tried 300 yesterday, DD, DDtrueHD and PCM , 3 types available
peasant ear i guess... sounded clearer than my previous set, but not much difference from the 3 types of audio
but hor... yesterday my wife heard audio CD, she says very pariah ler... like sound kenot come out one... im screwed with the jamo speakers?

the only improvent ment i get is better surround effect, becos my previous wireless set, the surround speakers are side by side

Wah, RX, you get your receiver already ar? Which one?

If you're listening to a 2-channel source using your PS3 (or even when you're not doing anything), you'll see on your receiver that it is receiving 7-channel audio. So, you'll only get front 2 speakers, even if you turn on DTS-Neo:6, Dolby Pro-Logic II/x, THX-Select or any other surround decoding your receiver provides.

To avoid this, set the sound setting as Optical, or if you don't have that but using HDMI, select manually all audio option except for PCM 5.1 and PCM 7,1. then you'll see on your receiver that it is receiving 2-channel audio only. So now you can turn on any surround decoding option and enjoy audio from all speakers.

For 5.1 channel source, it should be OK if you only have 5.1 speakers, don't have to do anything first. But if you have 7.1 speakers, the surround-back speakers will only be used if you turn off the PCM 7.1 and use the surround decoding.

The above not applicable for BD / DVD. For this, you need to set the output back to HDMI and set automatic so that you'll get all types, including PCM 7.1

For BD/DVD, go to Settings, make sure you set your PS3 to output BD / DVD audio as Linear PCM, let the PS3 do the decoding, because it can't bitstream high bitrate audio like DTS-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD.

If you set the output as Bitstream, your Dolby TrueHD audio will be downgraded to their core stream only (Dolby Digital).

This is also true for DTS-HD MA when the PS3 can finally decode it internally if we get it with the firmware update someday. But for now, either bitstream od Linear PCM, both will only give you core DTS only.

So, you won't see the DTS-HD MA or Dolby TrueHD lights up on your receiver. But that's OK, because either your PS3 or your receiver is doing the decoding, no difference at all. What's important is it is decoded and you get to listen to it. Of course there is something about "jittery" effects, but that's another story.

These are true with my YAMAHA RX-V1800 anyway, but I think all latest receiver should be the same, because the problem is with the PS3, not the receiver.

Sucks huh? But that's the only disadvantage I can see with our PS3. This is hardware, so nothing much we can do about it. For DTS-HD MA, that can be fixed using software, nothing a firmware update can't do.

Anyone know if I can convert region B player to Region A by updating the firmware from USA site? I bought my sharp blu-ray player from Aus.. Now I can't play some region A disks.
