Hi guys,

Got one simple (experience based) question that would like to ask you all about the P1i. I am in a dilemma over K850i and P1i.

I prefer a good cam that can match up with my very old Nikon 3.2MP standalone camera and I don't need a KILLER 5/8/10MP camera feature.

I saw the reviews on almost all sites on P1i and they said it was a good smartphone with good camera features. Just wanna know if the pictures taken are well enough to be printed on a 4R size photo?

Thanks squall for your info. Another few more questions before I hit the store for a K850 or P1i.

1. What is the internet performance on the P1? 802.11b is the only compatible mode with the P1.

2. How is the overall speed of the device? I am planning to insert a 2GB M2 and make it into a Mp3 player.

3. How customizable is the UI?

4. On your info of the camera it seems that it is inferior of those in K800/810. I do take photos,of people, not a avid photographer. Just wanna capture that memory when that moment comes. Do you think the P1 can fulfill this need?

A K850 will have a killer 5MP cam that is an overkill for printing 4R pics and it lacks a whole lot of features that the P1 has.
Wifi,UI customization,google maps,office apps,document readers,slightly larger screen.

Thanks for the info. My CDA is 162024/95 R5A. Will try to upgrade to latest FW later. Just a question, once I upgrade to the latest FW, is it possible to downgrade it later?
*
Not possible using SEUS. Its possible by a charged service such as Kulankendi or Da Vinci Team. For KK its 8 Euros = Rm40 for flashing.

EDIT: Just saw what squall wrote about this Mylar X3 and Martin Fields 3.5mm jack. From the name I think its quite expensive!

Wah RM160. Audiophile earphones to the max haha.

What comments do you guys have on the touch screen display? Because my friend who works in a phone shop strongly advised me not to buy phones with touch screen, flip and slide function.

They said that you press more = shorter lifespan. Cucuk cucuk until can't respond anymore.

Hmm your right. (Runs to store to get P1i, oh no wait. Wait till next month for price drop tongue.gif)

I think Mylar have to wait. Must get the martin fields screen + case + mem card first. I guess have to stick to the bundled earphones. Ugh.

Do you use any casing on your P1i?

Haha... that is either your friend is those "hardcore" type of people or his customer is one of them. Or else, he won't be saying that to you.

Is depends on individual actually. If you give a touchscreen phone to a contractor and a soft girl to use, who and which of the phone will last longer in your opinion? If someone use the phone very hardcore, don't really care to take care of it... for sure the lifespan will be shorter. Like you said, touchscreen, not poke screen. If that people poke the screen instead of touching... for sure la rosak fast

Well, as for flip, slide phone... same as well. If gentle people use, for sure there wont be any problem on it unlike those people slide so hard or when flip hard to close/open. Is all on individuals... see which type of person are you..?  flex.gif

RM1k++ phone can be "hardcore"-ly used? No no no. I think he is really hardcore cause he is still using a 3310 and his W200 is encased with a super tough clear plastic casing. shocking.gif

Yep, that's the one i'm using. Mine is the black one and i bought it for RM30 at lowyat last month if i'm not mistaken. But 1 thing, there is no camera hold behindz so u cant take camera when the phone is inside there. You got to take it out. Its ok for me because i seldom take pictures and for that, no camera hold behind can eventually protect my camera lens as well  biggrin.gif
*
Eh!!! RM30 only. I prefer the white one. Too bad I can't go lowyat for the moment (I live in Ipoh) cry.gif
Good price for the item. rclxms.gif

By the way the whole thing is quite bulky. Where do you guys keep the case+phone?

Hey guys has the green tint problem been solved or? Firmware or hardware related?

I am gonna buy my P1 soon and I am afraid I am going to get the green tint. It is apparent after a few months of usage or a defective phone will show green tint although its new?

getting a green tint unit doesn't means u get a malfunction unit.
the green tint will be there even though it is brand new fresh from factory. so you can check before you buy. but seeing how rarely ppl got tint free phone, its gonna be a hard time looking for tint free p1i

No complain on the phone but the camera is a big dissapointment. The picture quality is either soft or blur.
My previous Nokia N70 (2MP) takes better picture. Very sure is not camera defect because I have compared it with my friend's P1i already.

*
Firmware updates are just improving overall UI speed and photo taking processing time of the P1i. Blur and soft? Why don't you post your pics up here so we can have a look? hmm.gif

Normally pictures are blur because the photographer hands are shaky. There are techniques to hold the phone properly though (the P1i doesn't have a image stabilizer). Not sure if this is the case biggrin.gif

Yes its on the latest firmware. The moment I sync it, this problem happen. It actually happen on the original FW when I bought and even after I updated the FW. With the updated FW, some how the original PC suite doesn't work any more. I downloaded the latest PC suite from SEUS to get it sync.

Apparently if I skip the contact Sync with my outlook its less of a problem. Anyhow it went back to the service center. I expect them to fix it good!
Here is something I digged out of the net. He has also similar problems with Outlook sync. Hope it helps,I'm not personally a avid user of outlook tongue.gif

CODE
IT WORKS !!

after controlling everything,

it turns out the option "Use file ..." does not work. When I log in as a different user and let the sync program use the standard outlook file it works, at least for agenda and contacts.

probably the sync program uses the file you tell it to use, but at some point in the software it calls for the environment, which will return another file in case you don't use the standard one. BUG !! But this workaround works for me...firmware was Dutch, up to date ...

In the case of quality in P1i, its actually a very decent 3M camera. You can always edit with Photoshop to make it better

Yep, my wifi connection got no problem as well, smoothly run... just that when i'm on it... my battery drains fast  rclxub.gif

I think fx_53_xt should include some tips on battery care on the first page. It will really help us save $$ on buying new batteries.
Here is some general tips on battery care for Li-ion.

1. Alot of people say drain the battery to zero then recharge is bad for Li-ion. Its okay for Ni-cad but not Li-ion. Keep your battery level to around 50% and possible don't let it fall below that.

2. As above, recharge your battery when it reaches around 50%, not when its 90%+

3. Sometimes you would need to do a marking process on the battery to let it display properly battery capacity. Drain your battery completely once in 2months or so. Ever wondered why your battery capacity jumps around? Thats why.
( I myself tested this last time, the results shows after only extended usage)

4. It is better not to overcharge your phone to get that extra usage period. Always a good practice to disconnect the power cable after your battery is fully charged.

4. Some people MIGHT not know this. When using your phone for the first time, FULLY CHARGE YOUR BATTERY laugh.gif

Any errors please rectify notworthy.gif

Recently Garmin released a mapsource for UIQ platform, still under beta called GarminXT. Its native so its just install and bluetooth to your Garmin Mobile10x should do it.
The advantage of having a garmin based GPS receiver is that you can get free maps (most accurate and current IMHO as it is updated by local people) from MalSing maps. Forgot the site though you might wanna Google it up.

The Garmin Mobile10x retails around 650, lelong.com sells at RM559.

just wanna ask ....if it possible to use the phone as GPS?....i travel a lot so a GPS would help me greatly ...

currently trying to setup my 3G setting and stuff cos i have to demo the new Maxis service call MRS system ...its a system to remotely view your CCTV system from anywhere in malaysia with Maxis 3G ....very interesting service....

what other interesting software is there to enhance the phone ??.....

I thought I just said something back at the previous post. biggrin.gif Nevermind. You can use this phone as a GPS if you buy a receiver from Garmin (Mobile10x around RM600+). Read my previous post. GarminXT would be the platform for UIQ from Garmin.

Read the first post from our president on changing your CDA. Some regions (CDA) doesn't have the latest firmware released by SE.

got a bluetooth gps receiver d..

Er, first you gotta know what brand of reciever you brought, Holux, Garmin etc. If its Garmin then its easy you just download GarminXT from the site and you will be running in no time.

If its Holux or other brands and you still want the latest maps, goto MalSing Maps and follow the guide for "Non-Garmin Recievers"

can the battery spoils hmm.gif ?

But you touch the charger and see its really hot huh? Yeah the current stops flowing to the phone but the charger still retains conductivity. Personally I'd rather off the charger you know, extend the shelf life of things.. icon_rolleyes.gif
