Great news for UIQ3 users and for us P1i owners.

Restricted system files on drive C: and Z: are now accessible!!! This opens a window for great possibilities

1. Change Media Player skins and icons (possibly from Walkman 3.0 W960i? And its visualizations? Yeah man!)
2. Change sound and camera drivers!

Here is a thread on the event.
http://forums.se-nse.net/index.php?showtopic=26647

And a thread on how to do it. (Anyone who has knowledge on modding acoustic drivers / cam drivers can have a look.
http://forums.se-nse.net/index.php?showtop...44&#entry291844

And the Russian dudes are making their progress on getting that Walkman 3.0 from W960i

I wonder who will be faster in getting it right, the russian dudes or XS++ blokes hmm.gif

Go lelong, search for a P1 pouch. Then goto one that says "RARE! 5 colours pouch". RM 20++ you might like it.

QUOTE(Shufflerz @ Apr 15 2008, 07:19 PM)
Actually light isn't an issue.
I've tried to adjust to higher ISO, and it came out a very good result.
Same as when you're under a full light mode.
Lower the ISO so that you can get a better quality pics.
*
In photography, ISO setting refers to the film speed now in digital camera case it means how sensitive the sensor is towards incoming lights. A lower ISO means the sensor requires more exposure time to light to take the same scene compared to a higher ISO sensor.

1. Increasing the ISO lets the sensor collect more light, but the picture will have more noise.
2. Decreasing the ISO in turn lets the sensor collect less light.

So in under high sufficient lighting, lower ISO can be used. Higher ISO can be used when lighting is low but it will be prone to image noise. To further down this ISO setting actually does more things than control light sensitivity. If more light is able to be captured in a short amount of time, then freezing a fast action in a photo can be done. This is because the shutter can be closed more quickly with a higher ISO setting, hence freezing the action.

Some reference - ISO 100 ( daylight )
- ISO 50 ( Used under very good lighting, low sensitivity towards light, low noise)
- ISO 400 ( More sensitive towards light but generate more noise)

Thanks for ur reply...
I can't see any "RARE! 5 colours pouch" for RM20. But, I saw this "NEW Sony Ericsson P1i Leather Pouch (PDA Case)" for RM55++. Seems like interesting. Quite "custom made" for P1.  sweat.gif

JEN WAI! They increased the price for my mentioned pouch! Dont buy it. It used to be RM28.90, sells at Low Yat for RM30 only!

But say till all also... our p1i cant set and adjust any ISO settings isn't it? Is just on digital camera.

So, how can we take good pictures with our p1i phone... other than the macro mode
*
Your right about that. If P1i can't set ISO it can't be used. The K-series has this feature, up to ISO 400 (on K850). If I'm not mistaken, P1i has a auto white balance feature? If so, that can also cause flat/dull pictures on sunny days.

White balance works by having a white object (such as a cloud) be a reference for the software to color "white" to the taken photo. If you prepare to snap a photo which has a color similar to white, its best to include a object that can be used as a reference. If you enable auto white balance.

White balance has nothing to do with lighting.

Does P1i has exposure value settings? If so, increase exposure value to allow more light.

Try this for white balancing explanation, sorry for the confusion

White Balance

Looking at steel2k's explaination it seems that P1i has a long lag time. (Period from initiating focus and actually taking the picture.) I would recommend using a self timer ( if available in the P1i ). This would solve both the hard-to-press camera button and the long lag time. smile.gif

Ok guys time for some really debatable discussion.

Is this the correct time to buy a P1i? tongue.gif

Can be said as this phone G900 is coming out soon (May/July) with a "mid-range" price.
As assuming our malaysian market style for new phones (taking example W960i) price, we can approximately estimate the price at RM1.7 more or less for the G900.

Besides that, is there anyway to clean the screen safely? I mean after u talk over the phone.
It'll have some dirt and I just simply rub it. Then it'll be a bit oily.  sweat.gif
How should I clean it.
*
Oh okay good luck finding your pouch. And about cleaning that oil, you'll need something that is not abrasive. Perhaps some good alcohol (not entirely alcohol) but the ones that they use to clean CDs? If that doesn't work try those Johnson and Johnson baby deodorants, the content behind should state something like xxx-alcohol or a name of an alcohol.

CODE
Word of Caution: Be sure that the LCD screen is dry before closing it or using the computer. Do not use any solutions that contain Acetone, ethyl alcohol, toluene, ethyl acid, ammonia, or methyl chloride. Never touch the LCD screen with your fingers as this can cause the pixels to burn out.

Still i dun regret in buying the P1i,its a *very* great  tongue.gif phone n with reasonable price n i cant drop my lovely QWERTY keypad (If i have the budget i will go for X1 Wee!!superb phone) tongue.gif

Plz correct me if im wrong notworthy.gif
*
Yes you are right about the specs and the price drop that P1 will experience when G900 is released. I think that even if the price will drop, the price for a new SE phone will allow you to buy "2 P1is" . Your right about this part.
If the phone were to launch by May/July the price drop in P1 will be inevitable. Which is great news. If lets say someone would to buy a P1i now, should he wait for the phone to be launched and expect the price drop?

My personal answer is "Yeah why not if you can wait" icon_rolleyes.gif

After much deliberation I finally got one for myself. Will the president kindly add me to the users list.

After using it I noticed two very good things.

1. The Wi-Fi range is really superb. Can receive signal although one floor up and separated by concrete.
2. The phone can really multitask!

But it seems my phone has been tampered with. Although with latest R9K009 firmware. But I have two CDAs on both my organizer and Region. One is Austria(Oh my all the way from there?) and another is Indonesia(What the hell? But my phone can display chinese!).

Plus I have lunar calender and chinese-english dictionary. hmm.gif

I have a question, anyone experiencing this problem?

-> Wifi shows its connected but when page loads it says "Server cannot be found",pretty sure that site is up, its Google. All settings put to normal and the wifi Access Point is infrastructure Channel 1 icon_question.gif

guys, what is the most updated english FW n CDA for the entire phone apps?
*
You don't have a CDA and updated firmware for the phone applications. The firmware controls the phones hardware and in turn may increase performance and fixes some issues in the phone functions.

The latest firmware is R9K009. If you want the latest firmware everytime SE releases, you might wanna consider flashing to World Generic 1 or 2. But you will lose everything inside the phone. And will not have Chinese font support unless you install the language pack.

Mine comes preloaded with ... Austria + Indonesia CDA , so someone obviously flashed my phone before. Weird thing is I can even display Japanese.

Guys need help on the screen protector.

A few choices here that makes me go crazy.

1. Obviously the venerable Martin Fields at RM 47.9
2. Eagle Screen by kit_kit RM 5
3. LCD + Camera Screen Protector by Renee
4. Screenmask at RM 9

Anyone using brands OTHER than Martin Fields? Because that protector is just too nice and expensive, almost can buy 2GB M2 with that money. Please comment, because I am afraid of color reproducibility and brightness under sunlight will be affected when I buy cheap ones.

Thanks

Here guys I did a very rough design for the t shirt. Still in progress so this is just to show the concept of my design.

1. Black and white only for the abstract lines and dots? Or you guys want colour?
2. My design is based on a white shirt, the black version I will update soon.
3. Roughly based on W960i wallpaper

Few things to keep in mind.

1. In order to print a quality picture of the P1i, we need high res stock photo of the phone.

Please tell me if you guys want any changes and I'll try to fulfill them.

Posting from my P1. Here are some things i got from you guys.

1. Focus more on the club. I'll add a few lines on that
2. The p1 pic will consume alot of colour, high cost. Will make one design without it
3. Cartoon is a good idea not sure i can do it well. Not much of a vector artist.
4. Thanks for all comments.

Will update as soon o have the designs
Others please submit designs!

ALL HAIL WALKMAN 3.0 ON ULTIMATE SMARTPHONE P1i

I did it! My dream Walkman! I FINALLY DID IT. rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif

Steps to do it. (PC Suite and all drivers installed)

1. Download Mr. T's HackPack HackPack By Mr. T From SE-NSE (password www.se-nse.net), APPTRK.sis (install on PHONE MEMORY,Google it up) and swmail's Walkmanpack (attached)

2. Install python2.5.msi (restart when needed), win32py and finally pyserial.

3. Use this python script (attached in the WalkmanPack, 1.py). Put this in C:\

4. Fire up PC Suite, connect your phone. Select Phone Mode.

5. Go to Start>Control Panel>System>Device Manager and open Ports and COMS. Find Sony Ericsson Application Port (COMX)

6. On the python script , open with Wordpad, find this

CODE
# This is the port minus 1. If you have COM4, then use Serial(3)
ser = serial.Serial(3) # I have COM4

If you have COM6, put serial(5), minus all COM numbers by 1.

7. Open up AppTRK on your phone, then connect.

8. Ok now goto Start>CMD

CODE
Type "CD.." no quotes to get to the directory C:\ , after than type 1.py

9. Wait to finish, if something like !!!!!!!CANDIDATE!!!!!!! shows you have done it!!! (You can now access protected folders on C:\ and Z:\)

10. Use something like SWISS MANAGER OR X-PLORER to browse files. If your using Swiss remember to tick the view rom drives setting.

11. Copy stuffs from the Walkmanpack to the corresponding directory on C:\ (phone). The "private" folder can be overwritten but I suggest you move the content manually for the other folders.

12. Restart your phone! cool.gif
