QUOTE(capital_bar @ Jul 30 2009, 09:36 PM) how bad is the sap market right now?.. a lot of ppl are on the bench and less projects.. sigh No problem when you're doing support .. not so for implementors .. economy is not so good these days .. so, companies are not going to go ahead implementing new things unless they've pre-planned it ages ago.

QUOTE(chezzball @ Oct 13 2009, 12:22 PM) what BAT got to do with SAP? Hmm, BAT has their centre of excellence / shared services / or-whatever-you-may-call-it here.. so I guess the poster thought that the news is relevant.. I wonder if executives are allowed to be in union?

QUOTE(anne1818 @ Oct 13 2009, 08:31 PM) Wiraone, care to let us know what you mean changing to HCL culture in previous post ? If you do not know what it is, then it's not fair to post a statement here. If I am wrong, let us all know what it is. Well, I was referring to the previous posts .. if it is from JSP/Chinaman style to HCL/Indian style .. ughh..

To sum up everything in this thread .. getting into SAP is actually depend on YOUR LUCK! .. someone is lucky to get trained in ABAP but work on something totally different within SAP and get paid handsomely .. but not me I guess .. haa..haa.. I'm not so lucky and get stuck doing ABAP till kubur kata mari I guess (shouldn't complained really .. working from home, got time to send/pick up my kids from school .. got time to do gardening .. can have a nap anytime I want .. hehe).

QUOTE(milkshooter @ Nov 13 2009, 09:25 PM) This is the first time I heard of SAP. I had a look at ABAP syntax, looks a bit like PLSQL/SQL. Why don't just use Java & PLSQL to talk with database and perform processing, why need this additional ABAP, it has some kind of achitectural advantage or something? http://sapbrainsonline.com/REFERENCES/ABAP...BAP_SYNTAX.htmlABAP follows the 4th GL language structure closely when they started that is why you see it is closely resembled the PLSQL. ABAP however is not only used for churning out reports but become the base for SAP.. all modules within the original SAP run on ABAP... When ABAP was conceived, Java wasn't available ..

QUOTE(Aggroboy @ Apr 16 2010, 07:46 PM) ABAP is easy to use, that's why Over the years at this field, the countless fresh grads that I met became very good ABAPers in 2-3 months tops. Haha.. good in kelentong in their CVs I guess Been in the field for more than 15 years now and there are too many things to learn everyday ..

Errm.. as a CERTIFIED ABAPer, you should be able to go through .. now, let me think .. if a certified person complaining that he/she couldn't do the job .. I guess the certification is meaning less .. wonder why some companies prefer to look for a certified consultant..

Hahah.. sifu? me? nolah .. not certified somemore .. can't call sifu Anyway, still remember when I was kick into a project with no experience in ABAP whatsoever, the only thing we had there in the project floor was massive ABAP manual (and yes, they're all in German).. Still remember how I brought down the whole development system .. everything was trial and error method .. the only training that I went to was a short course on ABAP/4 by AC (and they knew nutting too!! .. Anyway, as cheezy said, there are lot of forums/web boards in the net that you could join in. That is the only way I can survive till now .. I was quite active in sapfans but not now.. there are many others who could help there .. but ... before you ask question there, please and please do use the search feature first.

I've friends who're earning up to the tune of US$200K/year in Middle-East, but to be realistic, in Malaysia, you'll be normally get around RM20-25K/month depending on the project (on contract basis). For permanent employment, you'll get around RM8-10K/month on any module. Most senior consultants will go for either freelancing (contract) or they'll open up their own shop to provide consultants to projects around SEA. Starting salary usually the same as other IT graduates.
