Finally, after more than 25 hours delay because of weather, my package arrived KL.

Seems like they could make the 4 days promise after all. My respect to DHL for their excellent service. notworthy.gif

And they only took 3 minutes for clearance!

8 juicy titles to savor tonight!

Damn, Prazole, you are absolutely right! Day After Tomorrow is frickin' awesome indeed! Pristine transfer AND DTS HD Master Audio to boot! New York City in HD, baby, I'm blown away! shocking.gif

Next up, Dave Matthews Live at Radio City for that Live-in-the-concert feeling.

Kiathoong, Fifth Element Remastered is indeed beautiful, but i'd suggest Pan's Labyrinth on Blu-ray as a showcase/reference demo material for live-action category, or Cars or Ratatouille for animated flicks. Remember to calibrate your display as well, either get an ISF-certified personnel to do the calibration for you, or if you cant get that, scour AVSForum for particular settings. Trust me, calibrated displays makes your movies shine, colors pop , temperature correct and blacks deeper.

If you still want Fifth Element Remastered, i can loan ya, but need "deposit" first. tongue.gif

Next order, on payday, the 25th. Probably group together with Saw IV. Getting Lost Season 3 on Blu-ray, that one is also deemed as "reference material".

Off to Dave's concert!

DVDs are pretty good, provided you get an upscaling player that can do it justice.

Holy $hit, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds is THE Blu-ray to get for all you music loving audiophiles out there. PCM Stereo is already phenomenal, tune to Dolby Digital 5.1 640kbps and it is like a crisp studio recording, swittch it to Dolby TrueHD, and WATCH(yes, i do mean WATCH, not listen!) your soundscape transformed into a fullblown concert hall! If you have this title, or planning to get it, IMMEDIATELY skip to the part where Dave is singing on his kapok, while Tim strums his guitar solo on the song "Crush". I swear, i kid you not, you can implicitly and clearly hear the very twangs and swishes of Tim's deft fingers hitting those guitar solos so impressively, the audience in the concert hall, FREAKING cheers and thunders the LFE channel on the subs, you swear your room is shaking from the ovation! Your center channel speaker is filled with Dave's raspy, breathy voice, while the surround fronts switches madly during Tim's masterful solos. It doesnt let up , even until these two guys were basically facing off each other battling guitar riffs at each other, and when it came to the end, the standing ovation at the end, fills your entire speaker setup, you immediately can close your eyes and FEEL like you are there. You are freaking there, baby! And all this, is mother-effin' LIVE, right infront of you, and not prerecorded and mixed in some studio, makes it even more impressive. BUY THIS, and your speakers will thank you for it!

Disclaimer: Most probably will appeal to the crowd digging Dave's choice of music, balladic rock and slow tempo music, live with guitar plucks. Hiphoppers, rappers and the like need not apply.Guitar Hero lovers will, like what happened to me just now, immediately be entranced with what's happening onscreen and offscreen with your speakers. It is like your speakers are making love with your eardrums, and they are continuously orgasming each other.

I've heard about this. felt like getting one, and after reading your review there makes me want it more than ever. thumbup.gif

But I'm not familiar with Dave Matthews. Can you story a little bit about his songs? Maybe I've heard many times, but never knew that it was his songs, you know. Has his songs been in movies? hmm.gif

Anyway, I'll look for some mp3's to listen, if it's good, maybe I'll get his concert. tongue.gif

PS: kiathoong, nice sig there!! notworthy.gif tongue.gif

Fifth Element (Remastered), yes, excellent PQ &SQ. Don't get the old one, it was bad.

Apple: Blu-ray Won the Format War

Jim Goldman of CNBC recently sat down with Steve Jobs to discuss the new and upcoming products Apple announced during the MacWorld Expo held earlier this week. Jobs was asked about the format war and if he thought Apple had usurped both Blu-ray and HD DVD with their addition of HD movie rentals to iTunes. His response was, "Clearly, Blu-ray won, but in the new world order of instant online movie rentals, in HD, no one will care about what format is where." We, of course, disagree with the "Mac Daddy" about the second part.

What he failed to mention about Apple's iTunes HD movies is that they're only encoded in 720p, half the resolution of Blu-ray, which encodes all film content at 1080p (Full HD). The result is a picture which is only half as sharp, half as colorful, and half as beautiful as Blu-ray. Furthermore, only some of the iTunes HD movies have surround sound, and those that do only make use of the archaic Dolby Digital technology. Anyone who has listened to a PCM, Dolby TrueHD, or DTS-HD Master Audio track knows that there is simply nothing that can compare to a lossless/uncompressed audio track.

I hope someone sends him a copy of 'Ratatouille' on Blu-ray soon to show him what True HD really looks like and that not all HD is created equally.

Blu-ray Extends Sales Lead After Warner Announcement

Home Media Magazine is reporting that the Nielson VideoScan data shows Blu-ray captured 85% of the high definition media market the week following the Warner Brothers exclusivity announcement. At the top of the list was Lionsgate's '3:10 to Yuma', which sold four times as many units as the second place title, Sony's 'Resident Evil: Extinction'.

The Top 10 was dominated by Blu-ray titles this week, with not a single HD DVD title selling enough units to be considered a contender. The best selling HD DVD title sold only 1/10 as many copies as '3:10 to Yuma', showing not only the popularity of that title, but also of the format in general.

as a guitar player/collector/fan (electric and acoustic) I can identify with dave matthews BD but I think general public would prefer shakira more.. not to mention those who like Hips and body gyration.. also comes with free 6track CD.. biggrin.gif
