I always been wanting to ask this after watching so many movies like topgun etc, how does a jet fighter know it has been locked? Infra red sensor?

Radar signal sesnor. Modern aircraft has UV or IR sensor to detect and track heat from IR missile exhaust. Old school ones like in Topgun uses mark one eyeball to detect heat seeking missiles. Human Nature liked this post

QUOTE(ZeaXG @ Dec 11 2025, 11:30 AM) Not really. Evidence favors PRC, which shows Japan deliberately approach Chinese ship exercise on international waters. It is normal for jsdf vessel to monitor pla vessel or vv in international water.aircraft carrier battle group have escort to prevent close proximity to aircraft carrier. flight path intrusion or flight operation interruption is unlikely. |

QUOTE(Wedchar2912 @ Dec 9 2025, 12:47 PM) what a wasted opportunity.... should have used one hypersonic missile and see how that performed... once and for all we can know if hypersonic is just paper tiger talk. if missile is sui for, then maruah tchalla wor. plus, if u tembak, then jap can tembak balik or not? this is a military training afterall... apparently everyone been informed of it and yet some ufo came nearby... QUOTE(Hobbez @ Dec 9 2025, 12:55 PM) Although China keeps on building and building its army, I do not think war is something it is good at. japan produces 90% of some of photoresists and fluorinated polyimide used for semiconductor manufacturing. china may have cornered the market for rare earths, but without japanese chemicals, there's no chip production too.Economic war only....
