See that lil thingy there on the floor of the case? Wont b needing it coz it's used to support the PSU in stock mounting position back there. Let's chop it off!

user posted image

It's gone. Nice clean case floor now. This will ensure there's no interference with tower coolers later.

user posted image

I'll move on to the PSU relocation now. I hafta make sum custom mounts in order to mount the PSU under the ROM cage so here's the custom made brackets in progress. They're made out of nice thick aluminum. I've tested them by mounting the PSU in it n turning the case upside down n it holds everything nicely in place. I've also used sum foam on the floor below the PSU for vibration insulation n also to protect the case from scratches while sliding the PSU in.

Cutting out the alu pieces I need for the brackets.

Clamp n bend.

Voila! Rough pieces all done. Finally detailing n fitting will be done b4 installing in case.

Did the detailing work on the brackets n drilled the appropriate holes. Mounted in the case with the foam.

PSU mounted. Just the way I wanted it to look like. A nice stock looking mounting method that didn't require any drastic chopping. This PSU mount n the rear intake plate are my 2 favorite things that I've done of late. It's been a long time since I did sum full on custom work n I love those 2 pieces so much. wub.gif wub.gif The PSU mounts to the case just like a normal Lian Li case. Just bolt on the PSU plate onto the PSU and slide it into place n lock those 4 screws on the brackets n it's done.

Wokeh, the internals are done. Moving on to the top vent. I used aluminum diamond mesh to cover the top vent. It comes in a big huge shiny natural aluminum color. I forgot to take sum pics of it. Anyway, here's the 1st pic I took of it. I've given the mesh a 3D look to it by shaping the mesh to fit inside the hole. So if u look at it from the top of the case, the mesh is flat with the top panel. Here's how it looks like from the inside after I did the fitting and shaping. The color is still silver in this pic.

user posted image

I removed it from the case so I can color it in matt black. U can see the 3D shape of the mesh better in this pic.

user posted image

Mounted the mesh back onto the case.

user posted image

2x120mm fans mounted in the top vent.

user posted image

Remember this? This is the stock PSU plate.

user posted image

This is how it looks like now with my plate.

how many intake fan?

how many exhaust fan?

let me guess:

Rear Fan --> Intake Fan
PSU Fan --> Intake Fan
Expansion HDD Kit --> Intake Fan
Side Panel Fan --> Intake Fan
1st-Ceiling Fan --> Exhaust
2nd-Ceiling Fan --> Exhaust

correcto or wrongo?

BTW, that PSU only sample, for this case will use Strider 560W so 12cm will be on top (not like this psu at Power socket), then go out to mb area thru Power socket area

Wow... love it .. dude ....

but why does the AC Freezer is mounted against the rear case fan ..

besides that why does the hole case only got one intake and three exhaust ..

or it's just temporary setup ....

Because ac freezer fan act as intake fan but rear case is for exhaust.

ac freezer fan will cool down hsf then hot air will suck out by exhaust rear fan. (in theory tongue.gif )

there will be :

Intake fan
Front panel - 12cm fan
Side panel - 12cm fan

Exhaust fan
Top panel - 2 x 12cm fan
Rear panel - 1 x 8 cm (use for take out hot air from Processor area)

BTW, my rig will be in blue color not red light hehe.

Ianho, just tested only. Luv it (read: red light) but want to match with my other thing (read: Samsung 2232BW, Razer Tarantula and deathadder) all got blue led, not nice lah rig in red light.

Too much campur2 plak hehe laugh.gif

Right now wait for CCVL arrive. My sunbeam liquid neon is just too long (30cm long), so need too buy other (nano type, 10cm long)

too much difference in CFM of intake & exhaust hmm.gif

dust will accumulate faster in ur casing?

example, imagine your case got four (4) fan with the same cfm each of 20 cfm

three (3) exhaust fan | one (1) intake fan

so total intake & exhaust cfm:
  • Intake = 20 cfm × 1 fan = 20 cfm
  • Exhaust = 20 cfm × 3 fans = 60 cfm

hmm.gif then the exhaust fan got 40 cfm more than the intake fan

so where the hell is the air that the 2 fans gonna suck out from? blink.gif

from the intake fans? don't think so, the intake air from the intake fan already been suck out by one of the exhaust fan

from the gaps in ur casing --> with no filter can be fitted on to that gap, dust will ride along with it laugh.gif

just my theory though blush.gif

from what i understand, if got more cfm for exhaust fans, the pressure inside the casing will be lower compared to outside the case.
hence will make the cooler air from outside will be much more easier to be draw into the case. coz from the physic theory is, cooler air much more intends to move from higher pressure to lower pressure..

aka negative pressure. which is what most cases are on anyway...

supposedly the best is to get equal pressure...but achieving that is very difficult.

negative pressure is also supposed to be better for cooling.

what i want to know is....is the heat from the PSU being dumped INTO the casing? if its...adoi. ur hsf will be sucking hot air from the PSU. and PSUs are hot!

yeah, these phenomena called negative pressure...
from owner statements, he will use strider PSU. but Strider go only one 12cm fans, which will suck the air but dunno where it will dump the air to...maybe via front panel...

hmm 12cm psu intake is on-top in this case, yup it will come out into case and then go out thru rear fan exhaust but need to pass thru hsf fan first

Flow like this

Note:
Blue is fresh air from outside
Red is used air / might be hot

it will dump to case (processor) but my processor temp is reduce from idle at 55C to only 38-45C after use this airflow, so infact psu exhaust air is not that hot biggrin.gif
