Thundermatch = Lowyat Plaza = 8800GT Palit Sonic edition (same company which produces the Expertvision 8800GT Sonic)

RM825 (core 650/mem 1900/shader ???)

PCZone = Lowyat plaza = 8800GT Colorful (same design as Palit sonic edition)

RM785 (core 600/ mem 1800/ shader ??/

Anyways the moral of the story is,...share good tips and good prices if you know where to get,...a lot of malaysian very kiasu,..wanna keep good info for themself and make a fast buck out of it,..dammned suxx,...ALSO learn to GOOGL your answers and dont expect it to be spoonfed,...

Online pricelists are not the latest up to date as actually walking into the shop,..remember that,..

Sri Computer = Lowyat Plaza = Enermax 460 watts FMA II Dxx version (i am currently using : see my sig. ) use to be selling at rm265 now RM199.00

ALL IT = Low yat Plaza = Enermax Tomahawk 500 watts (newest edition : color blue) selling now rm299,...

Of course the BEST BANG for your buck is the Enermax FMA II (also know incorrectly in lowyat pricelists as "iron man" Iron " etc,....

also with casing door open,..a normal stand fan shooting in,...and the fan on the 8800gt colorful spinning at 60%:

idle : 45 celcius

Load : 50 celcius

Ipoh Deztiny Technology is selling XpertVision 8800GT 512MB Sonic at RM850 (Same as Palit 8800GT 512MB Sonic as they are under same factory). Perhaps it could still be negotiable.

if the palit 8800gt sonic is rm820 then i think thats the best for its price.

custom cooler - 650/1650/1900 - rm820

Gigabyte 8800 turboforce

zalman vf700AlCu - 700/1700/1900 - rm860

Just test my Palit 8800gt Sonic with benchmarks and games.

test at Factory OC(650/1900) fan speed 60%
idle - 53C
Max peak at load - 65C thumbup.gif

Seriously no issue for 8800gt heat problem. My previous Asus 8800gts 320mb even idle at 62C and load at 80C with fan speed 100% shakehead.gif

I think this card is the best price/performance ratio currently.

@toro86

the rm820 is pricelist price or discounted a bit? As this card is sold at minimum rm855 in bulk and much higher few weeks ago.

Plan to OC further to test the potential of this card.
Will let u know if got any issue. icon_rolleyes.gif

And for more info,Viewnet is selling inno3d 8800gt for rm799,but using stock cooler only.

Thundermatch is also selling MSI 8800gt OC (660/1900) at rm830 after discount, this one is new version, using red PCB and modified cooler, but i still pick PALIT Sonic edition over this, coz PALIT cooler seems more promising. icon_rolleyes.gif

thanks! i in fact don't play much latest 3d games but i do home video as a hobby. is a 8800gt okay for me? i'm also thinking of future proofing so i don't mind to get a better card now instead of upgrading it later. so is the 8800gt good investment now or wasting money?

i received comments that if i don't play 3d games, getting a 8800gt is overkill, like buying a ferrari but only drive at 80kph, hahaha. i'll do some research again and see what's a suitable gc for me. i do video editing, but some said gc has little effect on video editing.

Well, for the performance 8800GT offer at today's prices, it's a worthwhile investment. For these kinda performance say 2-3 years ago, it would cost RM2k easy. So if a Ferrari is offered at Proton prices today (Kancil too much lar), best grab it. thumbup.gif

And yes, GC does have some effect on video editing. For eg. read this: http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index...28055706AAyu6FO

For those waiting for 9600GT, dun hold your breath, this model is NOT meant to replace/beat the 8800GT. Read this (see bottom post): http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/582537/+400

Tips for those getting gigabyte 8800gt turbo force edition

make sure you insist on zalman (rev 1.0) fan... the older zalman vf700 is known to be having lotsa overheat issues...

the latest revised model is using zalman vf830.. you can check this out by looking at the box sticker with GV-NX88T512HP REV 1.0. The box may display Zalman VF700.. but the physical card itself is using Zalman VF830. Best bet is to check the sticker first.

I checked Viewnet price list already. It's Albatron 9600GT @ RM549 and Albatron 8800GT @ RM724. Super cheap wor!! My friend managed to do high overclocking for Albatron 8800GT, up to 720Mhz core clock, 950Mhz memory clock and 1800Mhz shader clock. Great card!

BTW, anyone has any scores on Albatron 9600GT and it's overclocking capability?

hehe. i did a 720 / 950 too!

the thing is this, it was at 720 / 950 because i wanted it to pass all my tests. smile.gif (the games used for review). quite often looks like it's heat issue because usually the games run ok for a while before crashing. it can actually achieve higher OC.

as for the 9600GT, i got it just before election day but only had manage to slot it in today and it works great so far. no time to OC yet. smile.gif

I think the most worth 8800GT now is this at rm699 :

Bro, Forsa is a cheapo brand coz they used cheap components and less layers PCB. From what I've heard, high failure rate too. That is why you dun see many good scores (overclocking and performance) from Forsa. Buy it only if you are on a tight budget.

My suggestion: buy Albatron, it's the most overclockable card around. See this result: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/647005 thumbup.gif

My preference would be Albatron, XFX and Galaxy, in that order. And as you can see, I own lotsa of Albatron, now and in the past. brows.gif

See the 2 HDMI and 2 DVI ports plus SPDIF, perfect for dual monitors gaming!

And guess what? I saw the box on display in PC Zone! brows.gif Looks like PC Zone really have unique stuffs. icon_idea.gif

Just wondering if anyone has bought or use this Gainward extreme overclocked card before. If yes, please share your experience and performance. Seen many people mentioning this brand OC performance in the 8800GT and 9600GT threads.

Considering either Gainward or Albatron 9600GT for my gaming rig, hard choices esp. after seeing Albatron overclocking capability by Najmods. hmm.gif
