output manually for all types except PCM 5.1 and PCM 7.1.

But if then you want to watch BD / DVD, you must set the HDMI audio back to automatic.

This is the part that sucks, changing back and forth.

Which player? PS3? No, please don't, firmware update is one way ticket only, if something bad happen, no turning back. I've read on many forums people are having problem updating from diffrent region. Furthermore, I don't think it will change the regional coding.

Which region is yours anyway? EU? If you bought it here, SG, HK, JPN or even US should be the same region A>.

Nothing to do with the JAMO lar, surround setups are the receiver's and/or player's job.

Only fault a speaker will do is not re-producing accurate details, quality sound, acoustics, etc (though the receiver/amp has the influence still).

if possible, get the Mod2 set lar...
I check with them liao, shipping using UPSP priority mail USD189 for Mod1 5.1, they'll reply later if using Fedex.
btw tax for speakers are 15% import duties + 10% sales tax....

so total will be (789+189)+15% = 1124.7 + 10% = USD1,237.17 = RM4,082.66....not cheap also....but they have the 30 days return policy even for international customer counted from received date....

if you set your PS3 to bitstream it will show DD on your amp, if you set PCM, cos' PS3 do the decoding liao and send out as PCM so your amp will show PCM signal lor...

but if i set bitstream, i will never get treuHD rite?
