does anyone know what type of gallery / download manager this website is using

http://daydreamgraphics.com/?page_id=16&mo...e=series&page=1
*
It is the premium theme functions.

You can achieve the same thing with these.

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-post-thumbnail/

If the theme you're using now support feature image or thumbnail like Mystique, you don't need this plugin.

and

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simple-download-monitor/
Or
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/download-manager/

and then,

edit your index.php or add a new file home.php then copy the whole code in your index.php before editing the home.php

To get the drop down category, just add another dynamic sidebar area and then add Categories widget or Custom Menus.

I'm not using that theme.

But you can try these ways.

Way 1: No Hard Coding, static homepage.

1. Create a page with title Home Page or whatever.
2. Change the Page Attributes at the Page Template into 1 column page (no sidebars).
3. Go to Settings -> Reading -> Front page displays -> A static page (select below) -> Front page: (Select the Home Page you created before hand)

This way, your homepage will be static and even if you create new post it will not be displayed in front page.

Way 2: Hard coding, dynamic homepage.
1. Appearance -> Editor -> index.php
2. Delete this line below.
3. Click update.

CODE
<?php get_sidebar(); ?>

Enjoy. thumbup.gif

1) To install a custom theme is easy. Go to Appearance, then Click the tab, install new theme. then choose from the various theme over the Wordpress theme database. If you download the theme on your hard drive, then click upload and then install the theme and don't forget to activate it.

Important: Only self hosted wordpress(Wordpress.org) are able to install custom theme.
You need a domain name and a webhosting for this.

2) You can put nuffnang ads by first registering your blog at Nuffnangss, grab the ads code then go to Appearance -> Widget -> Text.
Fill the title as what you want or leave it blank then in the body of the form, fill in the nuffnangs ads code and then click save.
The ads will appear on your sidebar, so make sure to choose the right size.

Enjoy. thumbup.gif

I don't understand what you try to achieve.

But let me tell you this.

WP-ecommerce, I've tried and working with it.

So my conclusion is, Wordpress is not suitable for e-commerce.

For ecommerce website, use an ecommerce script.

For example, you might want to try OpenCart or Magento.

OpenCart is as friendly user as WordPress. smile.gif

While Magento is... just like Joomla... Complicated but can achieve more features...

You need to edit the php.

I'm quite lazy to dig back my wp-ecommerce grave yard... sweat.gif

You try to make catalog website why don't just use Gallery type theme?

You don't need this plugin.

We only need this plugin because we want the ability for members to put into cart and checkout to paypal.

If you don't need this, find a gallery theme.

But if you still want this, have a nice hard coding.

You can try this, but I don't guarantee it works because I don't try it.
I just look at the code and assume.

edit wpsc-includes/wpsp_query.php

Find this;

CODE
function wpsc_the_product_price($no_decimals = false) {
global $wpsc_query;
$price = calculate_product_price($wpsc_query->product['id'], $wpsc_query->first_variations);
if(($wpsc_query->product['special_price'] > 0) && (($wpsc_query->product['price'] - $wpsc_query->product['special_price'] ) >= 0) && ($variations_output[1] === null)) {
 $output = nzshpcrt_currency_display($price, $wpsc_query->product['notax'],true, $wpsc_query->product['id']);
} else {
 $output = nzshpcrt_currency_display($price, $wpsc_query->product['notax'], true);
}
if($no_decimals == true) {
 $output = array_shift(explode(".", $output));
}
// echo 'NO DECIMALS VALUE:'.$no_decimals;
//echo "<pre>".print_r($wpsc_query->product,true)."</pre>";
return $output;
}

Change to;

CODE
function wpsc_the_product_price($no_decimals = false) {
//Yeap nothing.
}

under your own risk. wink.gif

Guys and gals. I have a website that is already up and running. I would like to add blog (it's a travel blog) in the same design. I have the .psd of course, but I also have the clean xhtml.

What would be a normal price to pay to have my current xhtml built into a WP theme?

Depends on your design.

From $30 to $100.

I can do basic coding for that range of price.

If you need more advance feature such as admin page, etc.
The price is increase of course. biggrin.gif

(All price in USD)

Thanks.

LOL?

How much would your professional charge would be?

I'm just an amateur so I don't know much about pricing.

But so far that's market price I know even at international level.

More than that, people will go to Indian programmers from India or Bangladesh which will charge maybe even less than what I was stating.

Beside, he said he already have the html files.

My job is just to convert it into wordpress theme.

For me it's not a tasky job...

So price range between $30 to $100 is just worth the time unless he wants more functionality then it will goes more than $100 depends on how many added functions he wants.

(Incase destfull didn't read... All currency is in USD)

let say you said that price, if you only have 10-15 of that job per month, can you survive? smile.gif

Don't said about India, Bangladesh or Pakistan.. thats because their cost it not same as us. And people at US, UK, SA etc doesn't even charge that but can survive.

I myself have a Pakistan dude working on my startup, KreativeThemes. We pay what he should get, not what the market price at their place

I see... I never think that.

10 job of $30 would be around RM900...

and each job which cost $30 will only cost me an hour work the most...

10 hour of work for RM900 is not bad eh for freelancer...

But I might change my perspective thou... since I am not so business minded yet.

So, my friend... It seems you are running your own company?

How much you're charging from html to wp theme like this?

Just guide me, newbie... thumbup.gif

For those looking for a good plugin for your wordpress, try "all in one seo pack".

Really useful. Just to share my thoughts.
