You cant lift that heavy with a dumbbell pair.
Also, almost impossible to setup dumbbell press if youre lifting heavy.

No point lifting so heavy, unless u are going for body building competition. If for muscle build and body toning, 50kg dumbbell is more than enough already. U hold 2, its already 100kg. Whats the point of going above 100kg if u are not going for competition?

it's time to drastically change gym equipments

Gym equipments have been the same for decades. The only reason people die are ego lifting.

That uncle lifted 20kgs barbell with 10kgs x 6. Total 80 kgs.

Look at his physique. Don't think he can lift 80 kgs.

You can see many ego lifting, including newbies. Some idiots lift the barbell without locking the weights. Then when lifting, they can't lift and struggling until the barbell tilt 1 side and the weights fall off. Lmao.

Bro you aren't supposed to lock the barbell if you are alone.

Reason 1

If you fail a lift and cannot save yourself you are suppose to let one side drop and let the weights fall off.

Reason 2

If your weights are falling one side when you lift means those weights aren't meant for you.

Never lock your weights people. You wanna be safe alternate using the barbell and Smith machine to break your plateau.

Because why not? Maybe it's enough if your 160cm or something.

In regard to bench press, it is better to not lock your plates. Specially so if you're lifting alone.
It maybe fine if you're doing lightweight. But if you're doing heavy press, locked plates means you will have a hard time getting the weight off you. With unlocked plates, you can just tilt your bar to slide the plates off. Of course, you still need safeties to survive the bar fall / failure in the first place.

If you can't even stabilize the bar properly, you're ego lifting.

I will never bench/squat outside of a powerrack with safeties in my homegym.

With proper form, the safeties won’t even limit your ROM, won’t even notice it’s there unless fail.

I’m just waiting this to happen in malaysia - lots of ppl don’t even use safeties even if it’s there.
