3850 is cooler than 8800GT/GTS, thats for sure. 3870 is about the same as 8800GT when both are loaded, but 3870 is still cooler than 8800gt on idle.

this two is using different panel....
the entry level is using TN panel,
and the ultra sharp using a better colour production panel...

IMO, 2208WFP is using TN from the spec of the viewing angle
it is TN, but a better TN than E228
