its stable alright , and y wud u 1 to buy a mac to run windows =X
*
btw, you still need windows. rolleyes.gif at least for some of the applications.

Hmm, why you need a mid-range mbp? go for the low end, Rm7499 version. mid-range version is just got higher vram (graphic card ram) and bigger hdd space wink.gif

The 17' is too big and costs a bomb.....so still not sure which 15' to get.
*
well, you just ask yourself this simple question.
"Do you play games (those high end games brows.gif )? or Do you need those extra vram?"

If you don't, then just choose the lower end version. Save few thousand and use few hundred to max up the ram wink.gif

few hundred? I'd say less than 300 to max out the ram, unless you are going for Apple rams... lol
*
huh.gif what wrong with few hundred? rm300 also can be said as few hundred mar. yawn.gif

i wonder Mac can support lightwave 9?
*
yea.. here you go --> http://www.newtek.com/news/releases/08-01-06f.html

Btw, it got both version (windows and mac) for quite a long time lo. The 3D application only for windows is 3Ds Max, and interior design application which is autocad. You still have to use windows for those applications wink.gif

That's another conderation since I do play games and its one of the reason why I'm goin for MBP as the graphic card is quite good. I have got my console for games most of the time, its more towards when I am travelling.

I dont do heavy CGI but use mostly stuff like Vector Works (ie drawing prog).

biggrin.gif

Well, if you serious in gaming, then you can choose the mid-range mbp. Btw, when in gaming, then you have to use windows (xp or vista, either way will do)

QUOTE(rx330 @ Dec 21 2007, 09:05 AM)
hmmm, macbook pro looks ugly....

laugh.gif For me, it is the 17" punya. Really fugly man. sweat.gif doh.gif It seems like the keyboard looks too tiny in 17" mbp shakehead.gif

Yup, i am more leaning towards the mid range MBP.....

Do you mean that 9k mbp? shocking.gif If you only want to play warcraft 3 only, just get macbook la. It is more than enuf. Seriously, even Pentium3 can play warcraft3. biggrin.gif If you not into those FPS games, then just get the low end mbp, Rm7499. Save few thousand and use like less than "rm300" to max the ram till 4Gb. You really don't need the extra VRAM if you are not into serious gaming.

@lilredridinghood,
There's a 0.6kg difference if I'm not mistaken.  Between 1.8-1.9kg for the MB and 2.5kg for MBP - it does make a difference actually! *grins*  blush.gif  I use to carry a 1.7kg 12.1" Fujitsu, and now i find the MBP a little heavy but I knew about the weight before I bought it cause i wanted a bigger screen *grins*

Ah well.. nothing's perfect right?  tongue.gif
*
no offense, gal.

MB weight is more than 2kg (including battery of cos) and it is almost the same weight as MBP (15" punya). I own one MB and it is darn heavy i would say for 13.3" laptop.

To be more specific, I went to apple site.

Weight: 5.0 pounds (2.27 kg) - MB
Weight: 5.4 pounds (2.45 kg) - MBP (15")
Weight: 6.8 pounds (3.08 kg) - MBP (17")

Hell yeah for the 17". and fugly looks too, especially the keyboard "thingy" shakehead.gif

Just one question... if i run photoshop and Illustrator in macbook 2.2ghz in same time will it be hang?

I plan to buy MBP but looking at the price in Aus is too expensive... I'll be using mostly Adobe programs with some 3D program for my Uni next year scared Macbook cannot support the workload...

=/
*
no problem dude. As long as you got the huge ram. Btw, usually i open 3 apps in my macbook, DRW, PS and AI cos i doing web-design. My macbook ram is 1.5Gb. So it is just minimum. So far so good, no problem. But if you open a bigger file then you probably can only open either one of those programs.

Recommended is 2-3Gb ram. 2D applications need RAM, not the graphic card. 3D applications need graphic card as well. I have not test 3D applications in my macbook. I think no problem 1 la if the file size is not so big la. If you really into 3D animation or video editing, then mb is a no-no for you. Get macbook pro or mac pro brows.gif

QUOTE(ifer @ Dec 31 2007, 01:30 AM)
i got my mbp mainly for photoshop only.
i dont use illustrator wan.
but i dont think you will have any problems with both softwares...
4GB RAM is the way to go

doh.gif sweat.gif Get macbook is more than enuf. Sometimes don't quite get those rich /b/astar. I saw a customer buy mid-range macbook pro (Rm9k+). What did he use for? For business only.. aiduh la.. doh.gif doh.gif Why need pro? macbook is more than enuf shakehead.gif

allvin,

Let me explain to you this way. "John" drives a Merc S Class to work everyday. In fact, he only lives 3km away and barely travels. Why does he the S Class? He's no gonna need the more powerful engine. He is married too. Why not just a C class?

Well, quite simply because he can afford it. Life like that... =)

yea i know that logic.. laugh.gif Just sometimes piss me off.. And i encounter one teen girl (15-16yr old), got iphone le.. cool.gif That's life

i think you get me wrong.. laugh.gif sweat.gif Did I call you /b/astar? Nope.. I don't think so. I refer to that customer I serve. He bought mid-range mbp (RM9k) just for business usage. SO? hmm.gif
