I just bought a lg l204wt for my mac mini. However, when I hook it up using the DVI cable, the screen won't show, but when I use the analog/RGB cable, no problem at all.
No message pop up when I use the DVI cable but instead, the screen just goes black and the light indicator is still blue, which mean the monitor is still receiving the signal, yellow indicates power saving mode.
I have no idea how to deal with it. Can somebody help me?
Thanks

For instance, on this viewsonic monitor I can piddle around with the buttons until it tells me: H.Frequency: 65 KHZ V.Frequency: 60 Hz Resolution: 1680x1050 Pixel Clock: 145 MHz You may at least learn whether or not it is communicating with the computer. Also, was the cable supplied with the monitor or did you purchase it elsewhere?

The Basic.
Have you check that the DVI port in your monitor are really working? You can check it with other Mac or PC first.

Have you check that the DVI cable is working? Try it on other machines.

DVI port on the mac mini is definitely working, since TS can use it with the adaptor for the display to work.
might be the DVI port on the LG display. have it checked.

Thanks to check the DVI port... you can use a DVI to VGA converter... then plug your DVI port from your mini via the VGA adapter to the VGA port on the LCD and see if it lights up...if it lights up... then your DVI port should be fine... did you also check if you are able to switch between analog and digital modes on your LCD? normally it should be automated on most LCDs... which ever port it detects a signal it will automatically switch to it...i think

The DVI port on my mac mini if definitely no problem. I've used the converter that comes along with the mac and use it with the VGA cable. I am using the VGA cable now, and VGA port on the monitor.
Just now, my hand itchy and I try to use the DVI cable again. Yes! It does show up, but then when I try the screen saver by moving my cursor to the hot corner(the screen saver), the screen saver showed up but it is fuzzy(static lines appears). Then, I try to watch movie, and the same problem occur again, static lines and then black out altogether.
Before the event above, today, I also tried using the DVI cable, no converter at all, the screen showed up, but then I move the cursor to the screen saver, the screen saver showed up with static lines and then black out.
I've tried VGA cable to watch movie, screen saver, everything, no problem. <<using the DVI to VGA converter on mac mini.

Just a joke: It is time to get a 30" Apple Cinema Display. Well, are you sure that the cable is in good condition? Bended or bending (more than 90 degree) will make the signal weak. If it is not, I think it might be the monitor cannot accept the hertz? The video interlace got problem? Okay, I am not sure. This is just my guess.

LCD panel la... what hertz all? based on TS response, perhaps the panel has a problem. looks like the DVI interface is faulty. to be sure, need to test with another computer. does the LCD still have warranty?

Too bad. I am now in Terengganu. Nvm, I should find a computer with graphic card which has DVI input.
Hope it is not the LCD problem. If not, I need to bring it back to KL. BTW, is LG product warranty covers nationwide?
