Current Event : 1st LAN Party

Venue :
Being decided, selected venue turned out to be unavailable. Originally Sri Relau complex, 4th floor, directly opposite PISA, near the place where the road splits to Relau.

Date & time : Being decided.

What to bring :
-PCs (none supplied or for rent tongue.gif )
-Snacks and food (stuff that can be cleaned up easily)
-Network cables (I'll bring extra, but better if you can bring your own)
-Extension cords and multiplugs
-Anything else you feel like bringing

How much
-Its just to compensate for electricity cost, should be around RM1-2 per person (assuming 300W/PC (A64 or C2D, single GFX) at commercial rates) for 10 hours)
-extra watt are to compensate for air-con electricity cost
-current electricity cost
-we may need to buy an extra router/switch if can't borrow enough, which probably comes up to RM10-20 per person.

Events
-mostly free gaming, though you can ask in advance for a time slot to do do a special session (OC session or whatever)
-you guys decide what you want to play, and all of us please install ready all the games
-probably spend the first hour setting up the network

What's available (for us to use, that is)

-tables, chairs, whiteboard, air-con
-maybe a water dispenser, but not confirmed
-no routers by default, but I'll bring my own 4 port netgear and the CNet 8 port which was in my garage sales
-I have permission to log onto the wireless network next door, but unfortunately I can't get permission for you guys, so if you need to go online you have to use my PC

What I need to know from you guys
-who is coming
-what are you bringing (food, games, extra routers, ect)
-what time are you coming and how long can you stay
-what do you want to play
-anything else?

Any questions, you can ask here or contact me at 016-4936208

Intro

With tribute to our founder, Acecombat (or KC, as some know him), I'm starting a new thread for POC as he will no longer be mantaining the old one. I'm lohwenli, you can call me Jaryl if you want. I'll be mantaining this new thread, but I'm not the leader of POC, (unless you want me to be smile.gif ).

OC database
Last updated : 2nd January 2008

If you want to be in the database, submit your screenshot (showing CPU-Z & at least one of the stress tests), and one and info in the following [/I]manner :-

Nickname : Proc (including core name & revision) : Proc Speed & Vcore : Mobo : Ram : Ram Speed, timing & Vdimm: CPU Cooling

for example
lohwenli : Pentium 4 2.8Ghz (Northwood M0) : 3500Mhz@1.525vcore : Abit IS7 : OCZ Platinum EL DDR400 : DDR500@2.5-3-3-7, 2.8vdimm : Generic Thermaltake heatsink

To be in the database either:-
1. Penang is your hometown
2. you stay in Penang for long term (Study or work here)
And of course you must overclock la..anything more than the default setting counts, even if its just a 1 Mhz fsb increment.

Stress tests required for verification (need 1 at least to be in verified list, with exception of record runs using either normal ice, dry ice & LN2)
1. 1 hour prime95/orthos (1 instance per core for prime, 1 instance per 2 cores for orthos)
2. 32M super pi (1 instance per core, not counted if stress test takes less than 30 mins)
3. 1 hour OCCT (this may be revised to 30 mins)
4. Other stress tests may also be accepted, as long as they can stress ALL cores 100% and are at least 30mins-1 hour long. List will be added as necessary.
OCs which are verified stable 24 hours or more will receive special mention

Overclocks in purple are 24hours stable
Record runs using normal ice, dry ice or LN2 (basically any cooling that cannot last) will be listed in bold
Overclocks not verified with a screenshot of at least one stability test mentioned above are listed in italics and in event of ties will be placed below other overclocks (I will update as overclocks are confirmed, still scanning through the V1 & V2 threads for previous screenshots, help me out by pointing to your own ok)

Jaryl,
The OC database seriously needs update...tongue.gif
All POC members who have change in information, please update ur info here in the thread to make it easier for Jaryl to do the update.

Btw, i'm proposing a new format for the OC database.
Nickname:Proc:Mobo:Ram:Proc Speed:Ram Speed:Vcore:Vdimm: Cooling Device(eg-model of hsf, watercooling)

This will make a more complete list for everyone's reference.
*
Agreed, though I suggest a slight change in the order
Nickname : Proc : Proc Speed : Vcore : Mobo : Ram : Ram Speed & timing :Vdimm: Cooling Device(eg-model of hsf, watercooling)

for example
lohwenli : Pentium 4 2.8Ghz (Northwood M0) : 3500Mhz@1.525vcore : Abit IS7 : OCZ Platinum EL DDR400 : DDR500@2.5-3-3-7, 2.8vdimm : Generic Thermaltake heatsink

anyway,i tested 4GB and 2GB in every application and game,in game, nothing much improved, same fps, just waste of money from 2Gb to 4GB,cause until today all games can uilize with 2GB only.
anyway,i'm using QX6850 @ 3.825GHz,i just came back from Germany.

I'll start a side list of those who haven't sent in their screenshots.

Updated the requirements for the OC database, there will be a seperate list for verified and unverified overclocks. A copy is here for those lazy to read the front page.

If you want to be in the database, submit your screenshot (showing CPU-Z & at least one of the stress tests), and one and info in the following manner :-

Nickname : Proc (including core name & revision) : Proc Speed & Vcore : Mobo : Ram : Ram Speed, timing & Vdimm: CPU Cooling

for example
lohwenli : Pentium 4 2.8Ghz (Northwood M0) : 3500Mhz@1.525vcore : Abit IS7 : OCZ Platinum EL DDR400 : DDR500@2.5-3-3-7, 2.8vdimm : Generic Thermaltake heatsink

To be in the database either:-
1. Penang is your hometown
2. ypu stay in Penang for long term (Study or work here)

Made some minor corrections to the OC requirements, all specs mentioned are now required (you can include other things if you want). Was typing in a hurry earlier.
Thinking of starting a list for GPUs as well, how about it?

I'm not sure about that, anyway to be a member you just need to OC something, doesn't matter what. Thing is, listing for GC OC is different from CPU OC (it'll be something like Core/Shader/Memory. Also thinking of a benchmark database.

Updated the OC database with the new format. All similar processors are now grouped together, equivalent server & desktop chips will be grouped together but different core counts and transistor size will still be grouped seperately.

A lot of information is missing, as previously didn't request for processor revision, mobo, ram & cooling info (damn there's a lot of 'unknowns' in the list). Please help out to add in you missing info, btw overclocks using different hardware (Proc, mobo, ram, cooling) will count as seperate OC attempt, but same hardware but different settings (eg vcore) will still count as an improvement of the same overclock.

LOL, still considering,
but the 3850 still have heat issue like the 8800gts,
it maybe even hotter than it >.<

sigh... why no good card which great cooler and good temperature >.<
*
3850 is cooler than 8800GT/GTS, thats for sure. 3870 is about the same as 8800GT when both are loaded, but 3870 is still cooler than 8800gt on idle.

Trust me, its a lot of fun..
And there are a few games which support this, supreme commander and some flight simulators. The experience is unbeatable..
But too bad, I'm too broke to set it up..only get to play for a while with borrowed LCD.

From wat i heard is prices will be permanently up.
So better grab ur rams soon.
It's not only the 2 brands, but almost every manufacturer shd increase price due to increase in price of ram chips.
*
It applies to all DDR2 ram. Manufacturers are taking heavy losses due to massive stockpiling last year in anticipation of Vista, so now they've shut down many of the DDR2 production lines to clear stock and push prices up to profitable levels before resuming production. They're also slowly moving over to DDR3, but don't expect DDR3 to become affordable (but still above DDR2 price) in anything less than 1-2+years. Flash & GDDR ram are also affected, even worse in fact. Samsung is selling off their GDDR3 stock below cost, 1/8 of the usual already low price of other manufacturers.

It would be a real bargain if prices were competitive with newegg.
Prices on online stores are going for pretty cheap.

Just imagine, 610w, 83% efficiency, low noise level despite using only 1 ADDA 80mm fan, 49A single 12v rail, 6 sata connectors, SLI Certified.
Seriously, it has everything i need and want.
Bro, u have any idea who's the distro for PCP&P/OCZ in M'sia? Does Gatum Dale still deal with them?
I seriously fell in love with this PSU... tongue.gif
This is the next best around 600w PSU apart from the Corsair HX, except that the Corsair is Modular and this is not.
*
There's no way it'll remain silent at 610W, only at low-medium load it'll be silent. At 83% efficiency its still got 100W+ of wasted heat to dump out of the PSU. And thats assuming it doesn't have to deal with the heat of the PC itself.

I don't think prices will drop anymore.
Reliable sources were pointing for a more to permanent increase.
However, i do hope prices will drop again someday.
*
Yeah, ram prices are very near rock bottom. Any lower and manufacturers will start taking losses.

hello fellow POC,
my friend got prob here. he just bought a new seagate 320gb.
the main prob here, every one 1 hour after he switch ON his pc, the hdd can't be connected. means after 1 hour, its just missing from My computer. how this can happened?? how to solve it??
*
Usually if hard disk play hide & seek with you, check the cable..
If still got problem, check the board, if no problem then time to RMA the HDD..for Seagate I have no worries anymore, their RMA damn reliable and fast, just make sure you send to Seagate directly and not through the shop. Go online, fill up the form, & post to them. I poslaju on Fri, got my replacement on Wed, delivered right to my doorstep. The packaging damn terror man, box is big enough to stuff 8 hdd but only contain 1..rest is protective foam..duduk on it also no problem.. thumbup.gif

my friend wanna sell his galaxy 7900gs to me. his gc is factory oced from 450/1320mhz to 550/1500mhz. then just this few days got some artifacts while playing games. i tried to reapply new thermalpaste b4, the temp drop a lot but the artifacts still occur.

then he just go buy 256mb 8800gt considering his gc is faulty already.
then he tried to lower the core/mem speed of his 7900gs to 500/1400mhz to try to fix his gc and now no artifacts while heavy gaming. he wanna sell the gc to me cheap2 only. what u guys think?? should i grab the gc?? he provide 1 weeks personal warranty as factory warranty expired. his price really damn cheap...laugh.gif
*
GRAB IT!!!
Seriously, thats a damn good deal..stupid card just needs to be reflashed to a lower speed..the factory OC is unstable..
