Pump petronas just now, i pump RM20.02, but why deduct me RM200 in app?
*
this preauthorization was more "transparent" before pin&pay initiative. mostly ppl uses cc to pump.

when p&p started, we all were forced to debit card whereby it's more obvious whereby the pre-auth amount seemed to be deducted from DC/account.

if you browse each bank's website about Pin&Pay, there is literature explaining this behavior. it's more of education and public awareness.

QUOTE
Card Pre-authorization at petrol station self-service pump

23. What happens when I use my credit or debit card at a self-service pump?
When you use your card at a self-service pump (automated fuel dispenser) at a petrol station, the self-service pump will authorise the fuel transaction before you can start pumping fuel into your vehicle. This is performed by sending a preauthorisation amount on the payment card to your card issuer.

24. What is a pre-authorisation?
A pre-authorisation is a temporary hold of a specific amount from the available balance on the payment card. It is used to verify that the card is active and has sufficient available funds prior to dispensing fuel.

25. What amount will be pre-authorised on my card when using a self-service pump?
Because the pre-authorisation must happen before the fuel is pumped, the actual amount of fuel pumped is not yet known at the time of the pre-authorisation. The agreed pre-authorisation amount at self-service pumps in Malaysia is set to RM200.

26. What if the amount of fuel pumped is less than the pre-authorised amount?
The amount of the pre-authorisation is not a charge and no funds are debited from the card account, but the available balance on the card is temporarily reduced by the pre-authorisation amount. Once you have completed pumping fuel, the actual amount for the fuel dispensed will be sent to your issuing bank. At this point the actual amount will be debited from the card account, and the pre-authorisation amount is cleared. However, this may take 3–4 business days after the fuel was dispensed and the pre-authorisation was generated

27. What if my available funds are less than RM200 or if I want to avoid a RM200 hold of funds on my card?
Customers who want to avoid a pre-authorization at self-service pumps are advised to go to the cashier where the exact purchase amount would be deducted from the cardholder’s account.

Weird this bigpay card.

I have requested to do the auto-payment deductions from bigpay card.
But on 13 July, it showed "Transaction not permitted to issuer/cardholder". Is it system down during on 13 July that time causing like this?

By the way, I have sufficient amount for deductions. It should b no problem, right?
Any advice or suggestions, guy?

Thanks a lot.

would be helpful if you tell us what service/merchant/payee.

most likely autodebit to prepaid card not accepted. check with that provider.

It is an Allianz Insurance.
I just contact to BP service provider, they checked from system mentioned it's reject because did not key-in the PIN number.

I just wondering autodebit need PIN number? There is no machine on my hand..
Some-more, BP service provider seems like blur blur ask me retry again loh.. shocking.gif

similar case few days earlier.

i wonder if Allianz changed their auto-debit mechanism (maybe unlikely) or BigPay did something (e.g. enforced 3D) for ALL payment type? usually for recurring charges or autodebit, they only need 2D payment mode.

specifically the ability to do chargeback
*
should have chargeback policy and system to do so.

bigpay would have access to their partner bank's portal to perform chargeback.

I just activated my card today, but the refund isn’t reflected, do I need to wait for 1-2 working days?
*
1} not refund, it's a bonus credit.

2) reflected immediately for both parties immediately after you activated your card.

assuming you enter the referral code correctly, you can try asking bp directly via calls, fb, bp forum, or PM bp rep here.

I use refund because it was stated under fees and charges
*
thanks for pointing that out! It's worded as such that's confuses ppl indeed.

AFAIK, there is Joining Fee of RM10, however, currently it's waived. since RM20 min 1st reload is mandatory, dont know why it's linked with Joining Fee instead confused.gif

BigPayJonathan, why is this stated/worded as such? hmm.gif

Joining Fee
RM10.00 refundable upon a minimum top-up of RM20.00

from that, I understand that there is a joining fee of rm10, that would have been refunded once u topup rm20.
*
imo, the word "refund" doesnt reflect the actual "behavior".

i see a refund as such:

1) register card (+referral code)
2) charged rm10 joining fee
3) topup rm20, 1st reload
4) refunded rm10 joining fee
5) activate card
6) get rm10 referral fee/bonus.

essentially, the Joining Fee is literally "waived" without being charged at the first place, hence no refund is done/seen..... unless this is performed backend, even that so it confuses end-user because user is expecting a "refund" of RM10!

To all of you who are using or intend to use this BigPayMe Prepaid MasterCard overseas or in foreign currency. Kindly take note that the exchange rate you see on the app right after a transaction is posted is NOT the final exchange rate. You may only see the final exchange rate only the status of that particular transaction is changed from “pending” to “settled”.

I just realized when I noticed the balance in my BigPayMe app has been steadily declined over the last few days even though i had not use the card after I came back from overseas last Saturday.

QUOTE(touristking @ Jul 21 2018, 11:59 AM)
when spending overseas I do get instant updates on currency conversion in the apps. But I noticed, those instant updates don't seem to be the final definitive conversion rates. It seems after some days, they will change the figure to a more definitive ones.
