actually syrian can run quite fast too..
it is because of their bigger size they look like moving slower..
i've tested with syrian laugh.gif ..when i put him on the bed..he run here and there and then suddenly change to turbo mode..very fast and suddenly hit the wall..luckily nothing happened to my hammy..after that my hammy look like shocked or something..very funny biggrin.gif

winter gold is actually winter white pudding, just that some shops like to use fancy names for them.. so, yah it's ok to put them together..

my hamster gave birth to TEN pups.. never seen so many before, no wonder she was so fat.. the prob is, she makes a nest in the litter sand.. is it ok? the litter sand is clean la cos i just changed it, who noes she go n make nest there doh.gif

my ques is, can i move the toilet containing babies to a bigger cage? will it confuse the mother? my current cage too small for 11 hamsters(that is, if all survive la)..

I can hardly identify whether my Campbells Dwarf Hamster is in which type. There are only two probabilities; it would be either Black-eyed Argente (BAE) or Agouti (normal). I need sifus from this forum to help me identify. The picture of my hammy is just right below..

i think it's BEA.. http://www.geocities.com/aaahamsters/BEAs.html

1> 2 week old baby, can i touch them now? or will still parents eat them up later?

2> if i put all males into 1 tank or whatever enclosure, will it end up being a combat zone? they're siblings la.
*
1> it depends how familiar de mother hammy is with u.. when u put ur hand near the nest, does the mum try to bite u or nervous? for me, i even touched my 4 days old baby WW before, n de mum still accepts the baby.. make many precautions, like getting rid of food smell or any other distinctive smell from ur hand, and rub ur hand on the bedding before handling.. actually as long as got fur, can de la..

2> from experience, it's ok up to only 1 month.. when it reaches 2 months old, expect a battle for territory or watever..

ps/ all tis may not be facts but they're my experiences from all the hamsters i have.. n i suppose all WW r the same..

good luck to u, for me, if u never try, u never know.. icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi there bontotalan where r u from ? I can help u out by exchanging with u a tame rc baby about 2 mths old if u wan...Iwill take ur rc n tame it myself cos i tame all my rcs but it takes some time..I breed rc, ww,syrians n robos... so if u still wanna keep rc then u can call me cos i have a few tame rcs that wont bite..
*
his RCs are with me now smile.gif
they're so huge! RCs are bigger than WW it seems.. btw, here's an update.. the male is BEA n de female is argente.. i think u c their sex wrongly.. the male 1 is very tame.. i can take it out n play n when it nibble, i blow n it will stop.. the female, well, so garang.. bite 2 holes in my finger.. ahaha but tat's not a prob.. i notice she's very big sized.. wonder is she pregnant? tat's y garang? today tried holding her after wrapping my hand with cloth.. she's so adorable but when i sayang her head she bit me again sweat.gif ..
now i've to go research bout RC cos reli no experience..

taming an adult RC...quiet difficult...i only has experience in taming young rc..from they are still pups..must start play with them..to let them biasa with your hand smell..even with doing this..not all Rc will be tame..
if i am not mistaken. the genetic also play role..thats why when i breed rc, i breed the tame one so the potential to produce tame pups is more..
*
shocking.gif reli ar.. even if tame it everyday they stil bite? hmm i hope IF de female RC reli pregnant, will give birth to tame hamsters..

ps/ i think they more biasa with my hand's sweat smell.. cos i play with them too long till my hand sweat.. sweat.gif

Added on February 11, 2008, 2:36 pmok guys.. would like to know smth.. i read sumwher, i think in tis thread.. tat RC daddy can help take care of the pups when just given birth.. how true is tis? n also, they will mate again immediately after birth(which i dun wan to happen).. so should i separate de papa from mama or let him help take care of de babies? also, which combination of colors is a NO-NO? so far i only noe tat cannot breed 2 mottleds together..wat other combinations is dangerous?

thx in advance..

i'm not sure about this "RC daddy can help take care of the pups when just given birth"..
what i know, whenever my RCs give birth, i take the daddy out from the cage.. same goes to other type of hamsters..
i do this to avoid over breeding, and stress of the mom..

*
i've seen tis statement many times.. n now i c it in wikipedia.. tat's y i wan to noe whether is it reli necessary to keep de dad around.. any other RC breeder ere can verify tis?

daddy rc can take care youngs..i also heard that before..but never experienced bcoz like dien did, i saperated them.this is to avoid the daddy mate again with the mommy..than you may get another litter of pups, while the first litter were not big enough yet..

Added on February 12, 2008, 12:59 ambreeding two mottled hamster are very dangerous, the risk is production of cacat pups, such as no eyes,no teeth..then this kind of pups will die
*
hmmm ya tis i read bout it too.. luckily none of them r mottled.. ok la i separate them.. let de mum-to-be recharge first..

btw, how come i c in websites, de argente campbell have bright red eyes but mine has maroon color eyes.. in fact, very hard to distinguish whether it has black eyes or red eyes..
