^ you already listed the difference of the new 40GB. early impressions indicate the 40GB runs a little cooler and less noisy and have lower power consumption.

^ I'm trying to understand what you are describing. What are u refering when u say PS3 home screen? XMB menus? internet browser? or do u mean the theme/wallpaper settings?

why don't you try to just set 720p only. disable 1080i and 1080p and test if this will happen again.
there's some cases called HDMI "hand-shaking" where the device need to communicate with the display, causing screens adjustments. |

QUOTE Downloading through PS3 is quite slow compared to my PC, can I re-download my purchased games using my PC and transfer to the PS3 (using the Folding@Home proxy link replacement method)? I mean, my PS3 must have been activated when I purchased the game in the first place, is it not? I got no idea rgd this question. If anyone has tried and tested the proxy method for re-downloading PSN purchases, please confirm the results. |

^if u want to play ori ps2 NTSC/UC (US) games on PS3, u need a US 60GB/80GB PS3 set - hard to find locally. most shops here sell NTSC/J PS3 sets.

@ps360, eh? gamesaves are incompatible across SGP and JP sets? very weird for them to program it that way. maybe the violence censor codes creating a glitch?

^ when buy ps3, u get composite AV cables, correct? the red/white PS3 composite cables carries the audio out signal. the green cable in that pict is ruzty's speaker input cable.
y-splitter is used to match the PS3 red/white OUTPUT to speaker INPUT. note: if you have a speaker set/system that accepts red/white plug, then just plug & play. EDIT: yes, the composite cable also called AV cable. This post has been edited by acougan: Dec 24 2007, 01:10 PM |

^what is your setup? if play in small room or desktop setting, consider 19", 22", 24" LCD monitors. BenQ 19" fp94vw is RM650 while Dell LCDs are also good value for money.
if living room, best get a TV LCD, they discuss it here http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/123247 This post has been edited by acougan: Dec 28 2007, 12:18 PM |

best go window shopping. look at those PC LCDs at shops, look at those TVs at shops and estimate the space needed to suit your room.

@casablanca2, i believe PC LCDs and TV LCDs are basically the same technology. i'm using BenQ 19" fp94vw and very happy with it.
@Xaphier, your TV supports 720p via HDMI - its good |

^what brand/model LCD you using?
if u use HMDI-DVI cable, just set 480p and 720p in the PS3 display setting. i don't understand why you are getting 576p. 576p should be PAL signal. This post has been edited by acougan: Dec 28 2007, 10:42 PM |
