well... extreme once awhile just for a change laugh.gif
well,, its basically due to my disatisfaction with my old gigabyte mobo which max out at 1.5v thus im unable to go more than 3.5Ghz.

though my main purpose of getting this board is in preparation for phenom's new stepping, its still rather disappointing....

then again, the board quality is extremely good. It will be able to withstand huge heavy heatsinks, well, mainly it was indeed designed for crossfire X laugh.gif

And regarding the voltage issue, its with the bios. The old bios are able to go 1.57v (ver1.0) and the new bios which come shipped with my board(v1.1) is maxed out at 1.47. Currently im getting support from msi hopefully they will come out with a better bios =)

my temps when running 3.55Ghz @ 1.55v barely even hit 40c on full load... if you were me im sure you will be pretty pissed that the board limits you before the temp does. doh.gif

its a D2 800mhz, havent really push it yet, after some quick test it is still unable to beat my old 10th anniversary.

So far, its running on the same settings as my crucial on a 24/7 clock (1066mhz/2.2v/5-5-5-15)

My new 3870 should be arriving today, next month upgrade would be phenom. Damm cant wait !! drool.gif

btw, ive sold my tracers, will cod with another forumer here today for OCZ Reaper HPC edition.

Fitted my rig with 2 140MM fan, here some picture of my Rig.  wink.gif
Previously using 2 black Coolermaster fan 120MM 1200RPM.
Now with the new 2200RPM 140MM the heat is effectively transfered from the HSF to 3 direction, 2 140MM and 1 120MM.

Hey bro,

According to the pm that you sent to me regarding your dual channel problem, u mentioned that u placed your ram in slot 1 and slot 3. In order to run dual channel, you will have to slot them in slot 1 and 2.

this is indeed very strange then, im still running my tracers on that board the same morning before passing it on to you...
come come grab my ram offer and test it out drool.gif
i think most likely the ram is the culprit.

Im guess its your ram which is the culprit. Change it to 2T command rate and try again.

your voltage are pretty fine IMHO, mine needs the same as yours for a solid 3.2Ghz, for 3.4Ghz rock solid you will need at least 1.5

those thick profile 3.8cm fans are amazing if you use them with a proper controller. As the matter in fact, i have 2 of those 120x120x38 monster on my radiator. No normal profile fan is able to provide the air flow like these thick fans, with silent speed (3-5v), the air flow is still awesome yet its totally silent, and when you're in the mood for some overclocking, let them roar laugh.gif

and btw devilman, glad to see that you liked the 140mm fans, they are really really silent and yet able to produce good airflow. Now got new fan controller in stock xD

DFI has been classy/fancy since the first Lanparty board was introduced... that was like since the K7 era already  whistling.gif
naah.... just a 4400+ DO  tongue.gif

haha, what i meant was, usually their packaging looks cheap for those who dont know the DFI brand. Very typical china type packing, and the lan party has been UV reactive since then.

Well.. the difference i was trying to say is like... the old DFI looks very "lala-zhai" type while the new 790 board looks bloody awesome classy drool.gif

dude.. that brown spot is the copper. You need to sand it more to remove all the nickel coat so that only the copper is exposed.

Look at mine after fully lapped.

it should be copper already.

i guess most AMD users are budget wise minded, that includes me as well. Speaking of which... performance rams these days are blardy cheap, can't wait for my 4gb kit from kingmaker, RM400 for a kit of 2x2gb DDR1000 kit drool.gif

Also, is it just me, or does anyone else here feels that AMD runs windows smoother than intel counter parts? being using dblooi's F3 for awhile.. and a couple of days ago i set up my friend's C2D E6850 and it a littler choppier than my very own F3.... hmm..

Black edition till the end is still a brisbane, on the same clock as a 5200 does, the 5200 wins. The black edition has an unlocked multi which makes it fun to tweak, you can have a cheap ram and clock the CPU skyhigh without ram limitation and also, keep the speed low while burning your ram skyhigh.

But after tasting Windsor and brisbane cores, id go for 5200+ anytime rather than 5000+ BE.

review? nowadays they are more like corrupted advertisements to me  smile.gif
a CCB8F 5200+ beats 5000+ BE in no time, in term of clock to clock CPU performance , OC ability and also L2 cache capacity and latency notworthy.gif

edited: unlocked multiplier? i doubt that you will use up to 25x multiplier  laugh.gif

Yes, reviews are only used as a refference and not final concluding result. Most review these days are corrupted.

QUOTE(soulfly @ Jan 10 2008, 12:46 PM)
instead of getting 5000+ BE, might as well get a 4400+ G2

use 10x multi and try to go from there.

I remembered my previous X2 4000+ manage to hit 3.1Ghz + on that board.
