Yeah man.. I think next time all the forumers should list down where and at what price they bought the lenses. Frankly, There should not be a "I give you special price, so you don't go telling everyone!" kind of mentality.

We all want cheap, The retailers all want our money(This is getting more and more apparent what with the future petrol price increase and everything else that goes up with it) and will say anything to make the deal right?

Besides, if they sell it at a good price and then we inform ppl here, they will only make more money when all of us go there to get it from them. Sell bulk at a bit lower price is better than selling 1 or 2 at a higher price. Volume Sales is the key word here man..

I asked from Foto Edar previously, it was RM470.

BTW, I so very itchy and went ahead and gotten a new lens. (plus a couple of extras)

I'm a happy camper of the new Canon 55-250mm IS lens which I got for Rm850 From Pertama Complex, International Camera Center IIRC is the name. (sorry.. I made a typo and typed I'm not a happy camper when I meant I am!)

(Foto Selangor was willing to sell at RM840, but after I asked him for the price of a UV filter, I balked, he was asking for RM75 for Hoya UV)

End up I bought from the shop above which gave me better pricing on the filter. (and I ended up buying a better UV filter as well)

55-250 RM 850
Hoya +4 Close Up RM38
Hoya Pro1 UV Filter - RM100 (this may be a stupid decision though)

Being the 1st time playing with the IS feature, I'm already liking it a lot.

This lens has 7 aperture blades (circular) which is better than my 50mm f1.8 which has 5 aperture blades and is NON-rounded.

Yeah.. I went by motor one day and round the town asking for prices. Best I got was RM470 in KL. (incl YL camera)

Liking it.. I can handheld 1/15 w/o blurring under low light condition.

Unfortunately, I found out (after) that I can't use/buy a 1.4 teleconverter to use with it. Not compatible. Sigh.. Otherwise... 500mm with 2x!! (then again, a 2x converter should be like Rm2K or something eh..)

You can play with it during the next outing next week.

According to another guy who has the same lens, and he mentioned that it's better than his old sigma 18-200 OS.

What poison? This is just a normal Cheap (but quite good value) lens

I think I have lots of stock on that one as well. I went to S'pore and bought like 5/6 bottles of Silica GEL from one of the camera shops and brought home with the aim of using it to dehumify my closets and such. (Previously I only bought 2 bottles.)

Also, I was shown one using Electricity to remove the water (instead of drying in the sun) from International Camera. Then I also realised that I also have 2 of those (bigger sized ones) which I got from a DIY shop in S'pore as well. Forgot the price already.

Hmm.. Seems like I don't really need a "dry" box per se. (RM 299)

Aiyah.. Another one kena con already. But at least you get a better deal than me.. Rm350+ Raydawn filter.

FYI.. Uncle at pertama complex Rm300 only leh.. (according to ppl here.)

I made a few research into CF card speeds and based on what I can tell, all you guys have a lot of money to spend when it comes to getting those ultra/extreme CF cards which boasts xxxx speeds.

Just FYI if you don't know, your camera max write speed is ~12-15x only and if you're getting a faster card also not much use.

The speed only matters when you do transfer from the card to your laptop/desktop..


Other than that, there's not much difference. So, I will not spend that amount of money for something which doesn't really matter all that much.

I rather pay Rm130 for a 4Gb Kingston 133x

You can try the 50mm f1.8 and the 55-250 IS and a whole lot of other lenses if you come to the meetup lah..

this one is supposed to be more expensive I think.. I can't be sure but I think I was quoted ~RM200 for this one..

the 70-200 2.8L IS ~6K or ~5K+ 2nd hand or ~1.5-1.8k USD
