QUOTE(snakevenom @ Mar 15 2008, 08:59 AM) yeah from the look the keypad is tiny, but once u use it for a while you'll feel it's just nice. typing sms is much easier now. I kinda disagree. You get used to the small keypad, but I also won't say it's "good" ... I'd say it's more like "adequate" only.

Nothing particularly great about 64-bit ... unless you need more than 4 gigs of ram o_o ... Random picture ... Like New! Taken with N82, of course. Car is coming to 3 years old.

QUOTE(andrewL @ Mar 16 2008, 03:21 PM) @deodorant is it just me or your pic kinda seems like it has a lil too much noise. No choice. Basement had very very very poor light, when I was wiping off the polish that time I also had problems seeing whether I already wipe off all or not.

Hmm, any of you got any recommendations for cradle that can put the phone standing upright in the car? Cos ... the GPS isn't good enough for audio only, must see the map also ... but if one hand hold phone one hand drive ... a bit dangerous ...

OK you guys having problems with Nokia Maps / GPS ...
The N82 doesn't come with the Malaysia-area map pre-loaded (at least, it didn't for my AP set, can't say for local set whether is the same), so you need an internet connection to download the map - either via GPRS/3G (expensive) or Wi-Fi (cheap/free).
Reason you got a dot and blank screen probably cos you got satellite lock liao, and it shows you where you are, but the map itself not downloaded yet. It's similar to google earth for PC if you use it before ... when u scroll / zoom in to new area then only it will download the data for that area.
Best solution imo is just download garmin mobile xt and the malsingmap ... if you lazy to contribute, the free map from malsingmaps is already quite detailed liao.

QUOTE hmm..as a customer, u do have the rights to change the whole unit, since it's brand new Hehehe M'sia a lot of our rights are just officially only ... but in practice cannot also I just tested my headset ... and I think it's cacat. The buttons work fine but the sound from the earphones are super lousy / super low volume (and besides I also don't like the "feel" of how they fit in my ear). A bit lazy to go to LY to warranty leh ... cos I know that I will 99.9% never ever use them anyway ...

QUOTE(NewKid ) A review of latest camera phones. It might help you to choose. Eh that review sucks ... it's not even a real review, more like just an explanation of what features each phone has, doesn't mention anything about how good/bad each of the phones (and their features) are in comparison with each other also.

QUOTE(blstz @ Mar 22 2008, 09:06 PM) Anybody have any idea how to transfer my contacts from SE W800i to N82? Besides using the copy to sim card function. Thanks! For me what I did was sync my S-E phone contacts with MS Outlook, and then sync MS Outlook with N82.

Eh, the new Garmin not so stable leh ... with the directions on, I notice that once in a while when you rotate the phone, GMXT doesn't redraw properly (from landscape <--> portrait) and then the graphics will hang (but the voice still giving directions in the background).

QUOTE(preducer @ Mar 24 2008, 07:41 PM) i dont think u have tried login to timezone or streamyx hotspot, they have a seperate page where ur suppose to put in ur username/password.. how do i bypass that ? it's very troublesome to keep login eveyrtime i wanna use. Ahh I get you. I don't think that's possible ler, after all even if you do the same thing with laptop, it will also force you to authenticate your login before surfing every time (though laptop browser I suppose you can save username/password so no need to type).

QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Mar 26 2008, 07:21 PM) My advise, if you want fashion/nice design/slim go for Samsung/LG/ etc. For me, I have an aversion to LG phones ... I have two friends who bought the Viewty, same time as my N82 1 month ago, both also back to dealer for repair already.

Honestly surfing the web using the N82 (or any phone for that matter) ... sucks. The screen is too small, text input too slow, and the scrolling will make you go Nowadays when I'm bored in starbucks I'll just emTube instead of web-surfing. Even surfing LYN on phone also too irritating/annoying to do long-trem.

Haih this question pop up so many times in the thread A-GPS is combination GPS + GPRS <-- GPRS you have to pay. Normal GPS is free. Nokia Maps is free for location/map, pay for directions. Garmin MXT is free everything location, map & directions, but the software is not free (unless you *ahem* it, haha). @NewKid >> The camera shutter sound, certain firmware region when the phone is on silent mode, there won't be camera shutter sound. My phone was like that, I don't remember the original firmware region though, I think it was EURO. [edit] http://ericscorner.blogspot.com/2008/01/my...n82-review.htmlQUOTE There are 4 different shutter sounds to select from. In most N82 firmware, you cannot silent the shutter sound or the autofocus sound even if you switch to Silent mode in Profiles. EURO firmwares allow you to silence the shutter and autofocus sounds in silent mode. This post has been edited by deodorant: Apr 7 2008, 09:28 AM

Wow qiyi, huge congratulations QUOTE(NewKid ) Hey deodorant, have u tried the euro firmware? where to get? My phone came with Euro firmware (AP mahh), but cos no Chinese support so I switched to APAC. Hmmm I think cos it's got nothing to do with piracy, can post. Basically you need NSS (Nemesis Software Suite) to edit the product code of your N82 to a EURO code. Then you run NSU (Nokia Software Updater) and it will auto update your phone firmware to your phone's region. Details --> google, I don't remember exact details liao.

[quote=blackrobin] I must say it's not as easy as I thought. It took 2-3 seconds before the screen is changed to landscape mode [/blackrobin] It's a problem with your set then. Auto-rotate is super easy on my N82.
Having said that auto-rotate giving me huge problems with the new Garmin (the ver that fixed the # bug) -- 10% of the time when I rotate, Garmin doesn't redraw the map and I'm stuck with only voice navigation. Can't even close the app, need to off and on phone to restart Garmin, zzzz.
Yeahh I know it's some problem with the new Garmin, dunno why. Also occasionally the app will quit for no reason back to Standby ... odd. I'm thinking of switching back to the old garmin cos the # bug wasn't that annoying once you got used to it ...
