People buy proton cos cheap, somewhat reliable, easy to maintain.

Now put CCP crap in it and everything expensive and slow if need repairs. For what?

The CVT is its Achilles' heel in current generation. I hope Proton managed to find some miracle way to improve the Punch CVT in the new Saga. Or else it will be another hard sell.

It depend on how u see it. CVT is another way to improve fuel efficiency. The problem is there are good CVT and bad CVT. Besides, generally CVT is not meant to drive hard all the time. Unless...

Old Saga 1.3 AT Standard and new Saga 1.5 Standard is same price.

AMA02 is Saga Hatchback, possibly in SUV form

Actually am hoping for S70 standard can put BHE15 1.5NA engine but with Geely DCT priced 60-70K? Think doable, got demand?

I think the only thing that can be considered cheap from potong is emas5.

Their sedan segment ilineup s getting weird Potong a segment is now 1.5l. 'c' segment s70 is 1.5 turbo. Then persona want to put what engine wor?

Proton difficult to compete in A-segment. They don't have small 1.0L engines like Daihatsu. Hence the AMA platform with 1.5L are all B-Segments priced lower where possible to fight w Perodua.

My fren test drove MC3 and says the CVT is good

ama series will not just merely a saga platform refresh. in geely world, one platform family can consist of older platform refresh (for example BMA platform, can be in older platform as in S70/Emgrand 4th case) and newer X50 platform (under BMA platform family)

another more sophisticated ama platform, probably based on Iriz/persona GSC platform refresh, will probably being under development for upcoming mini SUV/MPV

ama02 = saga cross. same platform as saga refresh ama01

ama05, ama06, probably slightly larger SUV with hybrid (maybe will be called E.MAS 3 phev) and also 7 seater MPV similar size to Ertiga

CVT unsuitable for NA. On turbo yes. Nice torque.

CVT is most fragile among all the transmission types no?
NA is best match due to lower power output.

Perodua needs a partner like Geely

CVT got many types.

For turbo, need the steel belt type. Proton is using rubber belt with steel ribs. Good for low boost turbo application.

U always here OCH problem on CFE engines. CVT problems only after 10 years or prematurely due to lack of maintenance. 50% of Exora CFE owners never changed the CVT fluid every 40k. I changed mine every 30k because it's city only car.
