Hey Hwoarang, I wanna ask something about the S2409W.

It seems that I've been hearing that buying the S2409W from the Dell Malaysia website, the monitor doesn't come with a HDMI input? That is only reserved for foreign models instead?

I assume you bought it from Dell Malaysia though, just want to make sure.

Both BenQ V2400W and FP241VW aspect ratio is 16:10. Although both have 1:1 pixel mapping. So it does solves the stretching and cropping problems albeit with black borders.

16:9 monitors don't really need 1:1 pixel mapping though. Atleast so far not yet since even currently the budget priced Dell S2409W has a great 720p scaling capabilities with it.

Check out Hwoarang5's review: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum...pic.php?t=14311

i guess the dell S2409W doesn't have 16:9 ratio as well. what bout samsung T240. i can't seem to find the ratio tho
*
doh.gif

Did you even read the review?

Infact, just looking at the specs tells you the obvious: 1920x1080 = 16:9 ratio.
Want more confirmation? Go to Dell's website page for the S2409W, promoted right on the page 16:9 aspect ratio.

Finally, one more last confirmation. I just seen the monitor a few minutes ago and yes, IT IS 16:9 aspect ratio.

may i know where is city bazaar? izzit in LY? I am looking for a hdmi cable tho

Added on September 12, 2008, 3:36 amBtw, which is better to connect to ps3 ? Asus MK241H or Samsung T240?
*
Asus MK241H is better. Its 19x12 res is absolutely stunning, the bad thing however is that its scaler is really bad. So older PS3 games which are locked on 720p is bound to look like crap.

Just got news that BenQ's upcoming E2200/E2400HD and M2200/M2400HD WILL have 1:1 pixel mapping!! Old PS3 games like Uncharted, R&C: ToD, Heavenly Sword all didn't have 1080p support. Not a freaking problem anymore now, pure 720p unstretched and uncropped visuals is not a problem!

Price not confirmed yet but BenQ is looking at placing the E/M 2200HD at around RM900-RM1.1k where as the E/M2400HD will be around RM1.5k-1.7k.

Good news, but a question here..the reason why BenQ comes up with 16:9 aspect ratio LCD is to get rid of the black bars and image stretching from the 16:10 to fully utilize the 1080p HD features..
But since a 1280 x720 would look perfectly aligned in a 16:9 is there a necessity to have 1:1 pixel mapping?
If we run the 720p games like u said in 1:1 pixel mapping..does that means black bars will still come out in the upcoming 16:9 LCD?
*
Yes it will. The 1280x720 res will be letterboxed on the screen.

You can always turn off 1:1 pixel mapping if you want, the image will then just go full screen. Of course expect some stuff to be blur, but its hard to say for now. We may never know how good BenQ's E/M 2200/2400HD scalers are until its out. But judging from pass experience with BenQ monitors, they usually have some of the best scalers around.

They are also one of the very damn few LCD manufacturers which uses proper DCR on their panels. That means, their DCR actually freaking works unlike all those bullshit by Samsung and Viewsonic.

So, just 2 more weeks till the end of September. Lets see how good BenQ's monitors are. If they nail it right, its going to be awesome.

i heard the UltraSharp 2408WFP 24-inch Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor is like superb.
Best picture quality lcd atm
*
Its an S-PVS panel, what do you expect? You pay more than RM2.5k for it even. For that price you can easily get a 32" Sharp Aquos.

Looking forward for the review of the upcoming releases..
Yea, being an ex-user of the V2400W, I gotta agree with you as BenQ has one of the best scalers around..
Another factor that might get me to get the new upcoming release is they have the compatibility with HDMI 1.3..
But all comes down to does the PS3 really supports the HDMI 1.3..because i've read some articles that the PS3 manual did stated it supports it but only the audio part..
Correct me if i'm wrong.. smile.gif
*
E and M series uses HDMI 1.3. No worries there.

And yes, since day one the PS3 has supported HDMI 1.3. There is a deep color option(or rather in the PS3's case, Full Color) under the display settings.

Hwoarang45,

I just wanted to know whether the s2409w is hdmi 1.3 version.

But I know the upcoming benq HD lcd is HDMI 1.3, hopefully can beat Dell price.
*
BenQ's E2200HD has just been released in India. After conversion, the price is about RM770 here which is a freaking sweet deal for a 22 incher. Of course, you'll need to add in tax, localising price and what not. But I'm ready to bet that it wouldn't be more than RM900.

S2409W is using HDMI 1.3 port btw.

Good to heard that S2409W is using 1.3 port..I've ordered one last week because I can't wait no longer for the BenQ E series to hit us here..plus..the E series's design doesn't suit my taste much..and based on what observation..Ben I'm sure you'll get one as soon as the are here right?

Do provide us your thoughts about it after testing one.. thumbup.gif

*
Good choice either ways, because I'm sure the E2400HD will be more than RM1.1k mostly. If its lower, I'll go up to BenQ Malaysia and tell them that I'll rename my name to BenQ laugh.gif

Not sure if I'll pick one up yet. I'll need to test the unit first, so far what BenQ has said on the monitor is all but promising. It has 1:1 pixel mapping, or so they say. The great thing of course is that BenQ's scalers are one of the best on the market today(can even rival LG actually), so thats freaking nice to hear. I just want to see how much is it when it is released.

*EDIT*

A protoype of Dell's S2209W has been spotted!

user posted image

Don't know if it'll be 1920x1080 res or not, but it most probably should. Since I am taking that this will be the direct competitor to BenQ's E2200HD.

Yes thats the difference.

Though E series is black color only with no webcam, and M is white only with webcam.
Other technical differences, they are the same. They use the same panel as well.

BTW, theres also the E900HD.
http://benq.com/products/LCD/?product=1375...=specifications

Though I don't know why this hasn't arrive in Malaysia yet as it has been released for well over a month now. The very nice thing about this monitor is that it stays on the tried and true standard of 720p(or 1366x768). Its nice then as all PS3 games has support for this resolution either ways(be it even if the games itself not being native 720p even).

Bad news of course, screen size being only 18.5", no HDMI input(which also means theres no support for 1.3, you can forget about Deep Color). The 5ms response time is also rather saddening, as thats only GTG. Other than that, it has a lousy built-in 2w speakers.....

Its ok for a bed-side monitor, but for gaming.... I don't think its that good. Either way, don't know how much this monitor is selling, if its RM600 or less then it'll be a worthwhile purchase. If not.... E2200HD is the way better option here.

I just heard from BenQ Malaysia that they are choosing now to either bring in the E or M series, not both as opposed to originally planned. Unless something changes, we will only see either E or M on sale then.

I want the E series more as I am very sure the M will definitely cost more because fo the webcam.

Most probably because they aren't sure which consumers will buy more. Probably if they bring in only one, then everyone is forced to buy that one only. If theres a big enough demand, they'll bring another one probably.

This isn't confirmed news though. They may just end up bringing limited quantities for both the E and M series and see which sells out faster then concentrate on the one which is more popular.

if one of the series came into malaysia..how about the price? as far as i know..lots of benQ LCD monitor that going through malaysia market is a low quality compare to other brand..hope this one not~

16:9 display BenQ LCD..compare to dell 2409W..which one betteR?
*
No price figure yet by estimation for E2200HD is RM800-900. E2400HD would be around RM1200-1400.

Since when was BenQ LCD monitors low quality. For the price you are paying, you are getting some of the most worthwhile TN panels. Infact, if you want to compare TN panels, BenQ is arguably the best now.

Don't go comparing them to S-IPS or MVA.

He's probably worried about not having 1:1 mapping on an outsource, like some PS3 games being locked in 720p only.

I tried to contact BenQ about the RM1199 pricing for the E2400HD, and I didn't get a response yet.

The M2200HD should be cheaper than the E2400HD however.

Do note that the M2400HD and E2200HD have also been released, don't know why Star didn't publish them up in the news.

dell E248WFP or dell S2409W which 1 is better for pc + ps3 users?

p/s: im using 9800gtx for pc
*
Well if you don't mind paying more and don't mind black borders, the E248WFP is a more advanced monitor.
I'd still suggest the S2409W though.

BTW, an update on BenQ's E/M 2k series monitors.
Currently stock is extremely limited in Asia, theres no shipments of the monitors to Malaysia yet sadly. Price is still up in the air though.
I'll keep a look out for you guys on when it'll arrive, I am myself eagerly waiting for it too!

Does anyone know where can I find a small cheap amplifier which I can put the white and red audio cables in and receive the sound through headphone. I saw such product on Ebay but I've never shopped online.

I want to use HDMI > DVI. And the RCA for audio.
*
Depending on your budget really...

I'm using the Edifier E3100 and it has an audio input via a Y-splitter. I can of course directly use a headphone and connect it to my speaker to get the sound to my headphones as well.

RM699 from Startec, now already out of stock. That was only for 3 units....

ha e2200hd rm699? i call benq customer service this morning and they said that e2200hd not available in m'sia yet, so they have no idea what is the exact price for it  whistling.gif
btw may i know who is the forumer that said the price is rm699?
*
Don't ask their cust. service, they are really slow in being updated. E2200HD is available in m'sia already, just that stock is extremely limited at the moment. Price is less than RM800 for sure however.

OMG! Freaking sweet rezuan!! Thanks for the pic, now I can see that it absolutely scales with 720p resolution very well!

Any AA issues btw? I think you already know that playing on a 16:10 monitor will always make the image on the screen look very jaggy due to it being stretched. No issues of that sort I think atleast from the pictures you took, but just want to reconfirm with you.

Thanks a bunch bro! notworthy.gif
