Hie,

my spec:

AMD AM2 4000+ 2.61ghz =RM220
Corsair Value DDR2 2gb = 130
Biostar TA690G + Onboard x1250 hdmi = RM265
Creative Audigy 2 ZS = RM150
Hitachi 160GB Sata = RM160
Rapidshare Accout for downloading hdtv movie

just doing well viewing HDTV quality, but not purely hdtv bcoz still using lcd 17" dvi tongue.gif, later on might get a HDTV lcd tv/monitor

my point is, my rig just doing great to view teh superb quality movie, I think ur planning rig is too expensive.

unless u also into gaming..

Hmm........I would recommend 1 of the new penryn procs (E8200 perhaps) coz its power consumption is so low that you would be able to use passive cooling to cool it. Performance ram is abit overkill. Get a 500GB hard drive. More space to store movies.

AM2 x2 are simply not efficient for some of the codecs used in full 1080p decoding... overclocked low end core2duo(s) are alot better.

HD-DVD is a dying format... Blu-ray burner/drivers are a lot cheap now too... besides..gigabit networked hdd storage is the best way to go.. eliminate the need for optical discs/storage.. just your basic pc node mb,processor, ram and a small hdd...

DS3 is hot for me. You should consider more hardisk space, if you may need to download and save HD torrents files inside.
Take a real power PSU like Silverstone ST56F, extreme power sucks. I was using the 650w extreme duo anc it cant even handle my e6300 and 8800gts before. DS4 is nice, should consider the EP series if you want better power comsumption and less heat.

Processor better you consider e8200 or 8400 as they generate less heat and more cache.
e8200 is selling for 600 now. brows.gif

other than that look fine to me. cheers.

hello~ TS

I also just build a HTPC with exactly same casing as your plan. just share share and might need ur advise for HT that I planning now. need a receiver+speakers.

prc: intel q6600 rm920
mobo: asus p5k-e rm575 ( failed to get p5k-e/wifi ap, yikss..)
ram: corsair ddr2-800 6400c4dhx 1gbx2 rm340
gc: zotac 8600gt 256mb amp! edition rm330 ( I love this as low price and support dvi-hdmi )
hdd: old seagate 80gb sata
odd: old sony sata dvd-rw 16x
psu: enermax liberty 400w rm299
casing: cooler master 281 rm315
remote control: microsoft original mce remote control

coolers
thermaright ultra 120 rm259
silverstone 120mm rm69
vizo 120mm x3 rm29 each
cooler master silent 120mm fan (bundled with casing)
gc fan blower rm12
vizo amarda triple fans for ram rm49

* still pending items are external tvbox & sound card. blu-ray odd or combo in future when price drop and media are widely available. download hd-dvd enjoy 1st.

==============================================================

rite now the question I encounter is most of ppl will advise why dint get a pci sound card insteads of onboard only as I think before to connect to receiver with SPDIF optical connection.

2 conflict statements I saw before:
1. when connect via coxial/optical will bypass the internal sound card decoder which is wasted if are not connect via analog.
2. sound card still decode and are not bypass fully.

secondly, some ppl are remind to check the digital audio streams output, Yes. 24-bit/196kHz support.
onboard audio 24-bit/192kHz support = creative sound card 24-bit/196kHz support while Prodigy 7.1 HiFi have 24-bit/196kHz support, and I also check Asus Xonar D2

which statement are 100% true, sorry for noob questions. ( I did try to search LYN and googling but no exact answer got yet at this moment ... )

If answer is there is still have a big diff then I will consider to get either Prodigy 7.1 HiFi or Asus Xonar D2 only as I ignore creative x-fi which is the EAX are mainly in games design which is I don't need.
