This. I stopped buying from any sellers that offered options other than sugar, peanut and corn because I know they have to “innovate” because their original version is not good enough.

It has been there for years now. Maybe >10 years. Other than the traditional sugar, peanut and corn, you can also get peanut butter, raisins, bananas, chocolate etc. And yes cheese Although this is the first time I have seen all the pizza ingredients in there at the same time lol.

It is actually not bad. Don't take my word for it, you can just slice in a banana or something yourself and try.

edit: bananas are actually in the "traditional" apom balik sold in penang all along. nothing new. This is just the crispy version lol.

Yeah banana has been there for quite some time already. In 1990s I already had the banana version. Still decent because it doesn’t alter the original taste by much.

But the rest, chocolate sprinkle, cheese, etc. are just ruining the taste, and now you add savoury ingredients, it becomes even more disgusting.

You missed margerine. They usually add the margarine last before removing from the pan.

Not that I missed. But since every version also have margarine, I didn’t thought of mentioning it.

this is crime..

Duno lar.. even bread used to be plain and "humble" back in the middle ages. Just look at what modern bakeries are offering now .

I think apek generation are complaining more coz they yearned for the nostalgic taste in their childhood days and more hostile toward changes .

I agree though that some of the changes and additinal ingredients are absurd. they are turning them into whole meal calorific wise than a quick snack on the go.

I am ok with the types and varieties of bread as they are not ‘contaminating’ the basic sliced bread. Bread is still bread. Now you have different types of bread. Breadboard to be simple like butter/margerine + sugar or condensed milk with milo powder. Nowadays you get all types of bread in different sizes and tastes. It is ok. But the moment you have bread with margerine + salami + caviar + wagyu…. Well, then it is a sin, I’d say. In this Chinese pancakes, it is supposedly simple dessert. Why go add so much ingredients/varieties to the extent of spoiling the basic principles of humbleness and simplicity.
