QUOTE(NewbieBetta @ Jun 3 2008, 01:16 AM) im using 15inch now should be 1024x768 check some review it can pawn 3870 at tat reso... i also wanna know. coz looking at 8800gt 256mb prices now, they're super cheap. less than rm500 only. my only worry is that will it run games smoothly at 19" widescreen (1440x900)? and futhermore, with newer games coming out soon, i'm afraid 256mb wouldn/t be sufficient for all the high textures used in those new games. now also got many models to choose from, 8800gs, 9600gso, 9600gt, HD3850, all around that price range.but duno how true in real life |

1440x900 can be considered high reso? normally i dun apply AA in games, unless it's already applied by default.

i'm having some problem here. i don't know why my 8800gt crashes whenever i play PES2008. it happens randomly, sometimes after 1game, sometimes after 2-3 games. weird enough, it only happens when i play this game. when i play other games this problem does not happen. there's one time i manage to see the popup message, saying that nv4_disp.dll has stopped working. i've reverted to older drivers, and drivers, from the manufacturer, and also the latest drivers. all still did not solve the problem. i ran 3d mark06 for few times, and also atitool artifact scanning for about 30mins, both ran smoothly, never produced any error. the sample of artifacts/ corrupted graphics is in this thread:

after downclock to 600MHz core and 1800MHz memory no problem already, for now..hehe. i've also updated to msi's 175.16 driver. so consider problem solved, temporary..will continue to test with PES..
one more thing, how come must downclock only ok? what's wrong with the oc speed? i heard some 8800GT also face this problem. please enlighten me on this. This post has been edited by dlwl: Aug 1 2008, 11:53 PM |

QUOTE(capiche @ Aug 2 2008, 12:46 AM) not necessarily.. but what i heard is there is a batch of gigabyte stock got problem even if in OC... my evga has no problem on 700/1700/1000 on reference cooling with 60% fan speed.. qimonda chip.. yes, i lowered down the core and memory clock to 600MHz and 900Mhz respectively. so far tested with PES. played more than 2-3 games, no problems so far. so basically it's hardware issue? but nothing wrong with my gc rite? just that the chips can stand the oc?@dlwl.. u try lower the clock see does it helps o not.. cause got some ZOTAC AMP! series cannot tahan OC oso.. |

i had no problems with any other games no matter what drivers i use. seems to me only PES2008 is the problematic game..
