Izzit true? Yes there is a difference. If you are using EFi engines, you need to get spark plugs with resistors to prevent electrical damage to the ECU. These NGK spark plugs are noted with 'R', for example BKR5E-11, the R stands for resistor.Carb engines do not have sensitive electronics like the ECU and can use any plugs. QUOTE(Aeon_Clock @ Dec 27 2007, 10:16 AM) so, should I just change the spark plugs? You'd fry the ECU... slowly. The R notation is only applicable for NGK as they are OEM for quite a lot of cars and some manufacturers have 2 same engines with and without ECU, example, our 4G13 carb and EFi. Sparkplug still same code but ECU will use the one with R. I have to look for spark plugs with the 'R' is it? Does Bosch have spark plugs with resistors too? last question - what kind of damages will incur if I keep using this normal spark plug on EFI engine? Other brands will either indicate that it is a resistor plug or have specific models for ECU engines. |

QUOTE(Aeon_Clock @ Dec 27 2007, 10:55 AM) I'm now wondering if the Bosch super 4 spark plugs I got last time were resistor plugs...cha dou man... The question is actually... did you buy the right plugs for your car? If the plugs are for your engine, then there is nothing to worry. If the engine needs resistors, then it would be built into the plug for the engine. However, if you accidentally bought the plugs for a carb car, then there is a good chance there is no resistor in it. |

really no idea...the spark plugs have been replaced...there's no way I can check if the Bosch Super 4 I used last time had resistors or not. Will go and replace the spark plugs right after work. Thanks man.
