QUOTE Home gets delayed again, open beta scheduled for FallYou're going to have to wait a little bit longer for Home. Sony's much-discussed online service debuted at GDC over a year ago, but it's still been restricted to a number of closed beta participants. According to a new press release by both SCEA and SCEE, the closed beta testing will continue through Summer, with an open beta finally available in the Fall. "We understand that we are asking PS3 and prospective PS3 users to wait a bit longer, but we have come to the conclusion that we need more time to refine the service to ensure a more focused gaming entertainment experience than what it is today," said Kazuo Hirai, President and Group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. "Our overarching objective is to provide users with new gaming experiences that are available only on PLAYSTATION Home. Spending more time on the development and on the Closed Beta testing reaffirms our commitment to bringing a quality service, maintaining the PlayStation tradition." It appears that more people will be invited into the closed beta. However, this recent delay of Home is continuing a disturbing trend of promises that are delivered late or not at all, such as in-game XMB and game invites -- these features are far more valuable than an online world to walk through. We're sure everyone will echo the same sentiment: it's been taking Sony much too long to deliver on these promises. Stay tuned for any new developments regarding the Home beta. Link: HOME Damn... delay again.... .. WTH..

guys, im having a really weird problem after upgrading my firmware to 2.30 i did so using the usb drive method. downloaded the .PUP file from here: http://asia.playstation.com/sg/ps3/ps3_softupdate.htm#2the update seems to be successful, i can play all games, watch movies etc, but now i cant seem to power off my ps3 using the front panel on/off switch. i've tried numerous times already... has anyone else encountered this problem?? i had to resort to booting a game, then pressing the PS button on my sixaxis to power off the console. im using a SG satin silver unit.

Okay.
I tought I was the only one who experienced this.
I had the same problem, but in the last firmware. In the latest firmware no problem. But it was no biggie for me since I am too lazy to power it off (getting up from my couch seems like a waste of energy) so I always switch it off using sixaxis. But in the latest firmware I noticed this problem is gone. Maybe you can try to email Sony and ask them whats going on O_o

Lol still alive Problems with PS3 and Mac. They both want the same name so only one works. the Mac is winning the battle so PS3 is not connected to the world.

QUOTE(jsc_tidus @ Apr 24 2008, 11:51 PM) u can even shut down the ps3 via remote play.. yes but I found it to be unreliable. If the signal ur psp send got lost somewhere over the internets (request timed out) then ur ps3 still remains powered on. Actually I find it to be a little useless, since power supply is still connected to the ps3. The main reason I would turn off the ps3 is to avoid lightning strike during thunderstorm and powering down the ps3 is impossible using that way. Only goes to standby mode.
