Chin Peng could have been a war hero, if he had accepted the peace plan by britihs.

MPAJA tried to "liberate" (take-over) the country from the British. They were allied with the British during the Jap occupation but during the period between the Japs leaving and the British returning to Malaya, they took power and were apparently very brutal especially to those who were considered tali-barut (mostly Malays). The British labeled them as Communists and started fighting them as well. This is what is mentioned in history, the truth is probably somewhere in-between and the fear of communism was a big factor in the outcome.

When Nazis heard about what Jipunis were doing, even they were shocked.

In reality, Jipunis WWII atrocities actually worse than the Nazis. There are way more death of POW in the hands of Jipunis than Nazis.

QUOTE(yhtan @ Dec 11 2025, 03:28 PM)
Because a lot of the chinese businessman donate money and item to KMT to fight against Japanese, then Japan occupied Penang and they start to seek vengeance against those donors.

Japanese is really cruel back then, rumors about 100k died during the occupation of 3 years 8 months, they mostly kill chinese. Those Japanese soldiers hate chinese to the core because they lost their comrade in China. My grandfather almost lost his live as kids and luckily he was spare by the Taiwanese-Japan soldier, apparently those taiwanese-Japan soldier not as cruel as Japanese soldier.

When Lawrence Wong ask China to forgive Japan after the recent comment by Japan PM Sanae Takaichi, Lawrence Wong forgot Singapore suffered badly during Japan occupation as well. Demi jilat Japan/US and start to say such word in front of the whole world. First time in my life i see such sohai Singapore PM who forgot history. Asia countries especially China is very wary the rise of Japan imperialism.

True, people who forget their history really dono la.

What the jap did is totally unforgivable even if they look so nice and polite

Lot of people thought Japan is their saviour

QUOTE(gobiomani @ Dec 11 2025, 05:19 PM)
Correct. The Japanese were violent farks and they were barbaric.
My wife's great grandfather along with thousands of other Indian men were shipped to Burma to build the Death Railway. Only a handful made it back alive looking like the Jews who were liberated in Auschwitz, basically skeletons with their skin hanging on. Her great grandmother couldn't afford to feed her baby and her 7 year old kid (wife's grandfather), she starved to death, after her death, the baby kept crying due to hunger and later died. Wife's grandfather was the only one who survived after taking a train to get out of their town.

Many tali-barut Jepun like the TAR photo above (mostly Malay men) were drunk with the little power that they had and used it to bully their neighbours, often getting them killed for small issues.

Kampung people had to hide their young daughters in the jungle area coz when the Japanese soldiers came around during their ronda-ronda, they will rape any pretty young girls that they see.

There was basically not much food for purchase and due to inflation of the daun pisang money, most people couldn't afford shit anyway. People resorted to eating ubi kayu which was the only thing available.

RIP those who perished and those MIA which I presume died. So many people died in Thailand and in large graves.

These people were forced like sardine in can, put in train cargo rails and ship them off. No proper food or medicine. Some got stab while walking towards their rail jobs because they are sick and dying.

Cruelest buggers

While I can't comment coz I never lived through the era, I don't have much animosity towards them because stories from my grandparents, where one of them actually saved my dad's life.
My dad as a kid was bedridden having very high fever due to living conditions and my grandma while taking care of him, one Jap suddenly came into the house probably to search for food, and seeing the condition of my dad, gave his medication to my grandma and told her to brew for him to drink, then he just left. My dad got better after that.

Drama la. It was war the supply all taken by british leaving nothing. The British is doing the Dunkirk thing taking all valuebles and running back home hide.

They just gave away Malaya because the import export is fucked anyway.

Basically we end up with crippled economy because orang puteh big boss said no need plant rice just plant money crops enough. So when the export is fucked everyone starved.

Then its extra hard when Japanese come cos they plunder Malaya another round. Also the rape cos hentai ppl going YOLO

The price control n home relocation those British do it again during Chin Peng era. No ppl kecoh about this also.

There are all kinds of people. Even during ww2 there were group of Japanese within the island nation actively opposed the war and were prosecuted. Your dad was lucky to meet a nice one. My grand dad was killed by Japanese soldier and he was just a civilian that were not involved in military or insurrection.

Everyone knows the Chinese got put in concentration camp during that time.

Just that no one cares because not same skin colour and religion as the majority.

On top that cannot use a propaganda to win votes unlike labelling Chinese as communists every Hari Kebangsaan.

"Water cure," a form of water torture, was widely used by Japanese troops (specifically the Kempeitai, the Japanese military police) in occupied territories during World War II.
The method involved forcing water, sometimes with irritants like soap, into the victim's body.

Process: The victim was typically tied or secured in a prone (face-down) position. A cloth was placed over their mouth and nose, and water was continuously poured or "pumped" in, filling the lungs and stomach until the person was near unconsciousness from asphyxiation.

Physical Trauma: Once the victim's body was bloated with water, pressure was applied to the abdomen—sometimes by beating it or a guard jumping on it—to force the water out.

Repetition: The victim would be revived, and the brutal process repeated multiple times during interrogation.

Survivors described the experience as feeling like drowning, "just gasping between life and death". The torture causes extreme physical pain, potential organ damage, and severe, lasting psychological trauma.

This method, along with other extreme acts, led to a high mortality rate among prisoners of war under Japanese control compared to other theaters of the war. After the war, Japanese war criminals were tried for these atrocities at the International Military Tribunal for the Far East.

There are 2 types of Japanese army, one is native japan, another one is taiwanese who are forced to become Japan army. I believe your dad encounter the taiwanese japan army who are not so barbaric.
