QUOTE(townguy @ Jun 6 2010, 10:50 PM) hai SAPians.... Currently i am undertaking SAP course, Sales and Distribution Module certification. Few days a ago i went for an interview with a company using SAP in its back end. During the interview i explain about the SAP things which i am learning. Base on my explanation the interviewer conclude i am taking SAP level 1. Base on the interviewer, there are 4 levels in SAP. Each level cost different $$$. Is that true SAP have 4 different level in any module? Starting from level 1 to highest level 4. It depends on how they differentiate the level.. probably beginner .. advance .. expert etc. I guess this is not only for SAP, but for other things in general too..

@antaeusguy,
In any career development, you surely doesn't want to stay doing the same thing over and over again .. but there are some that are happy to do it. That is why, I believe when you're 5-6 years down your career line, you may want to decide which way you want to go. There surely nothing much different from SAP manager versus other kind of manager .. you need to have those mentioned skills which you could gain while doing your current job. Depending on your luck, you could go faster than the rest .. or you could go slower .. going up step by step.
If I were hiring a manager in my company, I'll surely choose one from within. One that knows ins-and-outs of what the company is doing and the system supporting the company. But there is always a second option, choosing one from outside who've much better knowledge in the field and better skillsets.
To get head hunted, you need to make yourself known to them. One way is to activate your CV/resume on job sites. Networking is the other way to be known .. get your ass off your chair and walk around.. attend seminars, product launches, courses etc related to your field.
For me, I don't really like to be head hunted, I would rather go and applying the job myself though this could be a bit tough unless you known someone in the company before hand.
Anyhow .. good luck..

@antaeusguy, I was a fan of sapfans.com until when there were some irresponsible posters who posted their specs. and asking for people to help them. I stopped frequenting the site eventhough, I do from time to time, participate in the discussion. I hardly go to sap's sdn .. too many junks, cut & paste suggestions in there. What they're interested is to get as many points as they can w/o really reading the problem and giving the probable solution to the original problem. The best is still Uncle Google .. I could search and most of the time, it went to either sapfans or sdn anyway So what do I suggest? Register to both, sdn and sapfans .. and don't expect to be spoon-fed

Table with MANDT means it is client specific table, if you've multiple clients in the same server, by adding this MANDT field, it will make the entries unique across clients. Only few SAP tables are across client (MANDT is not specified). BTW, if you've this in your ABAP coding, accessing table using OpenSQL will have client specified by default, so you don't really need to specifically add CLIENT SPECIFIED or adding MANDT in your OpenSQL statement.

Haha.. sorry for those who passed the certification but couldn't get a job .. certification is good when you're competing with someone who're without one. But if you're competing with job seekers who've the same certification with you .. the interviewer will surely go for one who can prove (or talk c*ck) ..

Innovative Associates? The guys in there were previously from E&Y MCS, then Cap Gemini .. They're doing some small projects around Malaysia and I guess China. Mostly doing PM, not that many SAP projects .. no idea how they're lately .. but I was with E&Y MCS and had a short stint with their SAP team back in 2004.

QUOTE(Frosty-Snowman @ Aug 3 2010, 08:21 AM) Then I might know u, Wiraone. I was with Innovative Associates since 2004 until 2008.
Their consulting FI lead, ABAP lead, couple of the senior prj managers are still there minus the big consulting boss - switch to IBM (all on speed-dial and g-talk).
Correction on projects - There's no project in China by IA Group. Middle-East yes, India yes, Pakistan -yes, Sabah yes.
They are now doing mainly Financial niche project (SAP Banking). very niche market catering only for firms who need sap banking in the firms.. They also got small support prj's around KL for the old clients which needed enhancements. Ha .. ha.. okay, I was in the BSN project .. initial startup, went missing after the dev server was setup .. anyway, I thought Stephen heading a team that doing some project in China .. so, I might be wrong .. the only thing that I now .. one of my friend is still stuck in Bank Islam project .. like .. err.. forever?
