Btw, those who are coming for LAN party, please drop me a SMS so I have your HP to contact you for any quick updates. My no is 016-4936208.

There will be space for about 8 PCs at my place, though its not a good idea to bring CRTs as the depth of the tables available isn't much, you'll barely have space to put your keyboard and mouse if you put a CRT.

A few things
-Bring headphones. NO SPEAKERS allowed.
-I will put up a map to my house tomorrow.
-There may be 2 LCDs available for use, though not confirmed. Will go and try to collect tomorrow (its for my dad's office, but it won't be used so soon).

Final Update for LAN Party

Venue : Lohwenli's house

Time : 2pm. But try to come earlier, 1pm is ok.
What time to stop is open to discussion,

What to bring
-yourself nod.gif
-PC biggrin.gif
-LAN cables & spare router (if you have any)
-game disks (in case some of us don't have)
-food & drinks (light stuff)
-anything else you feel like bringing

There will not likely be enough time to do any OCing, so that will have to wait for another day. Anything, please contact me at 016-4936208

How to get to my house (from wikimapia)

user posted image

Follow the red arrows to my house, marked by the red spot.
Black arrows mark 1-way streets and point out directions to distant landmarks.

Next time, firm up time and place on Weekdays.
From my observation, POC is dead on weekends. Usually only 1 or 2 post on the weekends. Most people like me i guess, weekend not at home. Even at home also sleep most of the time...tongue.gif
*
I agree, next time I call for LAN party it will be on a weekday, weekends too much trouble for me to get venue. If possible I'll take advantage of public holidays.

Turns out I'm not going to be busy on Wesak (coming monday), but I'm not sure about having a LAN party. Maybe just go out with friends or my own OC session (which if no one comes it won't matter much). Btw, I will be in KL on Wed and Thu, anything I can help you guys with?

I think excessive pressure in mounting the heatsink might have resulted in that... sweat.gif

gsan koko,i would like to know what's the actual reason to make ur proc back to normal again?
as TIM is not conducitive one right?
*
I have no idea on this, but I don't think its because of the TIM's conductivity. Might just be a case of freak mounting, sometimes everything looks and feels ok, but mounting not ok. Kena few times before, strip apart whole system and assemble back with no changes to system and after that everythings fine.

Wanted to have some 'extreme' fun yesterday, but I'm still played out from last weekend (assembling a system with casemod, babysitting my sister, and god knows what else). Probably do it tonight..hehe..

Just had a thought and went to dig upmy old photo of your barton
user posted image

I know the pic is downsized by photobucket, but even when zooming in the original photo, close up its still as good as seen here. This was taken after that time when we were playing around with both bartons, and from then until you brought the system back to your dad I did not assemble the barton with a heatsink. Safe to say neither of us chipped the core nod.gif Look like your dad gonna have to fund a new barton..

I dunno about working conditions in AMD, but right now really isn't the best time to get a job there. They're still busy cutting costs there, job security is far from certain.

For a starting job, Intel seems to be a dream job for many engineers. But for some reason I haven't figured out yet, I heard many pull out from Intel after a few years.

2gb is more that enuf for me, as i wont doing gaming while video converting ~!~

Anyone wannna sell him ram here?? laugh.gif

2gb is not enough for supreme commander though..
With myself vs 3 AI with 250 units per side, I'm already out of ram (I'm using 2gb)

QUOTE(cschun86 @ May 22 2008, 09:06 AM)
better u bring one of ur front panel to lohwenli,
call him to do a fan controller for you,
and do at least 4 channel?
still cheaper than u get 2 of this one...
*
Go easy man..
I'm not going to start a business in fan controllers..its not as cheap as you think, and takes quite a bit of my time (I like things to be perfect). Check ngbh's threads, he has some pretty cheap ones which are good enough if not using high power fans (>1A). High power fans you'll need my help, but keep in mind I'll take my own time to do it and you'll have to wait.

QUOTE(tachlio @ May 22 2008, 09:10 AM)
haha seeing PC depot selling rm195, don know GZ have or not~~

but reaper seeing cant even hit 1100 @ 55515

think to get balistic instead.
*
Depends on which batch of reaper. Some good ones managed to hit 1300 and above, though those batches absolutely love voltage (at least 2.6V, and it starts to fly). If I'm not mistaken there was a pair that hit 1400 around 2.8v.

No la, just telling you..
Anyway reapers are warrantied up to 2.3V, so you can pump that much into them without thinking.

Not going OC very high le, if use 4gb shakehead.gif  coz high performance 4gbkit, the price  sweat.gif
*
I can't recall any particular good offers, but I do suggest you go for the cheaper options of performance 4GB ram. They usually overclock just as well as the more expensive ones (same chipset ma), and anyway there aren't any 4gb chipset that can rival the legendary D9GMH. Even then, most can reach at least DDR1000.

I'm back..after being missing for a week..if you thought you saw me online, its because I didn't managed to sign out (and say goodbye) before I left for Shah Alam for a camp on 28/5. Came back last tue, fell sick for a few days sad.gif Kinda hoping I would finish all the stuff I owe some people here, but as it turned out my working area is in a huge mess.. (previously I did most of my stuff elsewhere, but hard to work since most of my tools are here)

Just stripped the thing apart a few days ago, testing out the components one my one. Hopefully I won't take any longer than this week.

Btw you can find your fan controller hiding somewhere in the 2nd pic..can you see it?

I'll start V4 after I clean up and prepare the new front page. Current one is a mess..

long time not post in this thread. really suck la, no internet connection at my home..haha...later la wanna subscribe to Tmnut screamyx or maxis/celcom broadband. which one better arr??
*
Screamyx is (unfortunately) still better. At first maxis/celcom broadband was fast, but now too many people using already, and wireless can never really fight with wired networks, so yes, our best option is tmnut unless you live somewhere where almost nobody is using wireless broadband (and pray hard not too many will in the future)..

Oh, and I still owe you something...

our PC dont draw more than 20cent per hour..( normal PC with a q6600, an 8800gt)
but u can down clock whenever dont need full power, right?

like me.. when gonna sleep and lintening MP3.. i just run my Clockgen and winclock..
down clock my cpu to 700Mhz and my 1950GT to 300/340 rolleyes.gif
doing that for years now..
energy saving ..rite
*
Its hard to find PCs that take up more than RM50 a month while running 24/7 (except maybe Pentium D). Underclocking alone doesn't really help much, undervolting does a lot more, as shown in the previous screenshot. Low temps means processor isn't putting out much heat, which means its not taking much power too.

Guys,

Free for a LAN party next week? However the conditions stand for the venue I have available, its not available on Saturdays and nearly every Sunday. Other than that we can use it for the whole day till 10pm.

So guys, anyone wanna start suggesting something?

Haha..I'm far from done with my workshop area..really need to clear it up and make it neater or susah to do any work..
Btw you've seen it before in the pics of my F3 OC adventure..seriously though its a lousy place to OC..damn warm..

Lets see, I'm probably gonna be missing next few days finishing:

1. mfcm's controller
2. PMmonkey's controller
3. rainingzero's controller
4. Finish my previous long delayed and excessively revised casemod
5. Start and finish another desktop casemod while holidays last
6. Get my laptop ready (hopefully can get to bombman's workshop soon to do this)

Don't think I'm gonna do any more controllers for a while..jelak already..

Venue available to me is the conference room next to my dad's office. If elsewhere you guys have to find for us, I'm a little short on ideas and time to look for other venues. But wherever we have it, be smart la..make arrangements to carpool..

QUOTE(sonicscourge @ Jun 10 2008, 02:31 PM)
wah lau, cannot lar, gearbox pecah....
if wanna do 200, change shocks, suspension, retune engine, change 2 stage turbo, get 6 speed gearbox, change universal hub, clutch plate, get wing, and of course, such a big boot, get a few tongs of nitro
*
No need that complicated la..suspension and shocks of course have to change, but main thing is to change gearbox ratios, up the turbo compression (might need new or 2nd turbo), replace with higher flow fuel pump & injectors and reprogram engine computer.. 200kmh for diesel not that hard, as long as gear ratios can pakai and enough power, can easily reach. Upping power for diesel is less complicated since knocking/premature combustion isn't such a problem as with petrol engines, boost can pump gila high no problem as long as got enough fuel. No need to tune for high rev like petrol, anyway diesel burns slowly so you actually lose a lot less power keeping revs low (very muscle car feel).

QUOTE(salimbest83 @ Jun 10 2008, 02:57 PM)
any software that can easily change vcore without make my PC hang?
even ABIT uGUru cant do that..
and i oso cant use ati tray tool to automatically change GPU/mem speed..
allways make my PC hang..
*
CrystalCPUID voltage adjustments works for all 754/939/AM2/AM2+ processors though cool n quiet, and Intel processors supporting Speedstep/EIST (all C2D/C2Q, some P4 and PD).

QUOTE(yuying1 @ Nov 8 2008, 10:44 PM)
Hi guys,

Anyone know where to get electronic components in Penang Island?

Need to get some resistors, caps and some other ICs.

Thanks
*
Here are the best electronics shops in Penang island

Hang Sin Electronics (Kimberly street, you can turn in from Maccalum street, it exits to Penang road-its one way)
-look out for their yellow signboard, its hard to miss, moreover they take up two shops.
-have a decent selection of stuff (components & equipment), and usually quite cheap

Gem One electronics (Go to CIMB in Komtar (not Prangin), go up the stairs/escalator nearby and walk around)
-almost everything is overpriced here, but you can find exotic stuff like ready made inductors, ferrite coils, gears and other stuff hard to find elsewhere

Tong Sin (Argyll road, turn in from Penang road, look out on the right)
-a lot of old stuff available here, not sure about price though, place is new to me

Hondai (opposite tapak Pesta)
-lots of high quality stuff here, and you can order stuff from Farnell's catalog if its not in stock
-expect to pay for it though, they seldom stock cheap variants on most stuff. Even multimeters are all Fluke brand.

I tried looking for Hondai before, but it seems that it is not there anymore.

Is it located at the houses opposite Pesta?
*
Hondai is still there, you have to be on the opposite side of the road from Pesta, then turn in the service road running parallel to the main road.
