I am liking the N82's camera.. especially in low light condition Some photos My cat (resized to 1024x768) My cat again And this one... no resizing of image This are way better quality then my friend's K850 shots My K810 is kinda weaker then N82, but I guess it is because of the megapix which allows for more resolution and also the image processing which is used in the N82.

Nah... I'm PJ boi I left 1 photo unresized so that ppl can see actual quality of photo. Resizing will change the image quality no matter how little the compression. I do lots of image reviewing for K800 a year ago and it is crucial uploaded images be not resized Anyhow, future images will be resized here as it ain't no cameraphone review on the camera

QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Feb 8 2008, 11:35 PM) Hi, I'm using June 2007 version. After following malsingmap procedures... I got the new link and codes for v2.15 from the malsingmap admin/moderator. No problem with abbr. e.g. Sultan, J. = Jalan Sultan I notice you can set the map and POI details in GMXT settings. I only found 1 POI :-) need 1 more to go :-)

QUOTE(NewKid @ Feb 12 2008, 04:30 AM) Good point there bro. I add one.
If u wan good camera, LG Viewty will be.. Viewty (@_@) If for video recording I agree, for still images... I strongly disagree I've compared the Viewty still images with N82... and the Viewty is inferior to quite a degree compared to the N82 images. And if you add flash... it is REALLY disappointing... even my friend's G600's LEDs does better then the Viewty (@_@). As far as I know the N82's flash is the most powerful amongst all the cameraphones with Xenon Flash. My 2 cents This post has been edited by icecarpediem: Feb 12 2008, 10:08 AM

QUOTE(Mgsrulz @ Feb 13 2008, 11:48 PM) just bought myself an AP set N82 RM1740 (with arabic words on the keypad.. ) i tried using the GPS a few hours ago,but couldnt figure out how to use it. maybe it's because i dont have maps of Malaysia.. anyway, now im off to get them nokia maps Yo, download Garmin XT v4.10.60, it's better then Nokia Maps. Also the latest Malsing maps are really detailed. I contributed 1 POI, 2 errors in naming and they gave me the unlock code to the new maps.

Hmmm... I noticed something interesting today. I got a belt pouch for my N82. Each time I take out my phone from the pouch, the screen show as if it entered camera mode and back to standby mode.
I did some test and noticed that the magnet causes the camera to switch on (@_@)
I put the back of my phone with the camera cover to one of the magnets (which is near the camera cover when the phone is in the pouch) and viola, camera interface activated, and as I keep the phone there, I can even take shots (which are black because the cover is closed). When I put the phone 1 inch away, it goes back into standby mode.
I then tested by putting the phone in the pouch and just do some light shakes (the pouch is slightly thicker then the phone) and the camera activates and closes and activates and closes, sometimes the forward camera activates (@_@)
So something at the cover mechanism is reacting to the magnet on the pouch. Anyone else experience this? I got the pouch from Novacell.

to get 2.20, you need to contribute again. That's what I did. 1 POI, 2 corrections and antyong sent me the unlock codes and link to download 2.20 XT version.

Guys... how long does your battery last?
if on average, approx 1/2 hour on GPS, like 5 photos with flash, about an hour of phone calls, and now it is 5:03pm sudah low battery warning (multiple times). I'm on GSM network (not dual mode). Is it something wrong??
My battery was on full charge this morning.

Some photos to share The devil is here! Macro with slight focus lock Focus locked flower with blurred out background Regarding my battery issue, I tried today again with my GPS, phone calls, photo taking (with flash), until now, still got more then 1/2 battery on meter. And I used GPS even more this time, about 45 minutes. What was different, I didn't carry my phone in my pouch, but in my pocket. I'm guessing, the magnet on the pouch is causing the camera to activate in the pouch without me knowing and when it keep activating and deactivating it drains hell of a lot of battery juice. Just my deduction. Will test again tomorrow and see any difference again. Will update you guys and gals.

I can confirm now that it was my handphone pouch which was making my battery go down so fast.
I used GPS for a solid 2 hours (1/2 hour, 1/2 hour, 45 min, 15 min sessions). Made about 1 hour of calls, took some photos with and without flash (8 shots total), SMS abit (I think 15 smses?), listen to some mp3s and the battery was at 2 bars from kaput at 11PM. To drain it I just kept playing MP3 then just keep taking photos with flash (don't remember how many, take delete take delete). As previously, I'm on GSM only network mode and bluetooth constantly on.
So I can safely say, a handphone pouch with magnetic cover will cause issues. How so, when you walk around the phone moves in the pouch and the magnet activate and deactivates the camera (in very quick sessions) and that causes the battery to be drained real fast.
I am currently using a pouch which is velcro type and my battery is going strong.

Difference between sharpness settings on camera : Hard Normal Soft I tried to minimize as much as possible compression side effects, so I hardly compressed the resized images, you all can see the difference? I notice hard sharpness really screws up the image quality.

QUOTE(stevenlys @ Feb 23 2008, 03:30 AM) I found that N82 need quite a long time to receive GPS satelite~somemore when crusing i need atleast half an half an hour to receive the signal and disconnect easily~ Strange. I always start my GPS when in car and I'm already driving. I usually get lock within 2-5 minutes. And the satellite reception is quite good. Only once I experience continuous disconnects, and that is for like 5 minutes only.

The velcro belt pouch I'm using : I got it from the Curve from Nokia shop. Kinda costly though... RM60. However, it is pretty solid in built. There is another one which is grey in colour and doesn't use velcro, but just a flip lock. I didn't get that one... no confidence in the locking mechanism

I do find the camera to be good enough for 4R prints. It beats my K810 (with modified enhanced drivers). The flash is very powerful for a cameraphone. No doubt it cannot compete with a dedicated digital camera, but then, I got 1 less equipment to carry. The flash is also good enough as a fill in flash too... except when in open air bright sunny day... it is not powerful enough to work as a fill in. Else... it is great. So all in all... very good work by Nokia. Too bad SE didn't make any notable improvements to the K800/K810. The K850 just plain sucks on the camera department I'm curious with the G810 from Samsung though... it is said to be their new flagship camera centric phone, successor to the G800.

I'm trying to make my own tripod... modifying a car handphone holder to be the head of the tripod. Full size tripod with modified head (inter changeable with actual tripod head) Need more R&D first
